- Emachine, on 08/26/2008, -5/+37I don't see enough value in the current MacBooks. If I pay $1300+, I don't want to see plastic.
Bring out aluminum MacBooks with LED backlighting and better graphics in September, and I'll wave goodbye to Windows once and for all. - virtualball, on 08/27/2008, -0/+151 cup?

- Renegade.eit, on 08/27/2008, -0/+11I had some excellent eggs two weeks ago, but nobody seems to care.

- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -1/+9It's believed this next MacBook update will see the line get Aluminum enclosures.
http://www.insanely-great.com/news.php?id=9072 - inactive, on 08/27/2008, -4/+10how about something other than the mini or imac in the range of $500. to $700.00 mini tower?
- longofest, on 08/26/2008, -1/+7No. 1 event. If Apple doesn't update everything in that event, they'll do a quieter update via their website later.
- 5hocker, on 08/26/2008, -2/+72 separate events. 1 for iPods, 1 for MacBooks
http://9to5mac.com/september-apple-events - DeFex, on 08/27/2008, -0/+5gps ipod touch would be cool for sure.
- DeFex, on 08/27/2008, -3/+8Coming soon.
Macs that will only run apps approved by apple to keep you "safe"! - Wilddigi, on 08/27/2008, -0/+5return it
- robdazomba, on 08/27/2008, -0/+5LOL! Good one.
- jasmus, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4I didn't think there was ever a macbook pro in plastic, but I can't say I've taken that much notice. Your plastic MacBook Pro with a 20min life must be a pretty rare beast.
- jasmus, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4Mine's not cracked, or dirty. Am I doing something wrong?
- PainToad, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4Umm Apple laptop have standard battery Life, and there is an alert when the batter is running low, "Running on reserve power"
- cadmiumpaint, on 08/27/2008, -2/+6hahaha. you're funny.
btw... they still make the zune? - Ravatar, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4It's good business.
They want to sell out their back stock of macbook pros before announcing a new one (when inevitably sales on them will plummet). - BrettFromTibet, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4I hope they continue the Mac Mini and don't try and make it into a locked-up AppleTV-like device! I want an improved Mini as an media server...
- thatsmyaibo, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4No, it just sounded stupid period.
- Nouman6, on 08/27/2008, -1/+4Do You Even Know Anyone Who Owns a Zune?" - Steve Jobs
...apparently trolls
and he never spoke truer words. - shawnanigans, on 08/27/2008, -1/+4The MacBooks have to be updated by the end of the year at least. I'm pretty sure we were promised a move to make the entire product line more environmentally friendly and the MacBooks are currently made of plastic and have mercury in the screens. Then again I just want an aluminum consumer laptop with an LED screen. The late September date for a MacBook and MacBook Pro update would make sense given Apple Expo is the 17th-20th.
- rockersDC, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3Really hoping to see a new MacBook, but this article was pointless. No news, just trying to get dugg by Apple's dedicated diggers.
Buried. - Nouman6, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3Am I the only one who will wait at least a week before buying? :)
Never a bad idea to wait for the reviews/complaints to come out. - mhockey14221, on 08/27/2008, -1/+4I can't stand how secretive Apple is sometimes, just tell us you're expecting a new MBP in a few weeks so I don't have to lose my mind waiting. I need a new computer ASAP and a new MBP would be delicious.
Well, I guess that's good PR then. - krusader3z, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3Like LED backlighting? Look into Dell's new Studio line of notebooks.
Picked up a 2.4ghz dual core, LED backlit screen, 4gigs ram, 256 video card, with a slot-loading burner, a backlit keyboard, and touch sensitive hotkeys(volume ect)
Complete with Dell's Complete Care for 3 years (I can drop it, spill beer on it, ect and it will be replaced)
All for 1400 bucks.
Extremely pleased with the build quality.
I will never buy a notebook without a backlit keyboard from here on out. By far the most aesthetically pleasing addition to laptops in years. - BossKey, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3What's wrong with your battery? My MacBook Pro gets 3.5 to 4 hours on a charge.
- greatblackowl, on 08/27/2008, -1/+4Well, Thinkpads (the T series, at least), for one, have had magnesium alloy lids for as long as I can remember.
- mrBitch, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3even cooler would be an ipod touch with a camera, microphone, and speaker - in other words : include everything on the iphone, except the phone hardware.
- MattDell, on 08/27/2008, -1/+3It is since it's from a reliable source.
- frascellyboy273, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2hes obviously from trollville...
- matt2m, on 08/27/2008, -2/+4What windows laptop at even $2000 has anything but a plastic exterior i know voodoo has carbon fiber but i think its more than that.
- mrBitch, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2RE: " I will never buy a notebook without a backlit keyboard from here on out. By far the most aesthetically pleasing addition to laptops in years. "
I agree, originally I thought it might just be a bit of a gimmick - but after using it, you really miss backlit keyboards when using work laptops that don't include the feature. - jbess, on 08/27/2008, -4/+6Personally, I like the current plastic casings. It just looks better to me, and I will sorely miss being able to get a white apple notebook when i upgrade.
- Benji521, on 08/27/2008, -1/+3New Cinema Displays, Cheaper iPod Touches, MBP Redesign with Blu Ray + BR Support in 10.5.6, and I'm a happy camper!
- TheBigBad, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2That's what returns are for.
- shadowsurfr1, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2What planet are you living on?

- Elranzer, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2I miss the 12" Powerbook :-(
- mrBitch, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2I care, can you describe why the eggs were so excellent?
- PainToad, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2Or he's a troll
- TheFinaleofSeem, on 08/27/2008, -1/+2No, but as a Mac tech, I've replaced A LOT of Macbook top cases. I think iMac G5 power supplies might, MIGHT be the only thing I've swapped out more.
- web2pointYo, on 09/02/2008, -0/+1It dies while its plugged in? You probably meant when you unplug it. Thats what mine does: 90%, 70%, 22%...black screen. Dont always get the red "low battery" warning.
- Rauby, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1You wish. That will never happen.
- mrBitch, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1How "safe" do you want to be? Current number of malware, spyware, and viruses on OS X : Zero.
- pjr12345, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1Maybe I've got a bad battery, but I have never seen this "running on reserve" indicator. Where would it be located?
Also, I have a MacBook (not Pro), and yes it is plastic.
As to the foolish "troll" comment... Please define what a "troll" is. If you can provide a definition other than "someone who posts a comment I disagree with" I'd like to hear it. - elfprince13, on 08/27/2008, -2/+3everyone who reads the Mac Rumors buyer's guides should know this. its why I've been waiting until AFTER the iPod promotion to by a new MBP.
