- Zorn85, on 07/16/2008, -0/+7So I went and registered an account with them, but it won't let me log in at all. When I go to the control panel, it lets me log into that, and says that "your account *****@mail2web.com is queued for cancellation" , even though I just registered it. Anyone have any idea why it would say that?
- InorganicMatter, on 07/16/2008, -0/+5In their defense, MobileMe is more than simple email. It's also push calendars and contacts for all your computers/devices, as well as a hosted photo gallery and 20GB of online storage.
Is it expensive? Yeah. But it also beats the pants off anything short of setting up your own Exchange server, and is a lot cheaper than licensing Exchange 2007 + Server 2008 x64. - mr100percent, on 07/16/2008, -0/+4You can share calendars on the web with mobileMe. In iCal, go to Publish calendar, and it will give you a URL of the live site as well as feed addresses. Google calendar even can subscribe to them.
- megaton, on 07/16/2008, -0/+3...or may work in IT where email == main form of communication == need to get it ASAP.
Anyone who thinks anyone should wait a couple hours to check their email has a serious problem. - megaton, on 07/16/2008, -2/+5That might make sense if Gmail had push email, but it doesn't, soooo.....
- sniper13, on 07/16/2008, -0/+3I have been a .mac customer for over 2 years now and I was really looking forward to these new features. Unfortunately they just don't work correctly...yet. I'll give Apple a little more time to get this Me stuff worked out because I don't mind paying for a service that ELIMINATES STUPID ADS from the screen. Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft are littered with ads which I'm sick of.
- l800LEMMINGS, on 07/16/2008, -1/+3this is an awesome idea i've been backing this concept since the 2008 keynote all they have to do is perfect it
- earnjam, on 07/15/2008, -0/+2It's really not that bad. I had a similar setup before to get IMAP functionality before Gmail had it.
- yooper1019, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2I wrote up a how-to for syncing Google Calendar and the iPhone's Calendar using a site called nuevasync.com
http://theturdconnection.com/2008/07/14/2-way-sync ...
The host site looks like they will have push gmail soon too. Caution: site is very beta - ssavoy, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2What I don't understand is why the push calendar feature was thrown out for Mac and PC (in MobileMe). Now it's the "sync interval" garbage, just like any other calendar service. ***** Bait and Switch.
- mediaphile, on 07/16/2008, -4/+6If you're using Gmail, IMAP is a better solution for handling the push e-mail, since your actions are synchronized back to the Gmail servers (and, consequently, any client you have configured to use Gmail's IMAP). So with IMAP, marking an e-mail read on my iPod Touch also marks it as read in Mail.app on my notebook. Also, sending mail from mail2web was a lot slower for me than sending mail from Gmail IMAP, and it came from my mail2web address instead of my Gmail address. This is still pretty useful if you want/need push contacts and calendar, I guess.
- l800LEMMINGS, on 07/16/2008, -1/+3yes but how many of us would be happy with the option of just push email... is apple offering free push email...this while not perfect is a big step forward
- m3mn0n, on 07/16/2008, -0/+1As soon as they announced that developers can do push information to devices, I knew MobileMe would be replaced at no cost.
Still though, MobIleMe is more than just push calendar/contacts/email, so I might sign up for it just for the device syncing, Windows support, and online storage space. - inactive, on 07/16/2008, -0/+1You could set it to check every 15 minutes,.
- donsnyc, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1Thank You!
- xenocoder, on 07/16/2008, -0/+1It seems like a good (and free) short term solution for some activities, but there's still no GCal syncing to be found.
- jcwuerfl, on 07/16/2008, -4/+5Moble Me should be free.. Microsoft has Live and Hotmail for windows smartphones even and thats free. So thanks Apple for charging for it. I'll just keep using my imap with google hopeing that google will create there own push email and calendar soon for the iphone
- lukemh, on 07/15/2008, -5/+5yeah, still not a happy alternative... too messy.
- antheo, on 07/16/2008, -1/+1It seems to be a viable option as the ME.com service is not usable, it is really too slow and it has less features than Google Calendar. I can not even share calendars on the web. That's a 2 minutes operation on Google calendar. I am going to cancel my ME account.
- diggfaker, on 01/02/2009, -0/+0hahahahahaha! http://www.prepaid-pakete.org
- ilikechaitea, on 07/16/2008, -2/+1awsome, thats actually really good info....and...I love the busted tee model...seriously
- SmeeegHeeed, on 07/16/2008, -3/+2wow, look. an article about the iPhone!!!
Digg has been severely lacking in iPhone articles the last few weeks...
/sarcasm
buried - neoLeech, on 07/15/2008, -4/+3this wouldn't sync back your email to gmail therefore it fails
If you cant wait a couple hours to check your mail then you may have a serious problem - bobdobolena, on 07/16/2008, -4/+3Push email? Haven't the Canadians been doing that since 1999? My RIM 850 was awesome. It even had user replaceable AA batteries! /sarcasm
- inactive, on 07/16/2008, -2/+1Yeah I'm sure the Apple programmers said the same thing. Good luck at that corporate iPhone support because alot of small businesses use Exchange.
- Fluvant, on 02/27/2009, -8/+3I'd rather fetch and safe battery life.

- spargett, on 07/16/2008, -8/+2Microsoft Exchange? Thanks, but no Thanks.
- inactive, on 07/16/2008, -7/+1Unless your trying to buy concert or sporting event tickets through craigslist, sure it makes sense to want to check your inbox every 30 minutes. Or you can wait 2-3 hours and find out the seller already sold it to someone else (because you didn't respond).
Of course the more serious problem is all the iPhone spam on Digg.
