- TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Pfft. RECYCLING is much better for the earth. You'd think a hippie like Jobs would know that.
- MosX, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11"Old, old and old."
Well obviously it's old if it's about Windows 95 you ass. Maybe some people didn't see it? - modularsky, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7"the good ol' days when Apple and Microsoft despised each other." - you act as if those days are in the past?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Can't we all just get along? Apple stole the GUI from Xerox back in the day; MS stole Apple's stolen GUI, and here we are. Both Jobs and Gates have been quoted as saying (at some point) 'good artists copy, great artists steal'. That being said, use linux. :D
- computerdude33, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9I don't believe Windows sucks; I just believe that everything else is better.
- Anaphiel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4If I remember these ads, there was a whole series mentioning features in Windows 95 and saying "imagine that...", followed by a blank black page saying "We did. In 1984."
- astrosmash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Better ad:

Actually Picasso said that. - jonshipman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"I don't suppose you've ever used it, take my word for it, it beats the Mac OS on all levels."
Of course it does. Just like future processors are better than processors of today. Comparing an unreleased OS to an OS available since April of this year is a bit ... odd. I'm sure Apple will surpass Vista when 10.5 is released, still before Vista. - wassah2200, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2OMG! that guy in denim looks like a douche! who would wear that and think they look cool?
- kcpwnsgman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2you guys do realize this is a year old and no one else will be reading these comments right?
- vintechsys, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If it wasn't for M$ not even the IPOD would have been successful. Why? Because most IPOD users have a Windows box. Apple can't even have success with its own products without Billie Gates. Look at the Newton.
- frankietears, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow..... just... wow.
- randf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1kcpwnsgman...sshhhhhhhhhhhhnow!!
don't go and spoil a geek fight! this is even better....geeks traveling back in time to fight and no one's around to watch! - joshrholloway, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1At this point it doesn't matter much who did what first - it matters who does it better. The iPod was by far NOT the first MP3 player, but they gave it style and arguably the best user interface of any there is. That's why they're number one. If the tech world was based on who was first, we'd all be using Babbage OS XXXVII.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1no i just switched to mac and they are awesome!
- simX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Agreed, glad to see people that actually keep up with everything and don't just rehash the Apple propaganda they hear. Also if I remember right was the 1984 macintosh very color limited? I don't care enough to google it just to find that out but I'll take win95 any day over the 1984 mac."
Bahahahahahaha, that's good one. I probably would take Windows 95 over the 1984 Macintosh, yes, considering that the Macintosh would have been OVER 10 YEARS OLD AT THAT POINT.
Good job, Captain Obvious. - laughterkillsme, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5@computerdude33
Windows is a pain, but if you know what your doing it works flawlessly. - HiddenLYNX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"If Apple is the such an "Innovative" company why is it that just about everything they have has been ripped off from other companies?
Example: IPOD and Video IPOD
Creative had them both before Apple.
Now I know what your going to say (even though you have never used a Creative MP# player) "Yeah those suck! IPODs are SO cool""
ManScum
Hey, why dont you look up the definition of Innovative and Inventive, Apple is "Innovative" because they can take anything out there and make it BETTER. They didnt invent the MP3 Player, they made a successful efficient one. Apple completely re did their OS from the ground up, what has windows done from the ground up... NOTHING, windows 2000 and XP still have 4 bit lines of code from windows 3.1. How is that guaranteeing me quality? Even Explorer is the same thing from windows 95, they havnt changed or fixed much, they keep patching it and still more insecurity holes are found easily. They finally realized to much dismay of Balmer and Gates that they will have to recreate windows vista.
Creative may have had a hdd mp3 player, but apple improved on it so much that no other mp3 player can compete with the quality. How many years have there been "iPod Killers" and how successful have they been? - DogHumpsMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Just once, I'd like to see a Digg mentioning an operating system that doesn't turn into a flame war...
Ad was funny. Dugg by this Windows user."
Hallelujah brother. This Mac user agrees with that Windows user. - gropo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1...Like gay porn

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How parts of the OS are made make it a OS its pretty important look at how vista uses pictures!
- KarlSage, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Apples break windows, if the windows are really thin.
- Arramol, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Just once, I'd like to see a Digg mentioning an operating system that doesn't turn into a flame war...
Ad was funny. Dugg by this Windows user. - simX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Typical Mac adherent."
Right. If that's what you say restore does, then it's called "undo" on the Mac. Command-Z. Works in the Finder. Restores the thing you just put to the trash to right back where it came from.
palmer: Haha. You routinely delete something from the system folder. Nice!
So, as usual, yes the Mac does have this feature. - manfesto, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Oh, and I still find it kind of hard to see how this turned into a flame war - this is basically a really old ad that everybody - regardless of OS choice - can just look back on and laugh at, say "Man, Jobs was/is a pretentious *****," and move on.
- laughterkillsme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@arramol
rofl, the entire story is a windows flame .. how could this one not become a flame war? plz pffft and stuffs lol - simX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1(Oh, and in case you say it doesn't work on Mac OS 9, the Mac OS has also had this feature since "day 1". On the Classic Mac OS, it was called "Put Away". Command-Y. Look it up or try it.)
- frozendice, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Have any of these people that are saying OS X sucks tired using Mac OS X EXCLUSIVELY for more than 4 months? It's like if you only knew dos and were dumped into UNIX. You wouldn't be able to do everything you knew how to do instantly. IT HAS A LEARNING CURVE. Lots less than windows.
I've trained dozens of users on the Mac and it has always been easier and faster than training windows users. I started out using windows. I have only switched myself a few months ago.
You can't really tell something unless you've walked the equivalent of a mile in it's shoes. That means at LEAST a few months. - stretchdog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Man, Jobs was/is a pretentious *****,"
Agreed! Although he was a pretentious ***** who wasn't back at Apple when this ad was made... - kcappraiser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wonder about you guys that say OS X is so easy to use. What exactly do you find difficult about Windows?
- simX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"The sad part is, 10 years later, you still can't restore things from the Mac trash can. You could restore stuff from the Windows recycle bin on day 1. That is a typical example of how Apple fails to use common sense in their designs, and when someone else does, Apple refuses to improve bring its products up to par. The same thing goes for the whole Mac GUI. Apple: proudly sticking with ***** designs. Microsoft screws up too, but at least they're willing to revamp and try new things once in a while."
Ummmm... yeah, that makes a whole lot of sense. Wait wait, I'm opening my trash can. Hmm, I seem to have just moved a file from the trash can back to the desktop. I guess it's only an alias. It must be because ratsass says so. So I guess I can't restore anything from the trash can.
Oh, wait, I don't give a rat's ass about ratsass. Asshat. - terafunker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ramble:
"Actually, it's called Aero, and it's been in development pretty much since xp was done."
And when will that be? Some Tuesday soon? - TimmyK., on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I've worked with both windows and apple. When I worked with apples the most I had to worry about is getting a little dirty, the odd splinter, and falling off of the ladder. Now that I work on windows I'm constantly getting cut, and I always have to worry about the windows breaking and the shards killing me, and I STILL have to worry about falling off the ladder. Working with windows really sucks compared to apples.
- HiddenForce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I saw an Apple ad at SEATAC airport that said "CNGRTULA.TNS" (or something like that), basically "welcoming" Microsoft for breaking out of the 8.3-restricted filename world. :) (Of course, they were already there with NT [and prior to that, OS/2].)
- roeboedog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@kcappraiser- I don't find anything Hard about using a PC being a PC Tech in the real world. When I want to use a computer for simple things like surfing and email I don't want to have to worry about virus this, spyware that, and constant pop ups from the os tool bar that I can't turn off. Not to mention 10,000 other background services and apps running the server no purpose.
Ok I am done I will try not to comment again. I so love a good discussion. - glitchbit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ramble,
Agreed, glad to see people that actually keep up with everything and don't just rehash the Apple propaganda they hear. Also if I remember right was the 1984 macintosh very color limited? Apple has never been very good at marketing its own OS. Sure, they can market iPod, iTunes, and their other hardware (occasionally), but when was the last time you saw an ad for Apple software?
- fr3nch13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Also when Tiger was announced they had banners above the keynote that said "Introducing Longhorn".
- Triene, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Also, I'm too poor to aford a mac. I don't make 7 digits a year. :("

...wow. I registered on digg to make a comment on this.
How offensive is that? Seriously?
...ridiculous. Think about what the hell you're saying, please. - tigerpaper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.wimp.com/windows/

this was one of the first hits on google for "windows sucks" - salweem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0cough widgets cough cough
- chill392, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I never said I hated Windows or Microsoft, I just don't like their software as much. They are not as innovative as Apple in my view, but that isn't the point.
>So a long time windows users who had many options other than apple decided to switch to apple when it >became a fad says that Microsoft was never good. mmmm... So why didn't you get a mac to begin with? >Furthermore an idea is only as good as its implimentation.
I've used both, Windows longer than Mac, and already, having my Mac for a few months, I have done more than I had ever done in the years I used Windows. I always wanted a Mac, but being 13, with maybe $10 in my possession at any one time, I couldn't without help from my parental units. After working very hard to bring all of my grades up to A's, I was rewarded with a Mac Mini. And I certainly wasn't about to install some form of Linux on the Windows machine I did have, because before I got a Mac, I barely had an idea of what Open Source was, let alone Linux.
On a side note, all of the Windows machines my family has ever had have had various faults. Some of the software problems actually led to hardware failure, and we recently had to make a "frankenstein" computer out of two or three dead computers' parts. My mother, apparently needs Microsoft Office for her work, and would not allow me to install the distro of Linspire I nabbed on its anniversary give away. It just goes to show you how Microsoft had weedled its way into our lives...
At school, when a teacher was trying to give a presentation on his tablet, it crashed three times. He hadn't ever installed anything on it at all, he was just running a PowerPoint. - teckjunkie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@mudcrutch : I completely agree
Hey windows fan boys enjoying USB and Firewire technology? - kcappraiser, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1OS X is so good Apple is up to 4% in the market.
- gotrevgo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is actually just one page of a 4 - 5 page ad. The others talked about how you can put files on the desktop and a few other old school Mac features. all of them ended with "Imagine that," then the last one said "Imagine this" with a page of photos and copy.
- heinousjay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@manfesto
'Which is why I think Digg should just straight-up rip off /.'s comment system - thread comments and moderate so that flames get buried under comments with actual insight and rational thought. There have been a few rational debates about OSs on Digg - they were just hard to follow because every response had the "@whoever" that you had to look for, and they were separated by at least three one liner comments like "lol OS X rox."'
I'm sorry, is this slashdot.org? Insightful and rational thought? Do you read the special secret comment section or something? -
