Sneaky Steve Wozniak Cuts In Line At iPhone 3G Launch
gizmodo.com — More bad news from the iPhone 3G iPocalypse: Steve Wozniak, creator of the Apple II and a hero of many geeks the world over cut in line at the Apple Store. Nevertheless, if the line cutting story is true, and there's photographic evidence that suggests it is, then apparently Woz and a posse couldn't really be bothered with line sitting at all.

- jmbrysk, on 07/13/2008, -20/+40Awww, come on! He wasn't buying it for himself, it was for Kathy Griffin.
- dantidote, on 07/13/2008, -2/+13It was for his other wife.
- tritongreek, on 07/13/2008, -4/+14He and Kathy are broke up.
- Aupajo, on 07/14/2008, -2/+1Your grammar are good.
- sp4rky, on 07/13/2008, -0/+4He is with Janet Hill "soon to be wife", or so he said on Twit Live during the 24 hours iphone stream. He also said that the store and some of the people wanted him to come down and be the first to get an iphone at that Apple store. Blogs should have done some checking before blowing this up.
- trunkster, on 07/13/2008, -3/+2On twitlive, Woz said that there were people at this store holding a spot for him in the front. The dude ***** created the Apple computer, come on. Funny though how he waited until the last minute, probably afraid all the fanboys would start humping him or something.
- kaplanfx, on 07/13/2008, -3/+304doesn't anyone listen to TWIT? In his interview with Leo, he stated that he had gone to the Valley Fair mall for the original launch, and then had planned to go to his local store for the 3G launch, but there were several folks at the front of the Valley Fair line that got in touch with him and said that his appearance in 07 was the best part of the wait and that they were holding a spot at the front for him. He specifically stated he'd show up about 4 hours in advance and chat with people and sign autographs and such, and that the folks in the front were holding him a spot. So yes he cut, but he didn't just do it because he is the Woz, he did it because folks were encouraging him to do it.
- SilentSpyder, on 07/13/2008, -5/+42Leo just got pissed at CNET during the radio show for doing this story. Remember to Burry As Inaccurate.

- mike17032, on 07/13/2008, -4/+43Being Woz is enough frankly, he has earned the right to cut in line for any Apple products.
- uberfu, on 07/13/2008, -21/+1No he hasn't_ He's been riding on one ***** thing for 25 years_
And last year he wasn't invited anywhere - he just cut in line 'cause he's a prick_ - gzusfreak, on 07/13/2008, -0/+5Get the story right uberfu
http://news.cnet.com/8601-1023_3-9989823.html?hhTe ... - trunkster, on 07/13/2008, -0/+5Yeah he truly is an engineer. He doesn't seem to care about the business part of things at all. His book was a very interesting read.
- uberfu, on 07/13/2008, -21/+1No he hasn't_ He's been riding on one ***** thing for 25 years_
- dhughes, on 07/13/2008, -2/+3 I doubt everyone in line was aware of that when they were there.
- mrjcleaver, on 07/13/2008, -2/+8Yup, please BURY THIS STORY.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=l-SkI6BqdBk - Urkel, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1What is the contact information to get the author called out for bad journalism? CNet is not ValleyWag so some research was necessary before printing garbage like this. And adding a question mark to the article title (which wasn't there before) does NOT make everything better.
The story was not true and therefore people should respond to CNet somehow.

- louiebaur, on 07/13/2008, -18/+4sneaky sneaky:-)
- stealthspc, on 07/13/2008, -10/+150Oh come on you guys. This is the guy who helped start the personal computer revolution. I think he gets cutting rights.
- tokabowla, on 07/13/2008, -33/+8Could you please remove your iPhone from your ass before commenting? I think it'd help. Just a lilbit.
- carpeclunes, on 07/13/2008, -0/+5I don't understand what part of stealthspc's comment your comment is directed at.
- tokabowla, on 07/14/2008, -1/+1"This is the guy who helped start the personal computer revolution."
iFanboy much?
- uberfu, on 07/13/2008, -20/+3He pulled this crap last year_ People had been waiting in line for a few days/ hours and then Woz shows up and cuts in line like he's ***** special_
Thanks for the computer revolution and all Woz but the end of the line is back there around the corner_
He's not that ***** special_
This is 2 years running_ And both time he publicly talked down about the phone before he shows up to cut in line_
If he doesn't like the phone so much then he needed to come out of hybernation and go back to Apple and help design the next version so that it has everything he would like to see in it there_- jmreid, on 07/13/2008, -0/+15Periods. Use them *****!
- stealthspc, on 07/13/2008, -1/+9You obviously know nothing about computer history. He is really REALLY important. It was he who build the first personal computer for Apple, Steve Jobs just sold it. Don't be ignorant.
Also I don't know why you do a _ instead of a period, but it's retarded. - gzusfreak, on 07/13/2008, -0/+5Once again, just like your previous comment, you need to get the story right.
http://news.cnet.com/8601-1023_3-9989823.html?hhTe ... - HolyChimp, on 07/13/2008, -1/+8Your keyboard seems to be broken. Round these parts we end our sentences with a full stop (or a period for the Americans). You seem to be using an underscore.
- KbuPlatinum, on 07/13/2008, -2/+14Not on pretzel day
/sass - DarrenLu, on 07/13/2008, -1/+3Amen!
- nonymous666, on 07/13/2008, -1/+5And helped start Apple. Jobs should be arranging for one of any new Apple product to be delivered to Woz's house on the morning of its release.
- edwartica, on 07/13/2008, -0/+4Or before its official release even.
- fuze44, on 07/13/2008, -0/+7Woz never gets his due respect. There would be no Apple without him, yet there he is having to stand in line at the store? Why isn't he getting the royal treatment?
- edwartica, on 07/13/2008, -0/+2Better yet, there would be no Chuck-e-cheese without him, and therefore my 8th birthday party would of sucked!
- rprather, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1I think you have Woz confused with Nolan Bushnell - the founder of Atari and Chuck-e-Cheeze
- tokabowla, on 07/13/2008, -33/+8Could you please remove your iPhone from your ass before commenting? I think it'd help. Just a lilbit.
- HookmasterCH47, on 07/13/2008, -19/+2No one I met last year at the launch called me. ***** pariahs.
- Matt2k, on 07/13/2008, -0/+2I think you got that concept backwards
- Mathieugothax, on 07/13/2008, -5/+74Seriously, who cares? Besides the people in that particular line. This is of no relevance.
- agentmedia, on 07/13/2008, -2/+1Yeah, but its good marketing
- TheBSG, on 07/13/2008, -1/+3In other news: Steve Jobs double dips.
- thegodfaza, on 07/13/2008, -15/+5Sneaky Woz... I'm tellin Leo.
- superkendall, on 07/13/2008, -13/+5Don't like my getting in line ahead of you? I'm the Wozniak, bitch!
- Chalks777, on 07/13/2008, -4/+25"...and then ambled up to the front of the queue when the store opened at 8 a.m and simply cut in line. No discussion."
How is this sneaky?- nogami, on 07/13/2008, -1/+5Uh... He's still an Apple employee - #1 for that matter - he can go pretty much where he wants to. If that includes an Apple store, I'm sure the employees would've happily handed him the keys and asked him to lock up when he's done.
Regardless, he's Woz. If I'm in a lineup, I'll either let him cut in, or give him my spot. And that has nothing to do with him being an Apple employee or a founder, but he's genuinely a cool guy.

- Arcotik, on 07/13/2008, -9/+70Who. Cares.
- Owned1Up, on 07/13/2008, -10/+60It's reported that he screamed "I'm Wozniak bitch" and promptly took his place.
- seanc6610, on 07/13/2008, -18/+1no it's not.
- WTF69, on 07/13/2008, -1/+7And then he bitch slapped the first person in line and said: "I'm Wozniak bitch."

- sl4x0r, on 07/13/2008, -1/+40Laporte talking about this right now, apparently Woz showed up at 4am and the Apple store asked him to leave the line and insisted that they save a space for him…looks like CNet is already pulling the story
- Troy64, on 07/13/2008, -6/+21Give the guy a break, he went out with Kathy Griffin for a while. That is punishment enough for anyone.
- uberfu, on 07/13/2008, -2/+1not when he may have felt he couldn't do much better!
- jrtcs, on 07/13/2008, -6/+62***** Gizmodo and C(BS)Net. Buried as inaccurate.
- GRAVEWiSH, on 07/13/2008, -16/+9i'd be like "Dont Cut me Bro!"
- uberfu, on 07/13/2008, -8/+4Right there with you on that!
- AppleGeorge, on 07/13/2008, -11/+4Hahaha, The Woz rules.
- Yuusharo, on 07/13/2008, -1/+37Story is innacurate. Woz was waiting in line at 4AM, the store said they would save his place in line and was there all morning just like everyone else. He even explained his plans on TWiT Live's coverage on Thursday night.
- mabhatter, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1they didn't need the crowd to get any larger with Woz there for so long!
- welliwonder, on 07/13/2008, -12/+2I'm so conflicted that I can't comment. :(
- sl4x0r, on 07/13/2008, -1/+63Author's email: greg.sandoval@cnet.com
Wozniak's response to this garbage story (Posted by CNet):
I told them I would come at 10 AM and get in line and they told me back that the line would be short and they had talked to the people in front and that the people in front WANTED me to go first. I discussed the fact that I'd be with a small group too. The Apple store staff also said that the chairs and table in front of the store would be reserved for me. So sitting in those chairs I was in line. I am thankful for the chairs. I'm actually older than almost everyone in the lines these days. - nightstar, on 07/13/2008, -2/+32The fall of CNET.... Now own by CBS...
- uberfu, on 07/13/2008, -5/+2where have you been - CNET has been crap for years!
- vinceislegend, on 07/13/2008, -14/+2Sure, but will it blend?
- zephyr42, on 07/13/2008, -17/+5NO ONE CARES APPLE FANBOYS!

- JinnRikki, on 07/13/2008, -7/+14Buried for being BS and Leo is pissed!
- jrtcs, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1I was watching TWiT Live earlier. I've never seen Leo that angry before.
- Sheeplike, on 07/13/2008, -6/+14buried & inaccurate. Anyone who listened to Leo would know this is a lie and cnet is looking for "ratings"...
- deaftly, on 07/13/2008, -6/+13Does anyone really give a ***** about this?
- Serphyas, on 07/13/2008, -4/+3You wouldn't think so, but this is Gizmodo and Digg we're talkin' about. "Oh god, Steve Wozniak and iPhone in the same place?" *circle-jerk*
- bobthedino, on 07/13/2008, -2/+17Here's what Woz had to say about this:
http://news.cnet.com/8601-1023_3-9989823.html?comm ... - Sheeplike, on 07/13/2008, -6/+6Leo is getting Woz on twit right now: http://www.twitlive.tv
- Meursault, on 07/13/2008, -4/+12Too bad he didn't Segway his ass up to the front of the line.
- asdfer, on 07/13/2008, -4/+6Video Proof or it didn't happen.
then again, it is Ji... I meant Gizmodo, they make stuff up as they go along. They always conveniently change their posting whenever they feel like to. Sensationalistic way of getting on Digg and the news. - HailfireX, on 07/13/2008, -9/+4He's lucky he wasn't in New York. Doesn't matter who the hell you are: back of the line.
- OffPiste, on 07/13/2008, -20/+4Fat lazy bastard.

- bengagnon19, on 07/13/2008, -1/+10The Store gave him permission to...he showed up and was like the 14th one there and they brought him somewhere to wait until they opened the doors. He was even talking with Leo Laporte before he headed over and told everyone that he was going to wait for it.
- judicar, on 07/13/2008, -6/+22Honestly, anyone who doesn't give up their place in line to Woz is an ass.
- paradexes, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1You mean Apple Fanbois? They tend to be asses alot. Just look at the Apple dude from the commercials :P
I kid I kid. It was Apple fans in the first place who let him in front anyway.
- paradexes, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1You mean Apple Fanbois? They tend to be asses alot. Just look at the Apple dude from the commercials :P
- arvvvs, on 07/13/2008, -3/+5Apparently even Steve Woz commented on teh story in CNET and he said that that Apple Employees allowed him there.

- twertyto, on 07/13/2008, -1/+8How can a photo prove someone cuts into line?
- jakethelake, on 07/13/2008, -1/+6How the hell is that photographic evidence of a line cut? All I see is a bunch of Joes standing around and some bald dude peering creepily through a window.
- ufia, on 07/13/2008, -4/+3He was there to be sourrounded by men. Because while a Mac looks fabulous, it just doesn't cut it anymore.
- sidian, on 07/13/2008, -3/+0see me rollin on ma segway....
I'd let the woz cut no prob. on the condition that i get an account on his kdx server...;) - WiZZLa, on 07/13/2008, -3/+3If no one will speak out against Woz for cutting in line, at least speak out against him for dating Kathy Griffin.
- wizkid32, on 07/13/2008, -2/+4Isn't he the co founder of Apple so he should be able to just walk in to any apple store and buy what ever he wants didn't he earn that right I think that he did. Also he was buying it for Kathy Griffin so he should get that blessing. Right on Woz.
