- UTPinky, on 10/10/2007, -2/+104In other news... Apple announces iPhone 1.2.1...
- kaytrio, on 10/10/2007, -2/+72The iPhone Dev Team freaking rocks!
- spudnik187, on 10/11/2007, -5/+72Apple secretly loves the free QA / QC testing. The devs are finding all of their mistakes for them.
- signal15, on 10/10/2007, -2/+37This is going to be a losing battle for Apple if they choose to purposely lock people out with every update. It's only going to serve to alienate their technical customer base. And while that particular demographic is minor compared to the rest of their users, it most certainly will have an effect because these are the people that convince friends, family and their employers to buy Apple.
- indiefan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+28the NES gods will be appeased
- wm666, on 10/10/2007, -0/+24Can't wait for the complete phone unlock in iPhone 1.1.1
- digger_twit, on 10/10/2007, -3/+25w00t.
- Disjunto, on 10/10/2007, -1/+22you poke it funny
- JeremyTTU, on 10/10/2007, -1/+22You could make that a $500 paper weight if you go and get your $100 Apple store credit :)
- odiego, on 10/10/2007, -12/+32damnit i kinda like this $600 paper weight!
- boozedrinker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+20It was only a matter of time.
- CheeseburgerBro, on 10/25/2007, -2/+21I hope Apple doesn't turn this into an arms race pissing contest. Because they will lose.
- kaylov, on 10/10/2007, -4/+21Well that did not take too long now did it? Just imagine what this talented and dedicated iPhone Dev Team could do if Apple worked with them and let them develop apps for the iPhone instead of spending their time un-locking what Apple will keep on locking - what a waste of resources and time on both sides. But once again Kudos to the Dev Team.

(via http://iphone.fiveforty.net/wiki/index.php/The_iPh ... - Me1000, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15I wish!
it is more likely to be 1.1.2 though
1.2 will add new features (at least it better) - Terc, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13Then you decided not to roll back to 1.0.2 after updating your hacked iPhone before reading that it wouldn't activate properly if you had unlocked it?
- digginghacker, on 10/10/2007, -5/+16So, how do I jailbreak my iPod touch?
- Terc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11No, it's been weeks since the update came out.
- Me1000, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12I dont accept it!!!
- yeahright, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10just stop talking... please.
- Angostura, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Like hardcoding the list of built-in apps, rather than using a .plist.
- lickmygiggle, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10I like iTouch better than what some retards are calling it. They're calling it the iPoT. Ugh.
- trouble916, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11I think there's definitely some things in there from preliminary examination that look like Apple specifically targeting even 3rd party apps... which they've been trying to claim they weren't.
Not saying they can't or shouldn't... just want a little honesty. - dagamer34, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I'm wondering if the developers are able to find out if Apple did a firmware rewrite (and previous techniques for jailbreaking were broken) or Apple tried to keep us out.
- virtualball, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Not really, the money goes back to Apple in the end.
It's not less money... just less embarrassing.
/me snuggles iPhone, he still loves it despite the 600 price tag... - buzzedlightyear, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8from fstab: /dev/disk0s2 noexec
nicht gut - Terc, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7:hangs head: Sorry, I messed up. I read your user name instead of odiego's.
Sorry about the mix up. - JeremyTTU, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Terc... WTF are you talking about...? My comment had NOTHING to do with myself. It had to do with odiego's price of HIS phone.
Get a freakin' life... - surilamin, on 10/10/2007, -6/+11In other news Apple announces another firmware update to be released next week, that may brick iphones, again.
- syroncoda, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7if only apple weren't all cockassy about the unending desire for iphone owners to have total control over their own devices. i don't give a ***** about apple still thinking they own something when they sell it. not happening. people want them open and changable.
yarr! - SirZRX, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6in another news: Devteam announces 1.2.1 jailbreak.
- meatmcguffin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Yup because physical, local access to a device and remote access to a device via a network are exactly the same.
- Shaahin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Mr. bpapa, you and Steve must learn one thing, give users what they want!
- ivorysky, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4A week and a half is hardly weeks. It came out on 27th September.
- kkiran, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6Well,definitely lot of work to the developers - hope natetrue shares donations amongst the developers and make iPhone the best device so far :)
1.1.1 is so uncool without all the bells and whistles and haa, finally we can put an end to week 38 hunt for 1.0.2 !! Thanks Erica, thanks everyone!! - bobnease, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6My hopes aren't too high yet. I'm still firmware update gun-shy! Until Apple gives the official ok to 3rd Party Apps, who knows what another update might do?
- arjung, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2why would anyone accept that update? especially since there would be no new functionality, and it would ***** up the rehacked phones.
or were you kidding? - badjoke, on 10/25/2007, -1/+3Change your settings to not display apple stories then...
- Daisuke, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2sony didn't want people homebrewing their psps as well, and look where that got that scene - they now have a work around that will work on all firmwares and even the newest hardware revision with relatively little effort.
apple will lose, one way or another. that's what history has shown us up until this point. - dinopio, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2it was alot of work but it was worth it :)
- kaytrio, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Thanks, man
i was looking for a way to give back to the community - UTPinky, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Exactly! They have to add new features to entice people to upgrade
- piznut, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You knew what he was referring to and you just needed to correct someone to elevate yourself intellectually? You must be really fun at parties.
- Phatt138, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1signal - Not to mention that there's not a lot to encourage users to upgrade to the new firmware (thank sweet suffering Jesus for the 'Don't ask me again' checkbox!). Sure, the speakerphone volume could stand a boost, but that's about it. What will happen is that geeks and aficionados will hold off on upgrading until a significant firmware release, at which time the stalwart cracking teams will come back out of the shadows and Phuk the thing again. Then Apple will make another small release that no one will use. Creation and Destruction.
...I remember when Apple used to be on the 'Creation' end of the spectrum... - AceTracer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2They've been trying to jailbreak 1.1.1 since the iPod Touch came out in early September, so it's really been about a month.
- PathDaemon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Note that 1.1.1 has been out for a while now and is nowhere near unlocked-ness. Apple's doing pretty darn well.
- ZPWeeks, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Welcome to my block list.
- wumps, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1That's a great idea and I might just...oh wait, my cell phone is ringing.
- AceTracer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I can, for at least a week anyway. Let me sell the rest of my 1.0.2 stock before we can start unlocking 1.1.1.
- sgoogle, on 10/10/2007, -9/+9iPHone 1.1.1 ≠ iPod Touch
