Preorder Tubular (Fomerly InnerTube), the Mac app for YouTube
phillryu.com — Tubular, the sleek Mac app for YouTube is a lot closer to release, and is now taking preorders. It was initially named InnerTube, but the developer had to rebrand it when CBS threatened to sue.

- Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11I use PodTube: http://djodjodesign.free.fr/rightEN.html
It's free, and ads the clips you choose directly to iTunes. - koregaonpark, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Yeah, I use PodTube too. A lot of people that don't use/like Safari complain about the fact that PodTube only works with it. I'm really quite happy with PodTube.
On the other hand, Tubular is more of a 'complete' app. You watch, and experience YouTube outside of your browser, in this GUI'fied Mac app. I believe you can even add videos as favourites etc. I think there's a potential fanbase for something like this. Sadly, I'm not one to pay a few hundred rupees (I'm in India) for it. - wastern, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4you do realize that this app is a desktop interface for youtube much like Sherlock's ebay interface. Not just some way to save youtube video that you found via your browser
- SVPirate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Personally all I *need* is something to grab the video. YouTube's web-based browsing and searching is really pretty good, I don't see the point in duplicating functionality, and I sure as hell ain't paying to do it.

- winnopeg, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4Looks like a nice app. :)
- exobyte, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4Except for the following flaw: Google doesn't get ad revenue.
- neiltc13, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17More Phill Ryu promotional junk. Seriously guys, his blog is just a big advert for.. everything.
As for paying for a product before it ships - that's a joke - especially when it undermines a huge website like YouTube who could just cut off this application in an instant. That and the fact that YouTube is a free website and there are plenty of alternative programs out there that allow most of this program's functionality without the price tag.- pyro116, on 10/12/2007, -10/+4This coming from the guy who runs GTAPSP.com? Heh.

- gharding, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23Why the ***** would you preorder an app that you download? Buried.
- Niten, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You know, in case there's a bottleneck somewhere in manufacturing and they can't meet initial demand.
Yeah, I don't get it either.

- NobodyButYou, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Use Democracy Video Player instead...it has a built-in Youtube search and has an awesome GUI.
- spc2226, on 10/23/2007, -7/+13Hahaha... That kid who made it (Steve Streza) is in a my Professional Communications class at RIT. Let me say, I first thought he was a douche bag when he gave his presentation in all black + jeans .. the whole "Steve Jobs" look... Anyways, now it confirms that he is a REAL douche bag.. The article says he is using a G4 iBook but I clearly remember him giving his presentation on a Macbook Pro w/ Remote. Nice try but we arn't going to buy your crappy software.
Also- I just noticed he gave his presentation on tis software.. "Tubular" and his presentation was him reading what was on his website.. Very nice.. Haha- AmazingSyco, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Actually, it was a PowerBook G4 and the spacebar. Hooray for borrowing people's computers.
- EricJD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12What the heck, you have to pay for this?
- burke, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Welcome to the wonderful world of Mac.
- zugu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2That's right, on a Mac, every useless piece of crappy software has a price.
- NerveBand, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8This is a complete waste of time. Move along folks, just move along.
I mean how stupid do you have to be when you can just GO to YouTube.com and just search what you want to see with more information than this app. - digitallysick, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5did someone say pay?? lol !
- halik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That $20 will go straight into their litigation fund... im sure youtube will love the fact that they're circumventing youtube's business model (not to mention bandwidth) to troll cash for your self.

*sarcasm* - actorboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I've already got an app for using YouTube. It's called my web browser.
- poohat1000, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Phil ryu can suck my warrior sized pleasure pole that is known only by the screams of rape and the unmistakable smell of love piss. What an irritating little bandit.
- AmazingSyco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Useless comment, but excellent use of the word "bandit".
- DelMonte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I recommend using the free and open-source Perian plug-in, it enables you to play YouTube's .flv video and many other formats in Quicktime, as well as converting them to other formats.
You do need a way to get the .flv file from inside the YouTube flash player, but several solutions exists. (The easiest free way is looking at the Activity window in Safari and option-clicking the .flv file.)
