- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+51Finally; a series of tubes.
- Linkage155, on 10/12/2007, -1/+38Dude.. its like.. 4mb's... This isn't the 90's anymore buddy;
- realpolitik, on 10/12/2007, -3/+29It's about time someone came up with a solution to YouTube's god-awful layout.
Not sure how well this client will do if its not freeware though. - frem001, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27i'm sure someone will use the same idea, just make it look like vista. You really have to hand it to Mac developers, they do some great work!
- rjcarr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24Yeah, this isn't CSI; sorry, you can't make a copy better than the original.
- rjcarr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Valuable real-estate? If you weren't a torrent-kiddy you wouldn't need 500GB of disk space. I have about 300 albums ripped to my 80GB powerbook and still have about 25GB left over. Oh, and this app is what, 4-5MB? It's safe to delete "hit me baby one more time" to free up the space.
- captbaritone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14For me, that's the beauty of OSX. The GUI of every program is consistent, so I don't have to learn a new interface for each program I download.
- calebb, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Slightly related:
The latest version of XBox Media Center includes some Python scripts for playing youtube and google videos on your TV.
http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/ - nofxjunkee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Why on earth do you need a mail "client"? You have one; it's called a browser.
No one *needs* it. In fact, no one *needs* YouTube. What's your point? Don't like it, don't use it. - jholdaway, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10looks great! I wonder what CBS will think of the name. http://www.cbs.com/innertube/
- pyro116, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I just wanted to note that this is not my app, just previewing it. ;)
- stratmancj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Cool idea, but clients like this will force youtube to put ads before the videos which will really suck
- lagged, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Necessary evil, really. One of the easier/only ways of making revenue when people embed their videos on other sites.
- clownx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6This isn't the dream app.
- longofest, on 10/12/2007, -6/+10so much for YouTube getting ANY ad revenue... although they don't get revenue when you embed either...
Slick-looking interface though... dugg! - JeremyBanks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Alpha releases are typically not available to the public...
- TravisS, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3With Youtube I find the best way to watch is to just put it full screen and sit a little farther back you won't notice the pixelation as much. Most youtube videos are just fun little things like daily show where the quality doesn't really matter
- ericeman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I sometimes watch Big Brother: Housecalls on CBS InnerTube so that was my first thought as well.
That looks like some great software there but its gotta be freeware. The whole reason you go on YouTube is because its free- I wouldn't (and don't believe other people would) pay to convienently sift through the latest in Diet Coke & Mentos, Renetto, etc. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3rjcarr, what encoder and bitrate do you use?
- antdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Is it me or is the blue background in the Web page a bad color? I couldn't read the texts.
- edzieba, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8It improves the interface, but the video quality is still eye-wateringly poor.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8All the poker chips are clogging the tubes. How is my staff going to be able to send me an Internet in time?
- pyro116, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sure, just like the embed option they have for blogs. They won't care, because at this stage of the game what they care most about is getting the word out, and promoting use of YouTube, not turning a profit off of advertising.
- macewan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this sounds like a wonderful piece of software
- FlyingLlama, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@SqueakyWheel
silly, tubes dont go down they get clogged! - pyro116, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hahaha, yep, I took your idea, gave it to a friend, and he cooked this app up in 4 days. Are you kidding me? I've been testing builds since WWDC, sorry it turned out this way.
- sgreger1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The tubes are all clogged up! Seems as though someone is sending an internet through them
- Cannon13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Is digg messed up or did this just get burried?
- calebb, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/wiki/index.php?title=List_of_working_scripts
- frem001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1how long ago was that? didn't that competition open up recently? well if you submit an idea that doesn't win, but is still a good idea something should still be done with it... if you can't do it someone else will.
- marioluigi123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Enter InnerTube, the new YouTube client that my friend Steve Streza has been working on for the past few weeks."
This Phill Ryu guy isn't the one whose making it, so that should put the "he never releases freeware" thing to rest. - theonlyvlad, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4looks less flashy than i expected i guess. everything in osx looks essentially the same. looks very nice, mind you, but basically, the same
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I wonder how long it will take YouTube to disable all functionality in this application once they realise they are paying for the bandwidth and no ads are being clicked....
- dloko, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2My bad! :)
- thejadedmonkey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Does any body know of a download link to the alpha?
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Was that last part necessary at all, dontbejack? It sounds QUITE a bit like you're just trying to brag up something ridiculously stupid.
Yeah, I could use these programs, but I prefer to do it bit by bit in my head, and then visualize what it would look like after being converted. - stratmancj, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Youtube:

http://www.exprofesso.com/itubes/
Has more features than InnerTube and is platform independent! - yonis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1dontbejack - VLC actually plays FLV in most cases... Just use keepvid.com to save the video, drop the file into the playlist, and you're set. :-)
- Kitsune818, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Poor you. My condolences to your family and loved ones in this time of need.
(Do you really think anyone cares what you posted?) - jholdaway, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Don't be so snappy.. Maybe he doesn't know what clients are for.
Clients, (chat, mail, etc) are ways to get to the content without advertisements and with additional, alternate and often customizable navigation and control.
Some work better than the official release some worse. I love my AdiumX for chatting but it doesnt do voice conference and picture sharring with some services which is very importaint to some. Other things are importaint to me. - dloko, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I don't think Phill Ryu has ever made a free app.. but all I know is that I bought NewsFire. Not sure what the use is of forking out cash to watch low-res videos that are hosted freely online in an interface that's more aesthetically pleasing than the online counterpart. Unless he offers some really cool funtionality.
- nofxjunkee, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3I'll respond to negativity like that as snappily as I like, thanks. If he doesn't know what a client is for he should find out first.
- noahhoward, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Someone will more than likely develop a freeware version.
- corporate70, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1It isn't released yet. This could be vapor-ware. Why tell everyone about your super cool app (which I will say it looks impressive) if you can't ship it.
Dugg down as lame since it has not been released. Submit this story again once I can try it out. - lagged, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I convert the videos, too, only to be able to view all of them in my favorite player. Beats having a dedicated flash video player, and another player for everything else.
- SqueakyWheel, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Damn! The tubes are down. http://www.gamecaption.com/2006/08/24/parrabellum-mission-objective-tube-security/
- robthebrew, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0This app is sooo alpha, it's not even available. No point in digging something we can't try.
- dcoolidge, on 10/12/2007, -9/+7As long as you don't use a dump truck...
- tbuhp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0were do you download this app?
