- mentor972, on 07/15/2008, -3/+181I emailed Pandora to give them my support. Within an hour they emailed me back and hinted to their plans for the app...

This company is going places. - russellapoole, on 07/15/2008, -9/+124So far, this is one of the only apps that has even been worth downloading - and it's free
- mizike, on 07/16/2008, -15/+83Something available only in the U.S. will never be the iPhone's "killer app".....just sayin....
- GothAlice, on 07/16/2008, -4/+57I dug you, sir, for the lack of a rick-roll. *applause*
- farfromsubtl, on 07/16/2008, -14/+63US Only. :(
I hope that last.fm makes a Pandora killer. - ohnoerino, on 07/15/2008, -4/+42This sounds great, even though I don't have an iPhone.
- solesoul, on 07/16/2008, -4/+41OK, I didnt know the iPhone had this. I'm a huge iPhone critic, but there is no arguing that getting Pandora was really smart. I know other smartphones can use Pandora, but its nowhere near as streamlined or easy. I've done way more than my share of iPhone bashing, but if they do things like this, and get some better plans, I might actually consider getting one.
- inactive, on 07/16/2008, -1/+32The last.fm app is also free in the App Store. I use it and believe it to be better than Pandora. Not that I dislike Pandora, I just like last.fm better.
- StealthMonkey, on 07/16/2008, -0/+24To actually answer your question...
There are three things: voice calls, text messages, and data.
Everything that isn't a voice call or a text message is data. That includes: web browsing, Pandora listening, email and attachment viewing, etc.
The data plan offered by AT&T is $30. That goes on top of any voice and text plans. It contains UNLIMITED data.
So yes, you could get an iPhone, and stream Pandora 24/7/365 and it wouldn't cost any more than if you never listed to it. - nbcaffeine, on 07/16/2008, -1/+24That is a question only you can answer.
- inactive, on 07/15/2008, -4/+22Will def check this one out, I love Pandora. Thanks to them I rekindled my love for Running Wild
- xiphy, on 07/16/2008, -11/+29This is a big boooooooooooooooooooooo for Canadians :(
- Firehed, on 07/16/2008, -4/+21There are ads in the stream? I was listening all morning from my iPhone while banging out a report and I didn't hear a single one.
- ngmcs8203, on 07/16/2008, -3/+19You don't need an iPhone to use Pandora.
- tiuk, on 07/16/2008, -1/+17Why are people digging you down? I loved Pandora and it sucks that they don't serve Canada anymore.
- LordRedSnake, on 07/16/2008, -5/+19The last.fm app is also definitely worth a look. I prefer it because as I have all of my normal music listening on my computer, ipod, and iphone scrobbled and it gets a much better sense of my taste than is possible with pandora, not to mention the concert recommendations and all of the social networking element.
- nicc, on 07/16/2008, -2/+15till your battery dies...
- picciano, on 07/16/2008, -0/+13So THAT'S how to get out of that two-year contract!!! Thanks!
- mentor972, on 07/15/2008, -4/+15The internet plan is $30. Flat Rate. Plus whatever phone plan you select. Plus whatever Text plan you select. I recommend the $30 unlimited family text package if you have more than one phone. Saves money. I pay $100 for extended minutes (business phone) $10 for an extra iPhone line, $30 for net on both phones combined, and $30 for unlimited text on both lines. So $170 for 2 iPhones with unlimited everything... (Average $85 per phone.) but it is possible to scale it back and pay less.
- superkendall, on 07/16/2008, -3/+14It's pretty funny that people ever complained about the iPhone not having an FM tuner, when you can get a billion radio stations for free now...
- gaijintendo, on 07/16/2008, -4/+14Please bring back Pandora in the UK! I love Pandora, it just worked so well.... last.fm is soulless comparatively.
- beggersfunk, on 07/16/2008, -0/+10We can't get Pandora and AOL radio in App Store Japan and it suck so bad , one app that i want it so badly.
- spellbunny, on 07/16/2008, -0/+10Pandora come back to Canada!! :(
:( :( - Taiyoryu, on 07/16/2008, -1/+11If you read the website, ads are coming. There's an annual subscription to have an ad-free service.
- Enron, on 07/16/2008, -0/+10Assuming you actually leave the house, sometimes it makes sense to spend that $30 for internet on the phone.
- thatsmyaibo, on 07/16/2008, -5/+13Last.fm is my favorite so far.
- MicahT0078, on 07/16/2008, -0/+7Have you seen the remote app??? I work in the custom home market and charge home owners $2000 for something like that. And apple is giving it away as an app.
- BlackestNight, on 07/16/2008, -1/+8And here I thought it was a nefarious master plan by you and GothAlice, yet no 'Roll. Thank you.
- Soulbow2, on 07/16/2008, -3/+10Pandora doesn't work very well for me. I seem to be the only one with this problem.
- tailfly, on 07/16/2008, -0/+7I agree, when you have built up a profile with last.fm you get really great recommendations.
- AdamFromMyspace, on 07/16/2008, -1/+8It's not the same. You pay for the service and it's really, really low bitrate.
- Smuikas, on 07/16/2008, -0/+7I've sent a few suggestions for local bands (which aren't TOO local - they're on amazon after all), and notified them when one band (Tarantula AD) changed names (to Priestbird). They've been really awesome.
Pandora is even better now that they have classical music (they didn't for quite a while). - th3heretic, on 07/16/2008, -1/+8Having delt with ATT, if you use too much of their "unlimited service", you will receive a warning or two. Then they will cancel your plan.
- koanage, on 07/16/2008, -0/+6I had a similar experience after attending one of their meet and greets events with the founder in Palo Alto. I emailed him shortly after and by the next morning I had gotten a reply. Pretty cool.
- cslawren, on 07/16/2008, -4/+10it's not a matter of "yet", when you try to use pandora outside the US, the web page pops back with a notice saying sorry but we cant stream music to you due to copyright, or something along those lines. And sure it can be popular and it is, but only in the US, and by being a US only service, thousands of users outside of our little country are being neglected.
- crowbar77, on 07/16/2008, -3/+9Yeah, hopefully back to Canada.
- tnoy, on 07/16/2008, -0/+6"Popular, well-created app" and "killer-app" are two ENTIRELY different things.
- gandhii, on 07/16/2008, -2/+7@kennmac: I didn't read one criticism of the iphone in his post.. you need to chill.
- BigW, on 07/16/2008, -2/+7Pandora is by far the most polished best working free app in the app store. They did a fantastic development job.
Now I'm hoping that Finetune will step up to the challenge and create an iphone app. Their Wii interface for their service is amazing. - super_spyder, on 07/16/2008, -2/+7This is the only app that makes me want to lose all my jailbreaks and upgrade
- pahool, on 07/16/2008, -0/+5Last.fm is absolutely better than Pandora once you have scrobbled enough tunes. I really prefer the notion of a recommendation engine driven bottom-up from user's with similar tastes, rather than top-down based on a select few people's classifications of music "genomes." Not only is Pandora always going to be struggling to keep up with new music as it comes out, some music, by it's very nature is going to defy their classification schema, especially more experimental stuff. Last.fm, through it's aggregation of listener data will ALWAYS be on top of new music, and the recommendations will be much more meaningful once it has enough data from you to work off of.
- jenn2d2, on 07/16/2008, -1/+6@gravis86 - I realize this is off-topic, but you don't need the extra $15 "business" plan to setup push Exchange. That's enabled for regular iPhone accounts as well, and functions over the unlimited data connection. The business plans are for enterprise users with a corporate setup (usually they get more minutes for less money).
To be on topic, Pandora's app is good - but I have to say that I prefer Last.fm's app. They're both free, and they both work fairly well. - Palaceguard, on 07/16/2008, -2/+7How do you know? You know my income and seen my bank account?
- joel8x, on 07/17/2008, -0/+5I dugg you up because of your positive comment. I just thought I needed to share that.
- Diggnabbit, on 07/16/2008, -0/+5I actually get a lot of dropping or even outright hanging when using it over Edge.
- tnoy, on 07/16/2008, -1/+6Until AT&T decides that unlimited and unlimited are two different things.
- digggggggggg, on 07/16/2008, -1/+5The iPod wasn't the first digital audio player, nor was it the best. But did it cause a revolution in the way people listen to music? I'd be hard pressed to argue against that.
- y0urcl0ne, on 07/16/2008, -1/+5The streaming wasn't this good before.
When I had it on my phone it was really bad quality. - DesdinovaEL, on 07/16/2008, -1/+5Pandora completes the ipod/iphone. The only thing missing from before was a way to discover new music without buying it. Now it has a way for you to listen to unlimited radio stations, ad free, of whatever music you want to hear. Its perfect. lol, better than monkey ball.
- Morphy86, on 07/16/2008, -0/+4For people from outside the US you can use a proxy server from The US to fool pandora, and get acces to the site.
I did it and pandora is quite nice :-) -
