- deadapostle, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Should read "The Last Video iPod Guide You Will Need Until The New Version Comes Out Next Week"
- TheD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1bla bla bla...cant wait till later today when there will really be something for people to bitch about (macworld). Instead of just bitching about other posters comments. *sigh* im outta here for 8 hours.
- grady, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If only there were as complete a guide for windows software...
- aquax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It has info for TiVo conversion, nice.
- complxor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2What about windows?
- PacoDG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Then go here http://www.ipodnova.com/ and add to somewhere whatever you ripped. Sharing is caring.
- rhyno2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Headline should read:
...last iPod guide (for OS X)...
Might want to give a heads up that the article is only relevant for 5-8% of the audience.
Yes, it's the last word of the description, but it would save a lot of time for people scanning lots of headlines quickly, viewing via RSS feeds, etc. - madbart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What about Videora Ipod Convertor. It does everything apart from ripping DVD's.
For that I use Xilisoft. - lostinthefire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1awesome, i just got my ipod with video this past christmas and ive been looking for a site like this, thanks!
+digg - ericesque, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually, this IS the LAST iPod guide a windows user would ever need. There are enough other iPod guides out there that you'd probably never get around to reading this OSX specific one.
- Strabo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just because it's for OSX doesn't mean it's not helpful. The information is fine, you just can't use the programs that it talks about. Windows can even use Quicktime Pro (if you want to take that long) There was some helpful information about the different video formats, and what better for TV viewing and such, along with hints about a/v cables.
- jcostom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1sensory..
QT Pro is not part of the standard Mac OS X kit. QT is, you need to purchase the Pro key, same $30 as it is on Windoze.
There are other solutions that obviate the need for QT Pro, though it is certainly a nice feature to have for other things. - DZNpusher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1SWEET info.
Even SWEETER to be reading it on a Mac.
A lot of stuff there, and extremely thorough. That's the kind of site I like... give me everything I might need and I'll sort out the stuff I don't want.
I can digg it. - edot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A little OT, but does anyone know what utility I should use to convert a DVD from PAL to NTSC? Thanks...
- wired4u, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2archetwist, today is Macworld, so if you do not like seeing apple news I suggest you stop reading digg for a few days. The frontpage will have no less than 6-8 apple headlines today.
- dollaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A bluetooth Ipod will be released that supports A2dp
- wadaodi, on 01/04/2009, -0/+0I want to share a M4P Converter with windows users! Free and useful!
http://www.m4p-converter.net/ - jeromeerome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For everyone complaining about the title I simply used the one from the source site at PlasticBugs. For those of you complaining about needing a Windows version of this guide if I ever run across one and it has not yet been posted I will be sure to do so. I use Windows at work and OSX at home so I fall into both camps. Yes Apple has a small percentage of the overall market including the Digg users here but I am sure judging from the 700+ Diggs that many users are happy to have this information available to them. Just a thought...quit complaining so much about stupid little things and post useful comments instead.
- orangetiki, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1very through and informative. site rocks. And as for windows, cracka please. Shouldn't you be using a Rio or something?
- LoungeActx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1whoa wait...no windows version? haha...that's called irony...half the time i'm sitting here thinking the exact opposite..."wait no os x version?"...
- kitykity, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I want a Windows version too! Or maybe I should just write my own...
- sensory, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yeah, what about for Windows? ;)
Good guide, though.. just all seems a little pointless since Mac users have Quicktime Pro (at least I hope that's part of the OSX package) which can do most of that anyway. - Magnum2066, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0iPods are for suckers. :P
Get one of creative's Zen models (20GB) for the price of a nano. Apple just made the iPod name big, thats all there is to it. - Clive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Good guide, but no windows. No digg
- jeromeerome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Windows Users:

http://digg.com/movies/HOW-TO:_Convert_a_DVD_for_your_iPod_(with_video)_in_Windows
http://digg.com/apple/Videora_iPod_Converter
These are just a few examples. Do a search and you will find many more posts related to iPod video conversion on Windows. - BentCorner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What's the percentage of iPod users that are Mac users? Could have sworn that iTunes didn't hit big until they opened up the Windows users.
- AttroPheed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Here's a Windows guide: Return your iPod, buy the new Zen and forget about converting.
- mrxxg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i got my 5th video ipod last month, i've searched in different forums and google and have tried several differenct programs, like pq, imtoo, xlisoft, cucusoft etc, for those who are looking for an easy to use solution and willing to spend some money, i'd like to recommend you use cucusoft DVD to ipod video converter suite,it can not only rip dvd to ipod but also can convert almost all kinds of video files in your hard disc, it's an all-in-one solution, it works perfect for me.From experience, only cucusoft can convert all my dvds (around 60), some others have trouble to recongize my dvds.i get it from http://www.allforvideo.com/download/iPodSuit_r56510.exe
- DrPepperRules, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nice guide.
- kuya, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Finally, an excellent video iPod guide for the Mac. Who's going to create one for Windows?
- diggnationdevon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Considering most people have Windows there needs to be a Windows version here.
- gregcotten, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Since when is Windows spelled Windoze? Are you trying to be "cool" or something?
- Darklighter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I don't *need* this guide at all because it's for Mac.
- jimmiem, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0"Am I Also The Only Person Who Wonders Why People Feel The Need To Capitalize Every Word In A Sentence?"
It's called 'Title Case,' see if you can figure out why. - mrkott3r, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1no digg because there isnt a windaz version
- archetwist, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I thought digg is about technology news, not *apple computers news*. Why oh why do I have to read this Mac *****? Mac OS, iPod, Steve Jobs, Mac OS, iPod, Steve Jobs, Mac OS, iPod, Steve Jobs, Mac OS... and so on, and so on, blah, blah, blah.
- RBasil, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0The headline should read: "The Last Video iPod Guide You Will Need - As long you are one of the 4% of people who use a Mac"
We really NEED an "-Digg" feature.
Am I Also The Only Person Who Wonders Why People Feel The Need To Capitalize Every Word In A Sentence? ;) - wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Dugg to death.
- Big_E103, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Jackson Bowen is gay
- Detour, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0I don't need any "iPod" guide..
- applejackson, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Eric Ebert likes men
- Molnies, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0No digg because of the stupid headline
- Zonkzor, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0This is a very well detailed guide. Must have took alot of time. I'm suprised people are not getting rich off making some sort of all-in-one ipod video software. Because obviously there is a market for one if you have to go through this much trouble to get video on the thing.
