Apparently, the blacklist that everyone got so hot and bothered about, is to keep apps out of Core Location, which is Apple's set of APIs that control how applications access the GPS, cell tower, and wi-fi location protocols on the iPhone and Touch. So, in essence, the blacklist is actually protecting iPhone users' privacy. - oliversan, on 08/10/2008, -0/+8Done, just finished as I saw this article, 2.0.1 is supposedly much faster and less laggy. The backup time is a fraction of what it was with 2.0.

Needless to say, I pwned my iPhone (along with my Dad's) for 2.0.1, working smoothly. If you do it correctly, you shouldn't have any problems, just follow the procedure, and don't use any PwnageTool except that on the Dev Team Blog (don't get any .zip files, get .tbz only).

If you're on an official iPhone contract, make sure you don't check the activation options when creating the custom firmware (you may need to use Expert Mode to change activation settings, I didn't use Simple Mode). Let iTunes activate the phone after restoring with your custom firmware & everything should be fine.

But I'm not sure it will also reinstall the Cydia applications and the preferences for your apps, even if you have left iTunes to make its looooong backups.
