- tarun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Every time I watch Apple keynotes the audio cuts out and I have to start over again. I've got a good connection.
Anyone else experiencing this? - tacojohn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Connection worked fine for me in all of it's H.264 glory!
- chrisdelta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Breathtaking my ass. Is this all they can give us these days? A smaller iPod? Wow, that's so revolutionary. It makes sliced bread look like nothing in comparison...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes, Steve... it is BREATHTAKING!
Kudos Apple! - notkevin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can't wait to watch it to see what Steve wears this time!
- squeeze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0its starting to crap out on my 5:57 into it...oh well...one thing i did notice tho was 10million people registered (with credit cards) to itunes. Buying an average of 60 songs...that $600 million. Wish I iTunes was my idea :p
- CaptSnuffy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0BUY HARRY POTTER
BUY MADONNA
besides those horrible plugs, the statistics were actually amazing (if true). The new ipod? eh.
My favorite part: Steve Jobs mentioning the windows version of iTunes specifically. Either he was sucking up to windows users trying to ge tthem to switch sides, or he really cared. I think the latter, but im still not switching to macs. Nice guy. - Chango_Family, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I swear the Mac guys at work were wetting their panties this week in anticipation of the hallowed leader's marketing extravaganza. So what miracle of technology do we get? A smaller MP3 player. Wow. How underwhelming. No one has ever thought of that before. I guess the multiple colour options will be something they'll announce next year. What next? A new version of Itunes. Software upgrades are recycled news. And finally a phone/mp3 combination. Too bad my friend Keith in Tokyo has had one for quite a while and that they forced people to use a company like Cingular. I know, I know,...Apple takes an existing product and designs 'cool' into it which explains the price people are willing to pay. I might be expecting too much from an event which is nothing more than a sales pitch for a recent variation of a known product. But Apple is at its best when it innovates even with fugly beasts like the iMac G4 that dare to buck conformity. I so prefer it when their engineering department is at the forefront than their marketing. Damn that Hertzfeld, im starting to sound like him!
- kev01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the video size was fine for me, watched it in a full screen window and it played smooth, update ur quicktime!
- Myzt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Could the video be any smaller? this may as well be a podcast
- KriLL3.2™, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0stramrip ftw. :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wonder why he didn't mention Quicktime 7 on Windows?
- weezerrock86, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0usually if you digg through your temp internet files and find the file that was the stream and change it to .MOV it works.
- yy4u, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i want one of each! GIMMIE!
- LazyBoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ill wait couple days to watch :(
- kev01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0WTF @ having kanye west perform...
and ipod nano is hot. - thecapitalizt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You have to admit, pulling it out of the useless pants pocket was ridiculously crafty. I mod him up for that.
- droxy429, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0you can save the file.. but u need quicktime pro
anyways.. cool link..
*diggs - CaptSnuffy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0But actually, that itunes phone looks awesome. I'd love to combine my ipod and phone into one device becuase i think a phone takes up too much space for how often i use it (which isnt very often).
- TigerClaw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So far no Video Ipod yet, Oh well, Heh.
- Sferrero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yay, ive been waiting for this
But looks like im gonna have to wait since everyone is connecting right NOW.
Ill do it tommorow - rayskin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It doesn't help that thousands of people are trying to stream it at once.
- LazyBoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah there is now way im going to be able to stream it on my crappy dsl connection.
- rayskin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Apple has always done a good job of protecting the video file so you can only stream it. If someone finds it, please share.
- sdenike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Anyone have the keynote for download? My internet @ home is so horrible I cant even stream it :( ... If you have it please post it or email me a linke @ shelby(at)7pounds.net. thanks.
- Bandito, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0New version of iTunes... talks about Podcasting...
... and yet still no way to export/import my subscribed podcasts to opml for backup/restore. - itjamesd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0haha wasnt it funny when ron garriques from motorolla started gwen stefan's song with a swear word being the first thing that demonstrated the "stereo" speakers.
- gaius_baltar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0iTunes 5 is teh sweetness... nano is cool but overpriced!
- trunkster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For the choppiness I was able to fix it by changing my Streaming Speed to 1.5 Mbps, it appears their automatic setting isn't working correctly.
I don't know why but I find it funny how they have said ***** and ***** at an Apple event, and bashing George Bush. Also all the people in the audience just sitting there while Kayne West was rapping. Haha if I was Apple I would have a statement about these views not reflecting Apple's. Or maybe... they do... - HankQuinlan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have the update, and the player said it was playing at 30 FPS, but it was still choppy. It wasn't using very much of my processor either. Weird.
- ryanwarren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The stream was way better than past Jobs speeches. It was streamed very smooth. Probably due to the Quicktime update. Also the Nano is wicked cool.
- HankQuinlan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think I'm defining 'choppy' a bit differently than some. The stream is OK, and I'm not having any drop-outs. The player is reporting a frame rate of 30 FPS, it just looks like 10. I'm pretty sure this is intentional as I just tried it on another PC in my house--it's just annoying.
- chriskzoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0LOL How terrible did Kanye West sound Live, versus his studio produced tracks. He's about one notch above Puffy (errr Diddy) on the talent depth chart - which isn't saying much.
- ryanwarren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love how Quicktime refuses to allow me to export the file with AUDIO INCLUDED! WTH!
- traws, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Its not working it for me. It opens Quiktime, i press play then nothing happens. WTF?!
- einsteindesign, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, those CIngular commercials... this is gonna be a huge deal. It's such a simple sell!
I freakin' hate Cingular, but if I were an "average" customer this would probably make me consider their service, not to mention the fact that they're available now (at the new school year) so kids will be begging mom & dad for that one.
Wow. Powerhouse. - JRMillion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I thought Kanya sounded pretty good, especially considering he was standing on an empty stage, singing to a track, with an audience of people who didn't seem to give a sh*t about his performance :)
A friend of mine ordered me a 4GB Black Nano as a thank you gift for me doing his websites for free. I have an older 15GB ipod, and I am looking forward to checking out the new one. - rowhard99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0CLASSIC KEYNOTE QUOTE from Kanye West, "I'd like to thank Steve Jobs for still letting me perform."
- Snyder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+01) Kanye sounded quite good. Especially considering the venue, crowd awkwardness, etc. P.S. If someone ever compares Kanye West to P Diddy again (as an insult), they're getting slapped. That's just wrong.
2) What is the quote from Kanye referring to? "I'd like to thank Steve Jobs for still letting me perform"
3) I am baffled by the lack of even a mention to Quicktime 7 finally being released for Windows. - trunkster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Man the Cingular guy is a total goon."
So true, I thought the exact same thing. Thinking a guy like that is running my wireless service made me a bit uneasy.. but it's not like any of the other careers have anyone better.
Cingular is know to have low customer service, which I can vouch for when it has taken two times to finally get my Internet KB to be read right. It's not cool to get a bill for $200 because of KB usage when I am on unlimited. Hopefully they have fixed the problem but I wouldn't be surprise if the next bill still will have those KB usage on there. I have the Audiovox SMT5600 and I don't plan to get the new itunes phone.. I can already put the music I want on there AND watch music videos compress with xvid/divx. And I hate that motorola font, looks so old. - alexhoward, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dude, its not the fact that there's a smaller iPod available replacing the mini that's a big deal. Its the fact that now they have standardized the color screen across the line, preparing for being able to sell and display video. This is like the iPod Photo. Who gives a crap about looking at pictures on your iPod and displaying them on a TV screen? No one. But it gets an iPod out with a color screen. These are subtle moves to making the iPod a true portable multimedia device.
- FuzzyBunny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Man the Cingular guy is a total goon.
- da_bradler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0steve jobs has to stop letting other people talking at his *****, the cingular guy was the worst. wish apple would have designed the phone too
- warren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why on earth does he compare the iPod nano to the Sony HD5 saying that the nano is 67% smaller when the HD5 has 500% more storage space and uses a hard drive????? He should be comparing the HD5 to the the full iPod and saying that the HD5 is 20% smaller!!
- ndm007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0''Was that Leo Laporte in the audience at the end of the show?''
Im pretty damn sure it was - austin-dude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Was that Leo Laporte in the audience at the end of the show?
- sdenike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No download yet :(
- the_snitch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I need a downloaded h.264 version. What about all of us who CANT stream becuae our net speed sux so much
- juggertehnut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Haha. When the guy that explain about the Motorola ROKR played the Hollaback Girl, the start of the song is right to "This my Sh*t all the girls stomp...". His reaction was hillarious.
- Gotar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1George Bush doesn't care about ipod nano.
