- inactive, on 10/21/2007, -4/+103I envy you Mac users. When you find a website that promises you screensavers, you get SCREENSAVERS. When us Windows users find a website that promises us screensavers, we will invariably get viruses, adware, spyware, broken links, and porn.
- Webteeth, on 10/12/2007, -10/+28I personally think LotsaWater (http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/icons_screensavers/lotsawater.html) is one of the best screen savers available for the Mac. Check it out if you haven't already, it deserves at LEAST an honorable mention on the list.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -20/+36Duggmirror's not broken. Just use the correct number of r's, idiot:

Give it a rest, whiny troll - thatgirlismine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8How about PongSaver, the screensaver that plays pong so that the score is actually a clock: http://www.rogueamoeba.com/utm/posts/Company_News/PongSaver-2006-07-13-11-00
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11My favorite screen saver is the iTunes one. It grabs all of my album artwork from iTunes and every time I have it on, all of my friends stare at it for hours. I've been asked if they have a Windows version, but I haven't checked.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+14ZogDog, it wasn't THAT funny to start off with. Let alone twice in three minutes...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+14it's the 10 BEST, not the ONLY 10, you moron
- pyro116, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11Good call on that one Paul, added it to the list as an honorable mention. (And Electric Sheep is like, the coolest name for a screensaver ever.)
- inferno10, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11Oh man, a Mr. Sparkle screen saver. My system is now complete.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -15/+19Fine, mod me down for pointing out that it's "duggmirror" and not "duggmirrror". That'd be the wisdom of crowds in action, yeah?
- computerdude33, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Their MIME settings are wrong. Ctrl-click on the link and press Download Linked File.
- meatmcguffin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Not true. An Intel build only works on Intel.
A Universal binary works on both. - Mac2492, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Guys, Fluid is one of the most amusing screensavers ever! Download it and give it a try if you have a non-Intel Mac. (They're supposedly updating it, but I haven't seen anything new from them in a while.)
- Mithrandir, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I couldn't get the Universal one to load properly either. Here's the PPC version:

http://www.quartzcompositions.com/phpBB2/upload/files.php?cat=4 - antdude, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6How about System 47 screen saver? http://www.mewho.com/system47/
Awesome Star Trek's LCARS. :) - thebraineater, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3In Soviet Russia, screen saves you!
- MisterKen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3My favorite of the moment is Cavendish
"Cavendish simulates gravitation and accurately models stable planetary orbits, gravity slingshots, solar systems, asteroid belts, galactic collisions, or any other world you can imagine. "
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/math_science/cavendish.html - detrate, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"Electric Sheep is a distributed screen-saver. During normal operation
it uses the internet to contact the server (sheepserver.net) to
download MPEG animations, both with HTTP on port 80 and 8080, and also
by BitTorrent, which has been integrated into the client." - UncommonSense, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Beautiful collection there. They say if you got it, flaunt it, and Mac users seem to definitely have it.
- WaveRunningNakd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4No flying toasters?
[/afterdark] - akatrito, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3not much of a list when it doesn't include the Fireflies Screensaver: http://somewhere.fscked.org/fireflies/
best screensaver i found to date. i swap between that and electric sheep all the time. never really used anything else since then. - RobSaint, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've always like the GL Tron Screen saver..
http://homepage.mac.com/walisser/gltronsaver/ - DocDEB, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2One of the best things about vUpstream is that it is a quartz composer file that you can open and learn how it was done.
- Dithre, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5This screensaver rules. Simple and elegant.
- Kakaze, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Woah...the Mister Sparkle screen saver is in the top ten?
What an incredibly craptacular list. - rspeed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Hells yeah. I love that screensaver. It makes the wannabe astrophysicist inside me so happy.
- bjoernz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i like RandomWeb.
http://cellardoorsw.com/?page_id=5 - rabidjester, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2There's a link to it on the main list page, but it seems to be intel only. Doesn't load the bundle on PPC :( Guess we can wait til his quota problems are resolved and grab the universal or PPC version.
- rolozo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2What about XScreenSaver?
http://www.jwz.org/xscreensaver/ - rick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1These aren't the 10 'best' screen savers for OS X, but throughout the comments I have found some other great screen savers that are great. This gets my digg.
- NemWS, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The PPC version of RedPill is available (mirrored) here:
http://hyperarchive.lcs.mit.edu/HyperArchive/Archive/app/ss/red-pill-142.hqx - sung, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i need a mr.sparkle screensaver for PC!,
- TheZetetic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I rarely use a screensaver, but when I do, it is PongSaver. All my friends are in awe of it.
- stukdog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ClockSaver is my favorite.
http://www.freemacware.com/clocksaver/ - bigbrother1984, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Another interesting list that was run some days ago:
http://www.macrecon.com/2006/07/28/great-mac-icons-and-screensavers/ - rarun98, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I love macs but cant afford one yet, can we get a list of the 10 best windows screensavers? gracias
- 20miles, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I still prefer the default RSS screensaver. With headlines by Digg of course.
- klaupacius, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Well done. I use the built in iTunes album art myself because I am a music fanatic, but some of these will be great when I need a change. Impressive list!
- thenoseymethod, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0really nice selection. i rarely bother with screensavers, i usually just close the laptop. but this is worth checking out.
- dpcamp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1meesta spahkalo!! meesta spahkalo!!
konichiwa - DocDEB, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1All of these screen savers are sweet but some how I keep coming back my collection of APOD pictures. Astronomy Picture of the Day ( http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/calendar/allyears.html ) is such a great resource for desktop pictures and screen saver goodies. I use APOD Grabber ( http://www.railheaddesign.com/ ) nice and simple but only PPC.
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Personally, when looking for a screensaver, I want a nice balance of visuals and cpu needed to run it. The last thing you want is your CPU to be slaving away when your computer is supposedly idle. Give me something sweet and simple and I'm happy.
- skube, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My friend is making an Aquarium screen saver. Not a tropical one, like you've probably seen before, but a freshwater one. Only PC for now, but Mac version will be eventually available. He used to do effects for movies in Hollywood. He quit to just work on what really interested him. Fish. Go figure.
Anyway check it out, no spyware, no virus. Just a guy working out of his parent's house.
