"Raise your hand if you have iTunes ...
Raise your hand if you have a FireWire port ...
Raise your hand if you have both ...
Raise your hand if you have $400 to spend on a cute Apple device ...
There is Apple's market. Pretty slim, eh? I don't see many sales in the future of iPod.
~LoudMusic" - desiv, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I didn't see any prediction there.
And, they said it was LAME, not that it wouldn't sell....
There's a difference.. - tokachu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I suppose I should explain further: the Slashdot editor (not the submitter, mind you) called the iPod "lame", and did, in fact, recommend the Nomad by merely mentioning that the iPod "has less space than a nomad [sic]". That's called an endorsement.
In the world of capitalism, the following typically applies: Better product = better sales, and vice versa. I don't see Creative Nomads on TV. Hell, I don't even see them playing music. I thought it was beyond hilarious that Slashdot, once considered to be on the cutting edge of technology, had an article that was eventually proved to be flat out wrong.
If Slashdot spamvertised Apple like they do with AMD processors, they would've probably given it two thumbs up. - kyriakos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2just apple did a better marketing job and a slightly better user interface. to be honest there have been and there still are a lof of better mp3 players out there with every generation of ipod coming out. its all a matter of marketing.
- BloodJunkie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2From a technical POV, that sounds like a good review because technically the iPod was lamer than the Nomad.
I don't see anywhere in that article where they predict how well it will sell, which is an entirely other subject. - dnthomps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So block him and shut up. And now bury me and the two above so this useless thread can be closed.
- grenz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Lame. Just like this story. Yeah I get it you don't like slashdot. Great enjoy yourself just don't act like this is news.
- tafkase7en, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I hate when people like you say that, think of something interesting to say...if not, don't post at all. "slow news day?" "slow news day" BLAH BLAH you annoy me.
- BloodJunkie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Did you just climb out of a tree? Better products != better sales. If they did then we'd all be watching The Matrix on Betamax and playing Halo on our Dreamcasts. Quality products don't sell themselves in the world of capitalism or any other world. Just ask the Nomad.
slashdot had that review nailed on the head. - gronne, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I agreed with Slashdot then and I still agree with that statement now.
- boelder, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1slow news day, eh?
