- jgtg32a, on 10/12/2007, -2/+30No you can't that would destroy the aesthetic appeal YOU MUST STAND
- bdeisgn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21Or, you know, just pull a chair up to the desk, since there's obviously space for it.
- BloodJunkie, on 10/12/2007, -9/+26I must concede: that setup is making me touch myself a little bit.
- WRoach, on 10/12/2007, -5/+20Ballmer's secret place u mean...
- danimal84, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14its cool and all but its just a desk, the only thing mac about it is the mac sitting on it
- Superkid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9just another rich bastard...not me...I'm broke as hell...gonna stick with the PC on the wooden stool
- affanjam, on 10/12/2007, -14/+23Macs are sexy.
- retral, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11^ plus that one links to a blog.
- Dradis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8You can afford a real WOODEN stool? You rich bastard.
- pilot3033, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8You type it down....becasue that's what computers can do....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7They need those setups at the Apple Stores.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Pilot3033: "Contact book can be replaced by the address book on your mac (or Outlook on your PC)"
Obviously you've never used Outlook. - Rice, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Dude totally needs a chair...
- corsairstw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Love the wall mount.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I'm a real proponent for clutter
I have lots of things on my desk because I like to have them to hand, that includes files, notes, a phone, a drink, my contact book, a TV remote, an ashtray, some cigarettes, something to nibble on... I think you get the point
Sure, it looks smart, but if he uses it like that for actually working with it must be fairly impractical. He doesn't even have a chair in there
Agree with the comments about it not being terribly 'mac' either, you could make it look exactly the same with a PC tower hiding in the cabinet - Clbck, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9This title is better :-/
- ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I MIGHT not eat at that desk...
- pilot3033, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9I dissagree. The desk is clear obviously to make the shot look better. Macs don't look as sexy surrounded by the crap people keep on their desks. Evern more, I don't get WHY you keep all that crap? Contact book can be replaced by the address book on your mac (or Outlook on your PC), TV remote you can keep in a drawer (or by the TV...you should be working :P) Ash try and cigs don't take up too much space, neither does foodstuff, and in theory the computer you're using should replace all the papers and junk.
I realise in practicality, paper will still exisits, but keeping it all over your desk won't help. Neat piles are the way to go ^_^. Besids, with that amount of desk space, I doubt it's a problem.
-M - catullus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8uh and the mac wireless keyboard and mouse, and the mac cinema 30"?
- patrickweber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Link? I'd like to see these 'WAY better mac setups'
- phlll, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5"Sexy Mac"... submitted by "LonelyCanuck".
I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere. - N3wtR0ckn13, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7a ferrari is sexy too but you can't drive it everyday.
- lonelycanuck, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6im a fat chick.
No body loves me. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I'm a journalist, my contact book is like my soul, it goes where I go
Out of all the journalists I know and have ever met I could probably name you only one or two who use a digital form contact book
Anyway, back to the point, I just think these kind of 'look at my desk!' setup shots are unrealistic, like showhomes - Dradis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm not big on the red either. If you're going for the clean, clinical look, this setup definitely succeeds. I'm more into the organic look.. you know, piles of discarded junk, empty coffee cups, a banana peel slowly composting on my desk.. ;)
- lucask, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6not too sexy imo
overrated. - davdav, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yes
- trod13, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Thats really sexy. You know what we need? A sexy party! WOOT!!
- daler, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4double true!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I don't get it.
What's so great about this? - kazem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It's worthy of frontpage because 400+ people dugg it. And you're making it worse by adding to the 60+ comments. It's very stylish, and impressive that someone would construct such a thing. It's a work of art, so naturally it's a question of taste.
- fac3less, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Uh, sure you can.
- Midnightbrewer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I agree, I think it's fake. The incredibly thick block of plastic is too clean, and there are problems with the caustics (absolutely no interaction with the floor.) Also, there is a red light effect under the desk, but no apparent source. Finally, the metal and the edge of the plastic are too clean; no ripples, no scratches from cutting and polishing, nothing.
- baudbwoy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3wow, I had to digg this on principal. I am a hater when it comes to mac because I know they are kick ass on so many levels. I digg because I had to, I am still looking at the pics like the center fold of a playboy, my eyes flow over its every curve like a sports car on a winding German country road. Transfixed am I at the sleek lines, perfect lighting and subtle cues of perfection of form and function. I wonder if I can digg it again...I guess I will just have to wait for the dupe.
- nocircleno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Everyone has their own taste of what looks good.
- wael, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2where are the LCD cables? did he drill holes in the wall to hide them?
- sgtpinky, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Yep, I concur. After looking at the pic my first thought was, "Where do you sit?". I don't go near my computer unless I am going to be on it for at least 2 hours.
- coheedcollapse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wish he'd explain a bit more about the situation. it's ridiculously beautiful and I'd love to show it off in my own house, but does he have to stand to use it? Looks like he'd have to pull up a tall stool to sit down at that setup.
- DaveL22, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3umm so what happens when he needs to scribble a note real fast and his pencil keeps going through all those ridiculous holes
- ToadX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2True. The pictures could be fake. I didn't think of that.
- kazem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That monitor from Apple uses their special cable that combines both the power and video cable into a single cable. DVI is it called? It's a proprietary Apple invention, most likely so that people can easily mount screens as this guy has done.
- kazem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's great because some guy went through the time to make it. It's like those case mods for PCs. but since the Mac already has really cool cases...well, yeah.
- tsupersonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't know, it's not that sexy...
Macs are know for simplicity, their simple white designs. What would've been sexy is a room with a regular old table and the same display, laptop, wireless mouse and keyboard. That's simplicity for you. - mightymouse, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8I had an erection when I saw this.
- il0vemymac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1and i thought my setup was sweet...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nothing to do with being a slob, I just like having more on my desk than a keyboard and a mouse
- Sippi, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6tru-dat!
- orabox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1now your just being a drama Queen, at least I hope you are.
- drewcurtis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2apple users make well-adjusted people laugh.
