Sneaky Steve Wozniak Cuts In Line At iPhone 3G Launch

gizmodo.com — More bad news from the iPhone 3G iPocalypse: Steve Wozniak, creator of the Apple II and a hero of many geeks the world over cut in line at the Apple Store. Nevertheless, if the line cutting story is true, and there's photographic evidence that suggests it is, then apparently Woz and a posse couldn't really be bothered with line sitting at all.

In his interview with Leo, he stated that he had gone to the Valley Fair mall for the original launch, and then had planned to go to his local store for the 3G launch, but there were several folks at the front of the Valley Fair line that got in touch with him and said that his appearance in 07 was the best part of the wait and that they were holding a spot at the front for him. He specifically stated he'd show up about 4 hours in advance and chat with people and sign autographs and such, and that the folks in the front were holding him a spot. So yes he cut, but he didn't just do it because he is the Woz, he did it because folks were encouraging him to do it.

CNet is not ValleyWag so some research was necessary before printing garbage like this. And adding a question mark to the article title (which wasn't there before) does NOT make everything better.

      The story was not true and therefore people should respond to CNet somehow.

      This is 2 years running_ And both time he publicly talked down about the phone before he shows up to cut in line_

      If he doesn't like the phone so much then he needed to come out of hybernation and go back to Apple and help design the next version so that it has everything he would like to see in it there_

      Regardless, he's Woz. If I'm in a lineup, I'll either let him cut in, or give him my spot. And that has nothing to do with him being an Apple employee or a founder, but he's genuinely a cool guy.

    I told them I would come at 10 AM and get in line and they told me back that the line would be short and they had talked to the people in front and that the people in front WANTED me to go first. I discussed the fact that I'd be with a small group too. The Apple store staff also said that the chairs and table in front of the store would be reserved for me. So sitting in those chairs I was in line. I am thankful for the chairs. I'm actually older than almost everyone in the lines these days.
