Mac: I guess i'll play, uhhh...
all MS has to do is air one of those videos with a big "LMFAO" [pause, clear screen, pause] "PWNED" at the end. - JazonBladen, on 10/12/2007, -16/+36I don't know. The Mac guy must be pretty suave to get that Japanese girl. She was hot.

- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -17/+29hip?
he comes off as a spoilt, smug ***** who smokes weed all day and lives off his trust fund from 'mommy and daddy' - goffy59, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16Apple does the same thing. So does every other company. Get over it!
- Desolite, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14because it took over a week for someone to decide to post it?
it looks like 240+ people (at the moment) haven't seen it yet... so why don't you just stop being such a negative nancy before i start calling you negative nancy. - actionscripted, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11WTF is up with all the buried comments? Losing faith in Digg...
You're supposed to weigh the content of a comment in terms of its contribution to the discussion of the posted article, not whether you agree or not. ***** children. - chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12this needs it's own Fark contest.
barry scott, lmfao... "Watch as this PC encodes this video, WOW!!!" - stephenwq, on 10/12/2007, -7/+14"You know, Microsoft should do their own I'm a PC I'm a mac commercials, except Barry Scott as the PC."
Fixed.
HI IM BARRY SCOTT - zeno60, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10...don't forget zorg, breakout...

- noahhoward, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Yeah, they say while you guys are off playing your games we're out playing your women.
Seriously though, wtf? Those are some of the stupidest things I've ever heard people say about Mac users... and PC users. Reading way too much into those commercials. - fsapo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Q:How many microsoft programmers are needed to change a light bulb?
A: None, they change the standard to dark.
... my english is terrible.. sorry about that :) - somerandomnerd, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9I don't think Apple provides everything with the OS *when they sell it as an OS.*
When they sell a box containing a computer, OS and applications, then I don't see a problem with them including applications in the box.
An example of the difference between the two companies practices;
Apple made a web browser called Safari, which used parts of the Konqueror engine. Konqueror is open source, and Apple complied with the terms of the licence.
Microsoft licenced a web browser from Spyglass, in a deal that gave Spyglass a cut of the sales. They then called it Internet Explorer and gave it away for free, making it impossible for Spyglass to collect revenue from Microsoft's licence, or to licence it out to anyone else. (Microsoft were successfully sued, but by the time it had come to settlement, Spyglass had no chance of re-entering the market.) - JamieThompson90, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Oh god the mac dident mention WGA did he...
- rezophonic, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7@RandallBe:
It's not the PC that gets the viruses, it's the users. I use a PC and get practically no viruses and minimal spyware (most the stuff I find are cookies, and Adaware decided to delete my Dictionary.com toolbar because it thought it was malicious... Those bastards helping me look up words...). Secondly, it seems there are more PC users than Mac users and thusly it would stand to reason that it would be more advantageous to target PC users with viruses, etc. Granted, it would stand to reason that many Mac users are a bit better educated about their products than many PC users in that they had to learn something to deviate from the typical purchase, but there are plenty of other PC users who know better than to click every random link and open every unidentifiable e-mail attachment and therein manage to avoid viruses.
Moreover, my computer doesn't crash, and I have no problem with it interfacing with peripherals.
At any rate, it's not the PC, but PEBKAC. I figure if we had a large market shift, the users I speak of would eventually have the same problems on the Macs as they do on the PCs (and, from experiences with some of my less nerdy friends, I find this to be true).
Further, I've always seen ad campaigns like this as "We're not good enough to win you on our own, so we're just going to do our best to make the other guy look bad instead of making ourselves look good by resorting to childish name-calling (or, sadly enough, election year politics)."
As for the game thing, PCs are undoubtedly better than Macs, and consoles have their advantages, but they lack aspects of the PC that many gamers wouldn't want to give up, and they're just beginning to catch up with online gaming, updating and whatnot.
Don't bash PCs without knowing what you're talking about. Feel free to insult those users that get viruses and crash their PCs, however. - orbstra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4mac would have been better represented by this guy

- vdxc, on 09/29/2008, -2/+5just stop complaining? you seem to think the whole world sits around their computer monitoring every single website. some of us have lives you know
- goffy59, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This fanboyism ***** reminds me of.... My daddy can beat your daddy up!
- mikeabundo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6On a PC booting: "What happened here is a miracle, and I want you to f*cking acknowledge that!"
- scratt, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6@Fishheadswg: If you are so ahead of the times.. *yawn* Then why didn't you get off your fat arse and post it so people could see it. Idiot.
- GeneralFailure, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You're giving digg too much credit. When someone posted an article contrasting being dugg, slashdotted, and boingboinged at the same time it showed that being boingboinged is worse than being dugg.
... And worth1000 is boingboinged on a regular basis. - Avengelist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The whole Mac vs. Pc thing is tired. everyone needs to just give it up.
- Grimdotdotdot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Bye then!
- spacebar14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2you've obviously never seen apples new commercials...
- gatorb6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2pic made me laugh. that's it...no need to debate or add lame comments on why apple is great/sucks, why windows is great/sucks, etc
- shmatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Everyone seems to ignore that the commercials aref aimed at total noobs, email, interweb, office. To that end, they are somewhat effective, unfortunately they do come off a little smug, but that can be effective.
we all have our biases though, so those who know a thing are two wont really be moved by the ads. Say it was two cell phone carriers, though, and you get the idea why they tried this angle... it's a good time for Apple to get people to switch - orbstra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2that actually looks pretty sweet!
- noahhoward, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Where'd you figure that out, last I heard they had a lot of reports sayign that people were buying the Macs, and either a). never bothering to put XP on them, b). dual booting for a little while then uninstalling XP or c). switching to XP only when they needed.
- exalted, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4chris9902,
Apple does promote to college students, but the college I go to offers Microsoft products for free if you're majoring in some sort of computer technology. Even if your not, they still offer it at a very reasonable price for students, so I'm sure most widely known colleges have some sort of agreement too. - InternetUser, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Tip for you: when you're watching TV and the ad-break comes on..close your eyes and put your fingers in your ears :)
- CatalystGhost, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, considering how most of the comments barely even contribute a thing (this IS digg, after all...), we do have pretty good reason to mod down most of these guys.
- Tabris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It is. Like a Macintosh apple :). But I guess it could be My Apple Comp as well
- CatalystGhost, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Did you figure that one out on your own, Sherlock, or did Watson have to help you out?
- estvir, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7This from a 'Bad ad' contest at Worth1000, the rest can be viewed here - http://www.worth1000.com/cache/contest/contestcache.asp?contest_id=11155&start=1&end=10&display=photoshop - some are really funny.
A favourite of mine - http://www.worth1000.com/emailthis.asp?entry=304392 ;) - laurentlasalle, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3MAC... It's important to put it in capital letters, as it is an acronym that stands for My Apple Computer, everyone knows that!
(Not...) - elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I thought Mac is a shortening of Macintosh.
- dickrichie, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Go try building a Dell laptop with the specs of the MacBook. I think youll be surprised at how wrong you are. After all the add ons you have to apply the dell doesnt seem like such a a great deal. Spec for Spec the Mac is almost always less expensive.
- archerx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4RandallBe,
Please tell me which console has more games then a PC. - nate263, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I watch the ads and I say to myself "That could be a really effective ad to someone" instead of "Damn, I want a mac" Ironically, I do, but the ad doesn't do much for me.
Oh yeah, uh, good pic. -
