- binky79, on 10/30/2008, -2/+107And the world says, "Who cares, i downloaded their entire catalog 2 years ago."
- adt41287, on 10/31/2008, -1/+34i have had The Beatles in my iTunes for years ;)
- Darren07, on 10/30/2008, -4/+32I know a digital distribution outfit that has offered The Beatles for a long, long time.
ThePirateBay. - koolgiy, on 10/30/2008, -0/+23And they're only learning NOW that the 'Metallica Method of Marketing' is a bunch of *****?
- paradigmxx, on 10/31/2008, -0/+18I don't see how this is news worthy.
- Scott2, on 10/30/2008, -1/+17People thought this was a near certainly a couple of years ago only to be proven dead wrong.
- HeavyWave, on 10/31/2008, -2/+17So who are you supporting buying their music NOW? Buy your local band's album instead.
- mmittimm, on 10/31/2008, -1/+14Too late, everyone's already downloaded their entire discography for free.
- Juaquin, on 10/31/2008, -1/+12Is it seriously a big deal? Hooray, might be able to buy overpriced DRM infested music! By now everyone has the Beatles CDs - if not, borrow some from your friends and rip them if you really want them.
- drgmdp, on 10/31/2008, -2/+13oh come on just download them from anywhere else.. it's not like paul and ringo really need the money....
- ZombieSociety, on 10/31/2008, -1/+11Wow. Maybe it'll be bundled with Chinese Democracy and Duke Nukem Forever in a Three-for-One Who-Gives-a-***** sale.
- nurbsenvi, on 10/31/2008, -1/+11They are going to remaster it over and over again until they extract John out of his grave.
- keithburgun, on 10/31/2008, -2/+11Oh, MAN! We all can't WAIT to purchase recordings we already have had for years again in a proprietary DRM format!
- inactive, on 10/31/2008, -0/+9What's the big deal over the Beatles being on iTunes? Seriously, it's not like you can't get them on CD. And the quality is so much better,
- doublefelix, on 10/31/2008, -4/+12For those of you who don't know. Along with Sony, Michael Jackson owns the rights to the Beatles Catalog which includes most of their greatest hits except "Love Me Do," "Please, Please Me," "P.S. I Love You," and "Tell Me Why." (those are early songs I could give a ***** about, also why they're not included in the collection). So, if you're psyched about downloading Beatles iTunes why don't you just contribute directly to the Michael Jackson Pedobear defense fund instead?
- JesseJ, on 10/31/2008, -3/+9What's the big deal? I think most of the Beatles fans have bought their LPs over 10 years ago. Do we really need the Beatles on itunes this bad the progress needs to be reported on digg? Beatles is just a little part of a back catalog...
- Frozo, on 10/31/2008, -1/+7That is one of the most ignorant statements Ive seen on Digg recently. I can only assume you just posted nonsense just to be a dick.
- se0siris, on 10/31/2008, -1/+7Both of them?
- Jacare, on 10/31/2008, -1/+6kinda of unfortunate that so few people realize that almost the entire Beatles catalog is owned by Michael Jackson...McCartney and Ringo have to pay if they perform any of their old songs...tis sad
- PintOfGuinness, on 10/31/2008, -1/+6Just go out and buy the CD's you idiots. Waiting for itunes ha ha durrrrr?
- Airspeeder, on 10/31/2008, -0/+5Realistically, who here is actually wanting to download a Beatles song but is waiting for iTunes to catalog it?
Unless iTunes has some unreleased tracks I fail to see what so exciting about waiting and waiting to pay for a song you can get in 5 seconds now for free. Not trying to criticize or act like another PirateBay whore, just curious really... - sandman979, on 10/31/2008, -1/+6I love the Beatles, but seriously wtf? Is that really a huge thing? I can't believe people are still buying locked crap with low bit rate from iTunes, *****... stupid people.
- wpc33, on 10/31/2008, -0/+4They are overrated, but they were incredible, and they influenced every single band you like. Don't be a reactionary tart.
- LordPhantom, on 10/31/2008, -2/+5Who Cares?
- chickengearge, on 10/31/2008, -0/+3Wow! remastered to 128kbps AAC.
I can't ***** wait - insanebrain, on 10/31/2008, -2/+5Who cares .. they have made a P2P deal many years ago.
- smokeymcdank, on 10/31/2008, -0/+3Agreed. If you don't own Beatles albums by now, something is wrong.
- Slade605, on 10/31/2008, -0/+3But, what if they suck?
- ADVIZR, on 10/31/2008, -2/+5BFD
DRM. - WiretapStudios, on 10/31/2008, -0/+3whut
- Optiks, on 10/31/2008, -0/+3What, do you walk around with their entire vinyl collection in a suitcase, or something?
- inactive, on 10/31/2008, -1/+3Actually, I downloaded the catalog from a private umm...well anyway, it doesn't exist anymore, but at least 80% of what was there had been ripped from vinyl by the individual who supplied access to it, with incredibly good equipment--not the sort of thing a DJ would have, but the sort of thing a retired sound engineer would have. For my ear (and I'm a big, big fan) a vinyl rip directly to FLAC is as gold as gold gets. The George Martin re-masters do have something going for them, but it is rather sad that neither Apple nor anyone else would ever distribute the lossless vinyl transfers, simply because they've seen illegal (very limited, but illegal) distribution.
Feh. - siliconpark, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2Screw iTunes.
http://www.mininova.org/tor/1959875 - IAmTheGuy, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2It sure would have been hard to download their discography without the interwebs.
- cyssero, on 04/18/2009, -0/+2Last I heard, he was acquitted on all charges. Is he weird, sure. Really weird, sure. It doesn't matter if he's black or white? Uh, sure. Excellent performer and pop icon? Definitely.
- skellener, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2Exactly. If they are Beatles fans they own them on CD already in much higher quality than any download will be. Don't give me that remaster thing either. Who wants a remastered MP3? If it's that big a deal for remastering, they'll want CDs anyway - again for the quality and no DRM.
- MacParrot, on 10/31/2008, -1/+3My 14 year old son discovered my old Beatles CDs and albums about 2 years ago. As soon as he got his first iPod, he started ripping them into iTunes. You may not like them, but good music is good music
- greatgatsbyII, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2--------------------->
- Shadow503, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2Why bother waiting? They're already on Limewire. . .
- bjornski, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2I'd been joking with friends on whether this would happen first or the release of Duke Nuke-Em Forever.
- apophenic, on 10/31/2008, -3/+5Whoo, I can't wait to pay a dollar for a single crappy, DRM-ridden mp3, complete with a godawful compressed "remaster."
At least it'll sound really LOUD in mai iBudz. - thephosphorbox, on 10/31/2008, -0/+1Ummm how many people out there WANT to own the Beatles music and DON'T already have it? And if you've seriously been holding off on buying it until it becomes available on iTunes, you need to have your head examined. The entire catalog was remastered by Sir George Martin himself not long after the first CD players hit the market, so the sound quality on iTunes will not be any better than the CDs (it'll be worse, actually).
Go buy the CDs and be done with it. - njhardc0re, on 10/31/2008, -0/+1Who cares!!! If you want a stupid beatles album in mp3 format that bad just download it elsewhere... TORRENTS!?!?
- chibichibie, on 11/05/2008, -0/+1Oh, that would be a happy day, for me and my parents!!!
- BaudiIROCZ, on 10/31/2008, -1/+2Paul and Ringo have the right to be divas. Look how much wonderful music they've given the world. Compare that to say Britney Spears.
If Ringo doesn't want to sign anymore autographs, good for him. He's been doing it for 45 years. - BLACKEAGLE, on 11/02/2008, -0/+1who really cares if this ancient ass group goes on itunes
- angrykeyboarder, on 10/31/2008, -0/+1Bravo.
- esquire360, on 11/01/2008, -0/+1it is so foolish for them to wait... just so stupid....
- lochness, on 10/31/2008, -0/+1Anyone who buys these albums when they finally do get onto iTunes deserves to have a heated pointer slowly slid thru the eye of thier penis hole... You've been warned...
- cactus476, on 10/31/2008, -1/+2Michael Jackson....
He owns the publishing rights. -
