- kristenmunson, on 07/23/2008, -1/+15Love satellite radio so this is very cool.
- FairNUnBalanced, on 08/02/2008, -0/+0I've been doing this on my Windows phone for years.
- iamandyb, on 07/23/2008, -1/+21pandora and last.fm are nice... but this would be incredible
- vexadril, on 07/24/2008, -1/+9I never even heard of Pandora until I got my iPhone, now I can't turn it off. I listen to it in the car through my phone and I hooked a mac mini up to my hdtv so I can listen to it in the house. I've bought like $20 worth of songs because of it, and I'm a life-long confirmed pirate. It's just so damn easy and I love practically every song it chooses for me. Pandora is easily the best free app the app store has to offer. And the fact that each song it plays also displays the album artwork practically makes the iPod function of the phone obsolete.

- jjgames, on 07/23/2008, -1/+11A very good idea for Sirius and XM.
- prodigy311, on 07/24/2008, -1/+3While it may not be on the iPhone yet, there is a nice apple desktop application that works uch better then the web player. http://digg.com/apple/StarPlayr_Mac_desktop_applic ...
- MaverickC17, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2This App is available for First Generation Jailbroken iPhones.
- Blizaine, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2and if you are a vista user, here is a nice XM sidebar gadget.

- reddikilowatt, on 07/24/2008, -3/+5XM recently changed their online service player to flash based (was Windows Media prior). Works great with my N800 and Ubuntu now.
Now if I could get it working on my N95... it should, but for some reason the server doesn't recognize the S60 flash player.- KaivenTor, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1@reddkilowatt: XM is still streaming online in a WMA format as far as I can see. Though it seems that the Linux community has created codecs to get it working on various distros. Do you have a link to a potential Flash version? Or perhaps an MP3 capable stream? I'd be very happy to find one if it exists.
- reddikilowatt, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1http://xmro.xmradio.com/xstream/login_servlet.jsp Works with Firefox in Ubuntu and Maemo Diablo. I just assumed it was Flash, since the controls closely resemble the standard flash audio interface. If it is WMA, I'm impressed that the maemo is that far along.
- xero9, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Yes do share this Flash based service you're talking about.. I know the menu and all that is Flash, but like Kaiven said, it's still a WMA stream. Been like that for I'm going to say at LEAST 2 years.
Still not very Mac/Firefox 3 friendly

- PhilThePhenom, on 07/24/2008, -3/+8Decision made! I'm getting the damn phone! No more waiting for Android.
- vexadril, on 07/24/2008, -1/+3Wise decision. I have a hard time believing with the amazing head start Apple has that Android is going to be able to catch up. By the time you can actually buy a phone with the first version of Android on it, Steve will be showing off iPhone 3.0. And that's assuming the Android release date doesn't slip, which of course it will.

- rationalbeats, on 07/24/2008, -9/+6But you still need a subscription with them.
So add another 150$ a year in subscription service.- joshhan, on 07/24/2008, -1/+5Are you serious? Did you expect someone to crack satellite radio for you? WTF?
- xero9, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Do you complain about having to pay for insurance and gas when you buy a car too?
- crash331, on 07/24/2008, -3/+7I think the bigger news is that the XM and Sirius merger got approved today.
- rationalbeats, on 07/24/2008, -3/+1No it didn't.
Jeez, get with the program man.- crash331, on 07/24/2008, -0/+6You get with the program.

- Elranzer, on 07/24/2008, -2/+2Just what the world needs... another monopoly.
- crash331, on 07/24/2008, -1/+3Yeah, because you are forced to buy satellite radio and there are no alternatives like terrestial radio, iPods, gameboys, DSs, PSPs, books, etc.
Get a clue retard.

- spikes, on 07/24/2008, -3/+5Apple needs to piss off and allow background applications that serve as audio players. Maybe allow background apps period. No reason whatsoever that I should have to interrupt my radio session if I want to check my mail or texts.
- vexadril, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3Agreed. Internet radio apps should be allowed to run in the background.
- BloodWenis, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1Google Talk via the web doesn't work in the background either.

- vexadril, on 07/24/2008, -8/+3Right after I got my iPhone 3G I downloaded the $5 "Tuner" internet radio application from the app store. It gives you access to hundreds of thousands of internet radio stations for free, hooks right into my car stereo, and thanks to 3G, it works everywhere. So why would I want to pay a monthly subscription to XM or Sirius for like 100 stations when I can get 100,000 for free? No, I don't give a ***** about Howard Stern.
Magic 8 ball says "outlook not so good" for satellite radio.- greggerm, on 07/24/2008, -1/+3I could care less about Stern too. (XM subby here) There's more to satellite radio than that ass.
The satellite radio application is tailored more to the people who *already have* satellite radio, not the folks who don't. We're already paying our $120-$134/year for a subscription to use the service in our homes, cars, and on those silly little portables, and we'd LOVE to be able to use the service on as many devices as we can, including an iPhone.
And as an aside... AT&T's 3G (and even EDGE service) is nowhere near close to being "everywhere".
- greggerm, on 07/24/2008, -1/+3I could care less about Stern too. (XM subby here) There's more to satellite radio than that ass.
- doctordbx, on 07/24/2008, -5/+1Digg = iPhone forum
- vexadril, on 07/24/2008, -0/+4You should get one and see what all the fuss is about.
- doctordbx, on 07/24/2008, -3/+0Yes let's discuss... on Digg... the iPhone forum.
- vexadril, on 07/24/2008, -0/+4You should get one and see what all the fuss is about.
- LittleBilly, on 07/24/2008, -1/+0Now thats a true expression of Freedom of Speech.
- gllopc, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5I had this app on my jailbroken 1.1.4 first gen iPhone; it works great. It even worked over EDGE, so I imagine it can only be a more capable connection over 3G.
I'm hoping it does come to the app store. I'd definitely pay $10 for it. - kenvsryu, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Been on Installer for a while now.
- ibeetle, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3I used to have a portable satellite radio. Still have factory installed satellite in the car. However, I quickly discovered the portable one was crap. Loose the signal just walking under a tree. Loose the signal walking between two buildings.
Now that I have a iPhone I have Tuner, AOL Radio, Pandora, Last.fm apps. Tuner cost a little money, but the rest were free and there is no monthly fee.
So, what is that, with these 4 apps? 500, maybe even 600 internet radio station?
In the basment of Macy's I get a Wi-Fi signal and can pick up my favorite internet radio stations. Try that with a satalite radio.
500 channels for free -vs- 150 channels for a monthly fee. It is going to be real hard for satellite radio to compete.
Satellite radio could double their subscribers if they would do two things. Build a universal radio that would pick up both companies offerings. You know like AM and FM radio. Second, stop charging a subscription for each radio. Does cable charge a complete subscription for each box one has. Box in the living room, box in the bedroom, one price, not two. Netflix does not charge extra to allow streaming to the new Roku box do they? No.
XM charges for one radio $12.00 and for each radio after they charge $9.00. Why? I understand their maybe fees for account management, but $9.00? Make it $2.00 and they would see radio sales triple and subscribers double.- diggopolous, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1"Build a universal radio that would pick up both companies offerings"
I'm sure you know that XM and Sirus are merging right?
"Does cable charge a complete subscription for each box one has.."
Yes, as a matter of fact they do charge extra if not double for each
box/seperate room
- ibeetle, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1Cable charges a box rental fee. Not a full service charge. If your level of subscription is 50 dollars you pay that and a per box rental charge. If you have 3 boxes you do not pay 50 dollars per box.
- Elranzer, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1Tuner spammers make Baby Jesus cry.
- diggopolous, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1"Build a universal radio that would pick up both companies offerings"
- ShoesChrist, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2That would rock. I love listening to O&A and Ron & Fez at work, but I'm not always able to tune in. This would definitely help me catch up on what I miss.
- maussimo010, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Ron Bennington. Fez Marie Watley. Ron & Fez. Noon to Three.
- BloodWenis, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Awesome! I've got Sirius built into the car and love Howard. I really only listen to the other stations when my wife is in the car and even she is warming to him. All the other stations are fine and all, but between Howard and my iphone for podcasts/music I don't use them a lot. I don't even turn on FM/AM anymore. Siriius on my iphone would enable a lot more work listening through the headset!
- hom3land, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Is this the same App I have on my moto q9c to stream my sirius over the phone, minus the touch screen?
- Gizmort, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Stern + iPhone App = Heaven!
- SpoonDigg, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Yes now i can finally listen to Covino & Rich and the Stretch show on my friggin phone.. YES. FTW
- Devihed, on 07/24/2008, -0/+0Yes O&A on the iphone

- trouble916, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Who is the women in the pic? She's uuuuugly.
Been listening to uXM on my jailbroken 1.x iphone. It works. Not terribly stable... but an excellent indicator of what the technology can do. I noticed that XM is charging extra for their streaming on other AT&T. I wonder if they will come out with a legitimate iPhone SDK version and then put pressure for free software (subscription still required) versions to be removed. - mulls, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Oh kwan tanzin wan.
