I want try this myself and if it works, but I would like know what problems did you see? - Waffles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's a little light on the details and explanations of what everything is and why/what you are doing, but the instructions are all accurate.

- chris242, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A/D + Linux = Nice
- DJDrastic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This looks cool , the only thing bothering me is tha t the last step seems to be mac only . I'll try out a RH based linux distro , that has similiar tabs
- starman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0BNR rules. I met Aaron at WWDC in 2003. Nice guy.
- Motobike_man, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What version of OS X? was a little flaky all the way up to 10.3.9, but 10.4 seems to be better.
Worst problem I have had (in production too by the way) is every once-n-awhile the OS X user will be prompted for a username and password to connect to windows shares.
A simple log-out and log-back-in fixes the problem. - amelton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is JUST what I've been looking for! I can't wait to try it out!
- mlmurray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Talk about timely. Our IT department is converting over to AD this weekend and I had no idea how I was going to be able to connect my (rouge) Linux box to the network. Now, at least, I have a chance...
- JoeTech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0other great resources for entering Macs into AD/Windows environments:

Make yourself a shellscript and you're right as rain. - kaka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0easy-peasy in OSX Tiger (FYI)
- intangible, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This looks like it will do all of the above for you and make it easier to make changes in the future: http://sadms.sf.net
- rancemo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've been testing this with every version since 10.3 came out. It has gotten much better since 10.4.2 and 10.4.3. Here are the basic problems I've seen.
-Long wait (1-2 minutes) after reboot before AD username actually works for login. Most users don't understand this, no matter how many times it is explained.
-Occasionally, the machine will fail to login at all. The only solution I have found is to unbind, wipe all AD related pref files, then rebind to AD.
-When passwords expire, there is no notification. These users get locked out, and will call for help. This gets old real fast when you have 80+ Mac users and 2 supporting I.T. staffers. - Motobike_man, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've done it on OS X and it is very easy.
