it's much faster than duggmirror - kraniac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23Look, I don't run Mac OS (I run Linux), so don't take me as a fanboy, but Apple is not for "noobs" or people in their fifties. It's a much more technically solid OS than Windows is, being POSIX-compliant and all. Now, back in 1992, what you said would've had some merit. But Mac OS X is unlike all its previous operating systems since it's derived from the remnants of NeXT's project. You pretty much just don't know what you're talking about.
If you want to complain about Macs, complain about the proprietary hardware or the lack of interface customization ability. Then at least you can LOOK like you know what you're talking about. - riumplus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Temporary mirror of just the images:

http://www.riumplus.com/hidden/1_2_source.jpg - shit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16That was hardly a muffin top. That was a Muffin Top Nano at best.
- gboodhoo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15uh... its called art direction? while it may seem obvious to you after the fact, obviously it wasn't otherwise the ads wouldn't have gotten the attention they did. Just because an idea is relatively simple to execute doesn't make it invalid. I'd say this particular campaign is easily one of the most recognizable in the past 10 years.
- znicket, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Kinda more grungy and less stylish that one would think.
- jsully, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12AOL is the AOL of your generation.
- Soozie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9They made her prettier too.

- nhassan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9second that
- goonbaggins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7well, I got "problem loading page" pretty damn fast
- kixxster, on 10/12/2007, -7/+13I think the reason it looks like her waist is smaller is because they had to smooth it out to get it to look right. the top she is wearing would make a weird bump in silhouette because of where it sits on her waist.
pretty cool to see the photos though - jchrome, on 10/12/2007, -3/+92kikkster: That "weird bump" is called a hip-bone. It's clearly not/has nothing to do with "a part of the dress". So, the artist did make her skinnier. Which is a very lame and very commonplace practice in the industry..
- bennybertow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Is this the same guy that did the poses for Wario Ware Smooth Moves?
- drbroccoli, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Also known as a pelvis.
- Kypt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5*sigh* and the Unix backbone attracts NO tech-savy people...
Edit: kraniac said it a lot better than I could :). - stargatesteve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Apple is not for n00bs. I normally use Debian GUN/Linux, but I bought myself a Macbook because from time to time, I just want my email or to surf the web. I want something clean and that looks pretty for that.
That being said, I also do a large amount of coding on my laptop (mostly C/C++ and some java), and I write Perl and run an Apache server on my G5 at work.
For the love of all things sacred, do some research when you post something. OS-X is just BSD made prettier and simpler to use. - shotgunefx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@drbroccoli
I'll help you out as I recently heard this expression, suprisingly, the girl who said it (referring to herself), didn't feel like explaining it. ;)
Little female lovehandles hanging over the jeans. - somerandomnerd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The block button is your friend. It stops all posts from blocked users appearing when you're logged in.
The only problem is that you're left with just as many irritating posts complaining about the posts that you can't see... - bking, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5RARRRRRR IT'S A THREAD ABOUT ADVERTISING... WE NEED AN APPLE FLAMEWAR!!!
- digitalrhino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Couple of things:
1. Both of these are from really old campaigns, I believe they go somewhere else now.
2. This is just for the print campaigns, the TV commercial silhouettes are done by a company called Company 3 (usually, the most recent two were i believe done by Logan instead.) - drbroccoli, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8Mirrormaid, your persistance is really impressive. If only you had something productive to do with your time, you could probably change the world.
- synorgy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That's beyond a crap statement.
I'm no apple fan, by any means, but they are great for graphic design / web design and are beautifully designed. If you want "simple", you want a Mac. Prove to me they are for "style conscious freaks" and "noobs" (the noobs one is difficult to prove - I promise.) They have a good image because they produce a good product and have a good advertisement idea (which they have because they are at about 5% of the market share.)
On another note - when you make claims - back them up. - Federbeast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.
- Hoov, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Would you people let it go already?
- Lonny, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4They clearly did the same to the guy, so quit your complaining. They smoothed it out and took away some bumps on both pictures because it wouldn't look smooth and stylish normally.
Are you all that surprised that what you see on TV isn't always the same as real life? - kraniac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thanks for that image mirror, they're interesting stuff.
- fredinator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@somerandomnerd
Thats right, its more annoying having ppl comment about spammers, than spamming, coz you just block spammers and pretend they werent there.
Hang on, im commenting about spammers... woops :s - estacado, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The chick looks hotter in silhouettes mode.
- Me1000, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"Image Is Everything. Substance Means Nothing."
80GB of space seems like something!
"it's for style conscious freaks or noobs."
I sure as hell am not a noob, nor am i style conscious; OS X is a much more mature OS than windows!
And the Apple commercials are misleading since only people in their 50s use Apple (not as techy and scary to them).
So now your trying to date me? your off by about 30 years buddy!
the 75% of teenagers that have MP3 players in the world, using iPods, are 50 years old?
Dude like kraniac said, you dont know what your talking about, and you look like an idiot not knowing what you are talking about!
BTW, people dont use Apples; they use Macs, or iPods... - thanksgiving, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1im glad he took out her flubber roll hanging over the pants, muffin tops are not attractive, that wouldn't sell ipods
- stargatesteve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Obviously, it isn't lame, or it wouldn't be doing so well.
- Floppygrandma, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2They carved the back fat off Jeremy Piven with hair, Where's the outrage?
- diggerphelps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ad agencies like Chiat/Day (Apple's agency) generally charge a 15% commission on the value of the advertising budget.
So if the Apple iPod campaign uses total $100M of airtime, magazine space, billboards, etc, the Chiat/Day makes $15M in revenue.
I believe the agency pays the production costs, so after they pay that guy at rocket $200 an hour or so for retouching, they keep the rest of that $15 Mil.
Of course I am only kidding about that last part. - R3j3ct, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I actually think the IPOD ad is one of the least interesting images on that site... I could do the apple ads and make them come out that good in a couple hours, but some of those chops are incredibly extensive...

They also shaved off the guy's waist bump too. - bennybertow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm waiting for the obvious crappy Metacafé Photoshop Video Tutorial...
- godzilla81, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1How much you reckon do Rocket studio charge for this campaign?
- EBFoxbat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1A face poorly suited for silhouette.
- scbysnx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1whether its normal or not the hip would have looked odd in silhouette quit trying to make everything a plot to demean a group!! She's shorter in the picture too.. obviously intentional to perpetuate unfair standards for shortness right? stfu
- jontom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Ah, you see - take Kraniac's advice and you at least LOOK like you know what you're talking about. Each OS has its pros and cons - you've stated your point of view can we move along?
- drbroccoli, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2What's a muffin-top?
- darkenin13, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1nice to see the guy behind America's most lame ass advertisement
- Zankou, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Looks like they took a bit off her muffin-top...works for me
