Possible Pictures of New Macbook Leaked
gizmodo.com — Could these be images of the upcoming MacBook? Possibly, if you believe information leaked from a Taiwanese website. The images are confusing and have a photoshopped feel to them so, as always, take rumors with a grain of salt.

- kr9681, on 08/04/2008, -24/+12i just got my new macbook pro, i really hope they dont come out with a new one anytime soon, i dont like all this rumor talk, but its inevitable.
- tas08, on 08/05/2008, -1/+19Everyone comes out with a new everything sometime soon. That's how modern technology works.
- chaoswings, on 08/05/2008, -3/+3To be honest I'm fine with that part of the equation, a company needs to make money and therefore needs to produce new ideas. But I hate how Apple adds extra steps.
1) come up with a product idea.
2) Leak a rumor about it
3) wait for fanboys to produce horribly obvious fake pics.
4) Delay product release date and add to the hype
5) Release the product and always make sure supply is less then the demand so that it's "sold out" in a matter of days after release.
- Kyrato, on 08/05/2008, -1/+1Yay! Nintendo!

- Renegade.eit, on 08/05/2008, -0/+8according to macrumors, there should be a new macbook and macbook pro released in about a month
- ZombieSociety, on 08/05/2008, -0/+10*Nelson* HA-HA!
- fasda, on 08/05/2008, -2/+1Apple comes out with a new (insert product) every year for small electronics like the Iphone and Ipod and about 3 years or so for computer/operating system to Apple's push to get consumers to replace still working stuff so you don't look around the market too hard at how much more you pay. oh and most of the new additions aren't that large
- diggmaddy, on 08/05/2008, -4/+9You're a selfish dude kr9681! Just because you just bought a piece of tech, you want to pause technological advancement for a while just so that you could feel good about your gadget?
- tas08, on 08/05/2008, -1/+19Everyone comes out with a new everything sometime soon. That's how modern technology works.
- Mike668, on 08/04/2008, -6/+54Just a rumor. Nothing more.

- masterc, on 08/05/2008, -3/+8If you're going to pull an Edgar Allan Poe quote on us, at least quote it right. It's "Quoth the raven, 'Nevermore' ".
- gllopc, on 08/05/2008, -0/+5I thought it was "Quoth the raven, 'Eat my shorts'".
- chmcarro, on 08/05/2008, -0/+5said the raven.

If I had to bet money on it, I'd say it's real. There's been a bunch of leaked images (ie, iPhone 3G) that proved to be real so I don't see why this can't be real either.- joshcxa, on 08/05/2008, -27/+15ZOMG that was photoshop on a PC! Must be fake because I've seen those mac ads and I know you can't be creative on a PC!
- MScrip, on 08/05/2008, -7/+13Don't Digg him down! He's just saying that the Mac vs. PC commercials make it sound like all PCs are good for is Word and Excel.
I make all sorts of creative things on my Windows PC. Photoshop, Premiere, DVD burning... all on a PC. - FoxOrian, on 08/05/2008, -0/+5Photoshopped or not, it doesn't take much imagination to figure out what an aluminum macbook would look like anyway. I'm a fan of apple, [well really, just a fan of computers in general,] but I swear if this hits the top 10 by tomorrow morning....
- r3zonance, on 08/05/2008, -3/+4Well that's nice, lines aside...my eyes tell me that the word MacBook isn't centred.
- lantza, on 08/05/2008, -1/+6What do your eyes tell you about these lines?
http://ccl.northwestern.edu/netlogo/models/models/ ...
You can't always trust your eyes.
- Linkin4, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1Nice lines!
- littlejoe, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1Not only that but the photo from the backside shows the edges to be very thin and beveled. But when you look at it from the screen side the edges are thick and squared.

- rifdawg, on 08/05/2008, -4/+141I honestly can't tell what I'm looking at with this picture
- jorichter, on 08/05/2008, -2/+3I thought that was the point? It could be anything even a "possible" new macbook.
If you squint you can kind of see it. - digitalpencil, on 08/05/2008, -0/+6a schooner?
- emilychap, on 08/05/2008, -1/+1To me, it looks like two distrinct pieces - a "docking station" and a display. Imagine a giant iPhone-like tablet that you can dock into a framework to create a more traditional computing experience.. Maybe have it built up on a small stand like an iMac.. But who knows. It's just a rumor!
- rifdawg, on 08/05/2008, -1/+0You know, thats funny because that was my first thought too, that the display docked there. But I think that would be...um...prohibitively expensive.
- jorichter, on 08/05/2008, -2/+3I thought that was the point? It could be anything even a "possible" new macbook.
- STARTRAK4907, on 08/05/2008, -6/+15it looks like a ***** chopping board!
- digitalpencil, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1do you generally hurl meat cleavers at your laptop?
- Rudigity, on 08/05/2008, -19/+30even if this is true, is this front page material??
- carpespasm, on 08/05/2008, -1/+8I'm with you, it doesn't really show much and given that there has yet to be one of these "leaked" photo sets which is more than ***** and photoshopping I don't even care to see these things unless they're well documented, well photographed, and confirmed to be real.
- mmarff, on 08/05/2008, -0/+9i'm so sick of people taking upon themselves the regulation of what belongs on the front page. if you don't think it belongs here, ignore it and move on. obviously it caught your attention enough to get you here and comment. even more obviously, it's on the front page, so it is indeed front page material. if you don't like how digg works, leave... or make a proper suggestion to the powers that be on how the algorithm should be changed.
- phatphil, on 08/05/2008, -2/+5It's related to Apple...
of course. - skaughtm, on 08/05/2008, -0/+4welcome to digg my unaccustomed friend.
- Kyrato, on 08/05/2008, -2/+3Does this question need to be asked on every post??
- tas08, on 08/05/2008, -2/+14Taking a rumor that is overwhelmingly likely to be false 'with a grain of salt' to me, means not digging it so it doesn't go to front page.

- drfluffer, on 08/05/2008, -7/+1Amazing!
- supersteve, on 08/05/2008, -10/+4more the iFakeBook.
come on guys you can do better then this. Apple would not make something this ugly and if they do God help us all.
FAKE NO DIGG!!- RedForLife, on 08/05/2008, -6/+1well they did make macbook air, that is ugly enough.
- senatorpjt, on 08/05/2008, -4/+42It looks too fake to be fake!
- seantubridy, on 08/05/2008, -8/+3Some people have way too much time on their hands and do really stupid stuff with that time. This includes faking Mac photos, writing articles about them, posting them to digg, looking at the images and commenting on them.
I have too much time on my hands. - ptFoe, on 08/05/2008, -10/+1You are not your macbook.
- digitalpencil, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1i am damnit! i'm clad in black plastic and have a light up apple stuck to my forehead!
- braxwood11, on 08/05/2008, -6/+3This story is slightly less compelling than "Possible Pictures of Brett Favre at Packers Mini-Camp Leaked"
- samscomputer2, on 08/05/2008, -7/+2pictures are so close it looks like any other MacBook
- ErickStevenson, on 08/05/2008, -7/+2That design looks like a Tray you put your bfast in bed... good thing its just a rumor.
- ditfart7, on 08/05/2008, -6/+1This isn't the new mac book... if you take a look at the large size photo it looks exactly like the top half of a normal macbook. It's just the case which contains the screen. There's even slots for the camera, hinges, and the other images are the cover just flipped over. This shouldn't even be on any site.
- NathanCH, on 08/05/2008, -5/+7It's hard to even tell what that is. =/

- rojano17, on 08/05/2008, -1/+5Where does "with a grain of salt" come from. I know what it means, it's just that i don't get it.
Grammar Nazis I'm counting on you!- Mikey129, on 08/05/2008, -1/+11Google is your friend!
- diggenerate, on 08/05/2008, -0/+9thanks to wikipedia:
(With) a grain of salt is a literal translation of a Latin phrase, (cum) grano salis.
In common parlance, if something is to be taken with a grain of salt, it means that a copious measure of skepticism should be applied regarding a claim; that it should not be blindly accepted and believed without any doubt or reservation. According to the Oxford English Dictionary "to take 'it' with a grain of salt" means "to accept a thing less than fully". It dates this usage back to 1647.
The phrase comes from Pliny the Elder's Naturalis Historia, regarding the discovery of a recipe for an antidote to a poison. In the antidote, one of the ingredients was a grain of salt. Threats involving the poison were thus to be taken "with a grain of salt" and therefore less seriously. An alternative account says that the Roman general believed he could make himself immune to poison by ingesting small amounts of various poisons, and he took this treatment with a grain of salt to help him swallow the poison. In this version, the salt is not the antidote, it was taken merely to assist in swallowing the poison, but later Roman readers found the story (or the effectiveness of the antidote) hard to swallow!
- MidnightRIder77, on 08/05/2008, -3/+10If that's the new MacBook then Apple has lost their touch at designing products.
- LinuxGalore, on 08/05/2008, -6/+1Yep I would say this is kosher, if you look at the thing is screams Steve Jobs wet dream. It would be the peak of style in Steve's warped mind to remove all the keys from a computer and this product pretty much does that (iPhone is a fail it still has 1 button). Don't believe me look at every laptop made by Apple under Steve's stewardship in the last 9 years, notice how each generation has "less keys".
- dacheetah, on 08/05/2008, -1/+3The iPhone has 4 buttons and a switch as well as the touch interface... (Home button, Power Button, Volume up/Down, and silent).
LinuxGalore is fail at counting. - Archer007, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3Obvious troll is obvious.

- chemic34, on 08/05/2008, -3/+1Wow it looks like every other mac laptop! Oh and look the pictures reveal barely any details! FAKE and if they were real what crappy pictures to post up.
- jasmus, on 08/05/2008, -11/+1OMG it's a macbook!
someone care to explain to me how this is different from a regular, available now macbook?- jlmillstein, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1it's aluminum with tapered edges.

- ToiletGhost, on 08/05/2008, -1/+0since when can't you close a laptop?
- ncapone, on 08/05/2008, -2/+2Looks like a tablet to me.
- ToiletGhost, on 08/11/2008, -0/+0Yeah pics are crap. I can see how you'd think that. I thought the two dark grey squares near the name were hinges though. My guess is it is like a moniter that you can swivel 180degrees and still close. Much like the gateway tablet pc.
- ToiletGhost, on 08/05/2008, -1/+0since when can't you close a laptop?
- Palaceguard, on 08/05/2008, -5/+1Wasn't this on like this afternoon?

Down with Apple.- 74YLOR3k, on 08/05/2008, -2/+3I love my iPod and macbook which both get much much more than 2 hours of use out of their batteries.... around 4.5-5 for the notebook and several days of playback for the iPod.

- cufford, on 08/05/2008, -8/+3This is why I never go to Gizmodo anymore (and I didn't follow this link when I saw where it went).
It's wall to wall Apple and Iphones all the time. When are they going to rename the site "Applemodo"? - Urkel, on 08/05/2008, -3/+4Wouldn't making an aluminum Macbook expose what a ripoff the Macbook Air is? I know people like to say you're paying for "thin" but the reality is that the regular Macbook is already pretty thin and much much more powerful. So take away the physical beauty of the Air then almost everyone would be better off with an $1100 Aluminum Macbook + $600 cash. I know thats what I'm going to do.
- NSResponder, on 08/05/2008, -0/+5Try picking up a MacBook Air, and a 13" MacBook. The difference is striking.

yay, lets spend $500-800 more than you really need top on a mac - h4xx3d, on 08/05/2008, -9/+4I hope it's better than the current gen macbook. Mine is the worst computer I have ever owned. I've had everything from the HDD to the screen, to the DVD drive replaced. The "super"-drive died 3 times, the mobo once, the screen cracked during normal usage (after the warranty ran out, so I had to ebay it and replace myself or pay apple 1200 to do it.. yea, 1200 for a 13" lcd....), the case has stress cracks along the edge.. It's depressing really..
I will never buy another Apple computer again.. especially considering I run linux on my macbook anyways...
The one thing that I really like about it is the magnetic lid.. but i'm sure that can be hacked into any laptop with a little ingenuity.- ToiletGhost, on 08/05/2008, -7/+1The magnetic lid is actually a defect from faulty wiring.
- KSUdesigner, on 08/05/2008, -1/+9Exactly how does a screen crack during normal usage? Dropping the thing on the floor does not count as normal usage.
And if you were buying a laptop just to run linux, why the hell would you even consider a Mac?- Davers, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1That's what I was wondering - isn't "normal usage" not touching the screen at all, ever?
- Kyrato, on 08/05/2008, -4/+2linux...? Seriously?
And you wonder why the mobo died? Or why the DVD drive dies? YOU PROBABLY FLASHED ITS FIRMWARE YOU MORON
