- ImPerial99, on 11/25/2008, -35/+448In my opinion the little ***** doesn't need any damn discount. (8 core mac pro $5000+ Imac $1500+ MacBook $1000+) + Pirated copy of FCP2 off piratebay= A rich mac owner that's got a pair. wait that's not possible.
- kevin52094, on 11/25/2008, -24/+382first off, this is just an example of a spoiled kid getting more spoiled. if you (or your parents) can afford 3 different Macs, you obviously aren't tight on money.
He should of sold the imac or macbook and use the money on the software.
And the spelling and grammar is just atrocious. (and grammar nazis, dont get on my case: this is a digg comment, not a letter to a multi-billionaire.) - dhughes, on 11/25/2008, -3/+305 Dear Mr. Hefner...
- serif69, on 11/25/2008, -4/+253Two days later on consumerist: Apple Sends High School Student Invoice for Final Cut HE DIDN'T EVEN ORDER!
- inactive, on 11/25/2008, -14/+200wait.....he has the money to buy an 8 core mac?.. but cant pony up the dough to by final cut.?...

- tdj114, on 11/25/2008, -18/+159My kid can totally beat the crap out of this spoiled, Spielberg wannabe...

- soze1, on 11/25/2008, -1/+99Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't Greenwich one of the richest areas in the country?
- imzache, on 11/25/2008, -2/+86Spoiled rich kids get what they want?
Who knew. - jjones20, on 11/25/2008, -0/+82Damn, when i was in high school pentium 3s were out, and i had a 333mhz pentium 2, and it had to last me all 4 years of high school.
it was downhill to school though, and i had shoes, so it wasnt all bad. - inactive, on 11/25/2008, -4/+81His first apple computer was 20'' Intel iMac, that's barely three years ago. Wow, a big ***** fan.
- Konrad9, on 11/25/2008, -2/+70If the little ***** goes to high school in Greenwich he doesn't need any company to send him free *****. He could hop in his mommy (or daddy's, I'm sure they both have one in different colors) Escalade and drive to the private airport, take the chartered private jet, and fly out to California and buy the damn thing with his Visa Platinum card.
- inactive, on 11/25/2008, -1/+63"It is home to many hedge funds and other financial service companies that have left"
"In July 2005, CNN/Money and Money magazine ranked Greenwich 12th on its list of the 100 Best Places to Live in the United States"
"The median income for a household in the town is $99,086, and the median income for a family is $122,719"
Answer: Yes. - AncientWeird, on 11/25/2008, -4/+64sorry....... "should have"
/only trying to help make this a better world - ToastPop, on 04/17/2009, -2/+58So you program your own Final Cut Studio? Sounds intense.
- shawnsonium, on 11/25/2008, -3/+59I hear Peter Griffin's voice when I read that sentence. It feels like it's missing a follow-up comedic cutaway featuring a course of events briefly unrelated to the plot.
I watch too much Family Guy. - zachtib, on 11/25/2008, -2/+57Dear Steve Jobs,
Can I have a student discount on a maxed out Macbook Pro?
Thanks,
zachtib - Coottie, on 11/25/2008, -5/+58I'll bet the story was BS and he's going to ebay the software and buy a new Dell.
- KloroFormd, on 11/25/2008, -2/+51Holy ***** I thought I was the only one!
- ZeroCubed, on 11/25/2008, -3/+52*sigh* The sad thing is, that he's gonna the only one getting it free, or just one of a lucky few. Bet any letter after this asking for free software or a computer is gonna get rejected. I have to wait another year or two to get a new mac - my current one will probably go to my brother or sister.
- MeatyMcBeef, on 11/25/2008, -2/+49I wrote a letter to my ex and all I got was the herp. :(
- viv4l4b4m03, on 11/25/2008, -1/+46I have a feeling he's gonna be getting many more e-mails like this after more people read it. :/
- Sil369, on 11/25/2008, -3/+48zing!
- WhatPeriod, on 11/25/2008, -5/+48Haha I'm uses bad grammar and you cannot do nothing about it!
- IJstickI, on 11/25/2008, -0/+42ppl from greenwich, CT dont need discounts
- jask0, on 11/25/2008, -1/+40That's a huge box it comes in.
- AzureRise, on 11/25/2008, -1/+39Me too, they even gave me free lifetime upgrades to all future versions!
- aalmeida259, on 11/25/2008, -8/+45did the email come with a handjob?
- snobrder218, on 11/25/2008, -16/+53A lot of PC owners simply buy a new part so they don't have to spend a ***** fortune on a whole new computer.
- whiteonyx981, on 11/25/2008, -0/+35From the letter? What'd you do, rub it all over your dick?
- Zenham, on 11/25/2008, -2/+36No, but it did come with a Steve Job....
- Joeymarshmallow, on 11/25/2008, -4/+37Maybe it would be a better idea if they sent out FCS2 to his High School so that everyone there could use it, not just him. He's obviously not in dire need of this super high end video editing software.
The point is, apple could make better calls about who they're shipping $1300 packages off to. - thebrokenlight, on 11/25/2008, -6/+36I hate how any submission about Apple or Microsoft degrades into one big OS dick-waving competition.
- LemonChicken, on 11/25/2008, -3/+33He's from Greenwich. I guarantee you his parents are CEO/ Doctor/ Lawyer(s).
- centerblack, on 11/25/2008, -27/+56Eh. lol. This cracks me up. You people rip on Steve Jobs and call him an arrogant ***** 99.9% of the time. Then when some kid asks for an educational discount, and gets FCS2 completely free, the good deed gets ignored and the kid gets ripped on because his parents have an expensive computer.
You don't even know if they bought the computer(s) new. A lot of mac owners sell their computers every year to upgrade to the new one without paying a crazy premium.
Continue with the biased commentary. - giggl3, on 11/25/2008, -1/+30I love your work, I am truly inspired by the people you photograph, so I am writing you this letter Mr. Hefner to ask kindly if I could get a VIP tour of the Playboy mansion.
I have collected over 500 copies of playboy and spent many hours pleasuring myself and I only wish to pleasure one of your playboy bunnies.
Thank you, signed..
P.S. I love how you photograph women in arousing positions, I only wish to observe your work and someday adapt to it as well.
This article is a joke no one would ask a CEO for a free copy of a software you can download... - doctornkul, on 11/25/2008, -2/+31Well the kid's got 3 Macs, including a 4-5000 dollar mac pro, so obviously he's one rich kid who somehow needs $1300/$700 video editing software. So yes, he is rich and probably lives in an affluent area.
- Sil369, on 11/25/2008, -0/+28and bricks
- FyberOptic, on 11/25/2008, -11/+38First of all, as people have already pointed out, this kid didn't need anything for free. Most Mac users don't, really, cause if you can afford to waste that much money just for some shiny white plastic, then you can buy your software at full price.
Second, let's not forget that it wasn't Steve Jobs who mailed this to him at all. Steve is generally a dick to Apple fans. He's a dick in general too, based on the fact that he stole from and lied to Wozniak back in the day; the same man who made Jobs who he is today. Wozniak was the genius behind Apple. Jobs was just the greedy go-getter that the company first needed to get off its feet. After that, he was just a crazy tyrant who the company eventually kicked out for being too insane. They just let him back in since the company was failing there in the 90's, and I guess they figured they had nothing to lose. Microsoft giving them tons of money to keep them afloat fixed that problem, though. They needed to keep their competition alive to avoid more lawsuits. All of these little tidbits are findable on the web and in interviews, mind you, before anyone feels the need to defend the creep.
Anyway, that said, it's nice to hear that they would send the kid a free copy of the software, regardless of the fact that he could have obviously afforded it. Kudos to Richard Townhill. - Zenham, on 11/25/2008, -0/+26I wrote mine in Javascript with my toes while I was napping this evening after dinner, but I forgot to save when I powered down the notebook.
Doesn't matter, I don't edit video anyway. - GoldenGlovez, on 11/25/2008, -0/+25If that was Greenwich, CT. This little ***** did not need a discount on that. I live near there, its a millionaire mega-town.
- dig1x, on 11/25/2008, -6/+30http://www.microsoft.com/Education/studentselect.m ...
MS has an extensive discount for students.
http://www.microsoft.com/student/discounts/theulti ... - inactive, on 11/25/2008, -1/+25I forgive you because that is probably the most annoying grammar mistake in the world.
- colincornaby, on 11/25/2008, -3/+25"8 core mac pro $5000"
8 core Mac Pro is only $2500. - PixelEater, on 11/25/2008, -10/+31Hurf durf Mac users don't have balls. Turd fight!
- bobdance, on 11/25/2008, -2/+23Hell yes. Windows Movie Maker here I come.
