- thebuggalo, on 06/09/2008, -1/+10Sold!!
- akarpo, on 06/09/2008, -3/+12Like most things, this is about the money. Correct me if I'm wrong, but at&t currently offers some sort of TV on phones for $X/month.
Sling isn't being let in because at&t is being greedy and trying to protect a cash cow that maintains (probably) a pretty decent margin.
Apple is probably just asking Sling that the software client can only be used with wifi. Sling is obviously saying, "wtf, hell no", and that's why we are in our current state. - elvisinvegas, on 06/09/2008, -3/+11Proof of concept? That means full public release is only 7 betas away, woohoo!
- Daniel591992, on 06/09/2008, -2/+9I was hoping they would do this. It's a shame it won't be released tomorrow though. This makes the SlingPlayer and iPod Touch totally worth it!
- crazym0nkey01, on 06/09/2008, -3/+10Finally!
The real news here though is the argument surrounding "clack", the apple fanboy, in the comments section. - tboutcher, on 06/09/2008, -2/+9Live Local sports in my pocket! The iphone is the single greatest device for boyfriends who get dragged shopping by their girlfriends
- inactive, on 06/09/2008, -0/+6Yeah, I think you hit the nail on the head.
Apple might also be making a grab for a future AppleTV or streaming iTunes bid as well, and sling would kind of ruin that.
Regardless, they cannot KEEP sling from releasing their software, that would be anti-competitive and Apple would get their balls nailed. - S1ngular1ty1, on 06/09/2008, -0/+6Dang, this is going to make me hit my Time Warner cap even faster.

If you know of anymore, reply in the comments below. Hope the internet doesn't implode :) - inactive, on 06/09/2008, -0/+3And while I love my Slingbox, sling media is sllllloooooooooowwwwww in getting new software out.
- KanosWRX, on 06/09/2008, -1/+4Maybe you should add, cant' wait for Android to get released first :)
- mikephimikephi, on 06/09/2008, -0/+2Apple never stipulated on the release of alpha and beta products through its App.Store when it was announced back in the day. They mentioned things like pr0n, bandwidth hogs, etc.
If the app is unstable, but isolated from the iPhone OS, I see no reason why it couldn't be released on the same day as the App.Store...Be it tomorrow or whenever. - iseth, on 06/09/2008, -1/+3Bummer... I was liking the fact that I could use my Nokia Nseries phone w/ SlingPlayer mobile to make the iPhone people jealous. And to those of you who say AT&T won't allow it, I don't know what you're talking about. I've been using it for quite a while now on their 3G network.
- Daniel591992, on 06/09/2008, -0/+2Exactly. SlingMedia plans to release a device similar to the Apple TV in the future.
- veriix, on 06/09/2008, -1/+3...or you could grow a pair.
- vvaduva, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1This is very very cool! Finally...i can watch my own stuff any time I want :)
- inactive, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1This is a really big deal for me, as it was one of the three things preventing me from getting an iPhone. I never want to give up being able to watch TV anywhere, a Slingplayer was one of the best things I have gotten in a long time. Its worth buying a phone that it works on.
Another issue was lack of 3G, and that looks to be fixed as well.
The last issue is I need laptop tethering, if I can get that on an iPhone I will buy one as soon as the new ones are out.
Right now I am using a Tilt, and while I love the phone its just not as sexy as an iPhone. - calvmari, on 06/09/2008, -1/+2I can't wait until this gets released for Android.
- Daniel591992, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1It's not completed though, but it does look awesome
- Deist4Life, on 06/09/2008, -1/+2Awesome!
- insanebrain, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1BREAKING : OMG, IT'S BROKEN !!!
- ekula, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1whoa. i may have been convinced the price tag is worth it..
- digjam, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1I just wanted to add a dramatic touch to it ;-)
- Shakermaker, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1How about they work on getting the Vista gadget they announced two years ago up and running?
/loves my slingbox! - thebuggalo, on 06/10/2008, -1/+2go to hell you pompous, arrogant *****.
- allrecordsalex, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1it doesnt work on macs though
- Vertabreaker, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1The slingbox is IMO one of the greatest "gadgets" created in a long time. I've had one for about 4 years now and absolutely love it.
- xero69, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1As if people weren't addicted to their iPhones already. Introducing the new iSlave!
- xiangxianni, on 02/14/2009, -0/+1Thanks for this great post.

Step 4: Profit - scruffles, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1Keep your tin-foil hat on... the developer program is in beta. Lots of 1st tier companies aren't a part of it yet. It should be out of beta this week though.
- sgvprelude, on 06/09/2008, -1/+1iphone + slingbox = porn on the go!
- DanBoodro, on 06/09/2008, -1/+1i can vouch for that
- bigsteve, on 06/09/2008, -1/+1Meh, keep live TV. MythTV lets me watch things whenever I want on whatever device I want and without commercials. Even when this becomes available I probably still won't use it. Neat idea though, I guess.
- RedHerringHack, on 06/09/2008, -1/+1You know how to fix that? Buy expensive stuff just for you every time she drags you out. Fixed.
- misamiyo, on 06/13/2008, -0/+0i would love that application, that is nice!..
- SunAlex, on 08/28/2008, -0/+0I hope they will do this. really hope!

Step 2: Rick Roll the planet. - digjam, on 06/09/2008, -9/+3BREAKING: APPLE ONLINE STORES ARE UPDATING... POSSIBLY NEW PRODUCTS WILL BE ANNOUNCED TODAY
http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/A ... - Zemnexx, on 06/09/2008, -8/+1Lol, nice burn, a little under-handed, which I didn't think Sony had the ballz, but this isn't going to send a Massive wave of Xbox 360 owners to flock to your console, concentrate on making games and not insults.
