- flag564, on 10/12/2007, -4/+68This better not be it, because it looks horrid.
Black & White LCD screen? Welcome to 1992 - shooby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+42This just looks like an ad for this thing called VEXO. Buried for inaccuracy.
- Powerdrift, on 10/12/2007, -3/+36No.
- fr3nch13, on 10/12/2007, -1/+34I agree, no way Apple would let this monstrosity onto the market.
- WiseWeasel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+30I think this remote kinda sucks. I like to be able to hit buttons on the remote without having to look at the actual remote. It's best if the most common functions I want are actual buttons on the remote, so I can just access them immediately from muscle memory. Having to navigate menus for the most common functions is a pain in my ass. Boo for "simplified" remotes... they're not simpler at all!
- drivenfaroff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27You can see him say it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTbdI2JYDEo
- fofusion, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30I cant decide whether its iFake or iLame.
Dammn ugly.... - hackmiester, on 10/12/2007, -4/+29good thing that link works, and all.
- Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -4/+28Who designed that thing Dell? Give me a break!
- betterth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16This is a third party remote. Nothing to do with apple. The design "echos" apples, but it's ***** *****. A ***** little display like I have on my alarm clock?
I'd rather use the Logitech Harmony, if I'm including a screen with my remote.
There's no way Apple would ever design something this *****. - windowsrookie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Lame, they will use the same remote that all the Intel Macs use now. Plus that black pile doesn't match the white iTV, and it's freaking ugly.
- devo6273, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11The screen just isn't aesthetically pleasing either. If apple really was going to do something like this, I'd expect them to make it with a color screen and sell it separately or something.
I don't think apple needs to start competing with logitech harmony remotes. - Chittagong, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Topic says "Pics of Apple iTV remote" and all I see is pics of something done by a complany called Ruwido.
- danny25, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Agreed. It's the same problem BMW had with the iDrive. To many simple buttons replaced by one giant complicated button.
- phisquare, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11digg is exactly like the National Enquirer for tech news these days. It's almost completely worthless....
- redstarlanding, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10the Steve: "iTV is controlled with our very simple remote. Easy to use."
*graphic of what looks like the front row remote on screen*
Yeah, it seems as if it will be the same remote, though to be completely fair, he never explicitly states that it's the front row remote, only that it's "ours". I'm still holding out hope that they'll surprise us with a cool remote like the one in the pic - Namco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9With the look of buttons on the glass, they barely missed minimalistic and instead hit cheap-looking. Looks like a pain to use, expecially in low light in the living room.
- Easty, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11I'm gonna call fake on this one.
- Yashar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Ah beat me to the same youtube link. Atleast that stupid idiot will shutup.
- teunit48, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8fake, fake, fake, fake, fake
- kanecorp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Fake - not only did Jobs tell us what the remote would be, there is hardly anything Apple about that remote.
- Microdot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8when did digg turn into a advertising / spam house?
bury this *****. - frostw, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8iSore?
- totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7uh..No.
- axisds, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10you cant link to the apple store. the link dies after a certain amount of time.
- hotdamn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Who the hell dugg this?
- mateo60, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6No way. That remote looks like crap. Marking as inaccurate.
- larathydo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5This has got to be one of the ugliest "remotes" I have ever seen. I would be quite surprised if Apple shipped a remote that looks like that with the iTV.
- Linh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5that interface looks uninviting. the remote itself does look sleek, but it doesn't have an apple feel to it.
- noamsml, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Not only is this inaccurate, the product sucks too.
- jgreene777, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5that looks like crap. no way is apple gonna use an old lcd display like that. it looks like one of those old calculator watches.
- necrisque, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Buried, inaccurate, etc.
- DucksofAnaheim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Why are idiots allowed to post such crap. It doesn`t say anything about being an Apple remote at all.
- Dewars, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Thats not it!
- joshuacw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Not even close.
- daldredge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3FAN BOY MODE = ON!
I am so glad that Apple invented this - It has been a major pain having to get up and change the channel on my TV. Why didn't someone think of this sooner?
Another great apple innovation! - Seidoger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If Apple would release such a thing, they would have A LOT of explaining to do to the world.
- MacPrince, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Jobs said when he pre-announced the iTV that it was only a temporary name until they found something better.
And by the way--Apple's offering is going to be a product, not a service. - alephsmith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Someone call me when I can use my touchscreen iPod as an all purpose Bluetooth remote.
This thing is lame. - culbeda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"I think this remote kinda sucks..."
Remove "I think" and "kinda" and you've captured my sentiments exactly. - wastern, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3No way Apple made that or Jobs signed of on it. buried and inaccurate/lame/etc
- pabloD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't really see the need for something much more complicated than the current Apple remote. Once your UI's on the screen, there's no need for lots of buttons on the remote itself, with the possible exception of a number pad. I could see Apple integrating a touchscreen numpad into a remote of the Vexo's size, but definitely not with that craptacular-looking screen. They'd probably go with something much more iPod like. Even so, if all you need is a numpad, they could go with some solid state, backlit buttons like the four button iPod had.
Having said that, I do dig the larger, elongated form factor. As an Apple remote user in a living room environment, I wouldn't mind the remote being a little bit more substantial in size. It's kind of a pain when the Apple remote gets lost in between cushions. - Aliarse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Did you try clicking the "Who Dugg or Blogged This?" tab up at the top before asking your question?
- lennon2600, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I also call *****. That remote is ugly. Apple wouldn't do that kind of ugly. At least I hope they wouldn't. Plus the flimsy stand? Come on. Try a little harder in faking the whole thing.
- idean360, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2FAKE/Not Apple's. Jobs said it would look almost the same as the current Apple remotes.
- Durvivor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Remotes without physical buttons you can feel in the darkness are not enjoyable over the long term.
- mojo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That screen looks like *****. *****.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3*****. Marked as inaccurate. Even if this person did believe it, they have no valid reason to do so.
- doon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Lame, BS, no digg and buried
- vhold, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'll never buy a remote that doesn't have raised distinct buttons so that you can feel with your finger where you are at. The Tivo remote, to me, is the best remote ever made because almost every aspect of the major controls is distinctly shaped and logically bi-symmetrical.
