- NSResponder, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Has it occurred to you that some people give to charity without calling their publicist?
-jcr - guinefort, on 11/29/2009, -0/+0Nutz, did you read that article? That wasn't Steve. In fact, I'm sure Jobs never even read that email, do you really think he has time for every single person that sends him one? That was Richard Townhill who was the nice one and sent that student a free copy. Also, RED wasn't his idea, and he still made a profit off of all of those iPods he sold. Philanthropic work generally means giving without expectations for returns. System 7 and below are free simply because they are so old, no one would pay for them anymore, and their capabilities are so ridiculously low that they are designed for computers that can't possibly run anything else. I mean, that was an era where most of the Operating Systems fit on floppy disks. 7 didn't, but just barely. Besides that, had YOU done a bit more research, you would know that Jobs, in his triumphant return to Apple in 1997, terminated all of Apples corporate philanthropic projects, in the name of saving money until Apple was profitable again. Where are those projects? They have yet to be re-instated. ALSO, at howlongtoretire, that's really your response? Did you do that? Because that's just a stupid response. You don't need money to do philanthropy work. Steve Jobs has just never showed any desire at all to donate or even support ANY organization, and with his sway over the masses, he could do some seriously good work.

- Nutz321, on 11/26/2008, -0/+0haven't you heard that System 7 and below is free? i guess you were asleep.. How about iPod Product(RED) project. do proper research next time, i bet you just wrote down one search term on google, clicked on the first result and it didn't work so you forgot about it. that's not research, that's wasting time.
