- inactive, on 02/16/2008, -21/+97I'll take that Chinese girl in the photo to go, please.
- Xela21, on 02/16/2008, -11/+51the girl in the picture's cute...
- techresearcher, on 02/16/2008, -3/+40Chinese are smart. Too bad for their government.
- oxdeltaxo, on 02/16/2008, -1/+31I love how Asia and Europe always have the good tech which we can't have, but we come out with something good they get it in excess ....
- momsshizzle, on 02/16/2008, -13/+40I dugg you up. I guess the people who dugg you down are gay.
- CatalystDM, on 02/16/2008, -3/+18Are they sure they're not hiPhones?
http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/06/keepin-it-real- ... - KibibyteBrain, on 02/16/2008, -3/+16If your version of maturity lusts for the iPhone over the girl, I'm glad I'm not mature. Maturity is overrated.
- Ninnux, on 02/16/2008, -0/+13Went to a school in Chicago for work. One of my classmates was from Moscow. He went into Chicago over the weekend and bought 3 iPhones in cash. On the return to school Monday, he had them unlocked and ready for Russia. 80% of the class was from outside the US. I'm sure many others had similar intentions.
- MonkeyFarts, on 02/16/2008, -3/+15Eh, their loss.
- i4ybrid, on 02/16/2008, -0/+12This is very likely true. Chinese people are paying more than retail value for people that go to china to ship them there. I know this for a fact since I'm Chinese. I was talking to family members and they were asking me to bring 3 iPhones back with me if possible, they'd pay me for them and sell them on the market for a profit.
- mthmchris, on 02/16/2008, -2/+14That'll be 120RMB,
(please don't ask how I know the going rate for girls in China) - Hangly, on 02/16/2008, -1/+10Mine will be 400,001
- KibibyteBrain, on 02/16/2008, -0/+9Don't forget their recent ban of horror movies, or bizarre changes like ordering that certain models in the WoW game be swapped out for slightly different ones. China's government seems to have an almost irrational desire to manipulate speech and expression.
And who knows how much money China actually has, as they have been gaming the global currency market via menu effects for so long now and so well that no economist really knows what's to make of it.
China has more potential than any nation on earth right now, but their government just sucks, and its one of the few that does it better than the US's. - jemka, on 02/16/2008, -6/+15Or, they don't find Chinese women attractive.
- SlvrEagle23, on 02/16/2008, -1/+8*The grammar correction in the reply is unnecessary.
agreed! - inactive, on 02/16/2008, -1/+8The grammar correction in the reply is unnecessary. (Fixed without the asterisk at the beginning.)
agreed! - orangefly, on 02/16/2008, -1/+7tool....
- kangorillas, on 02/16/2008, -8/+14the asian girl is ridiculously hot hah. Apple is loosing so much money for having their phones locked!
- adt41287, on 02/16/2008, -0/+6how come your screen name isnt HangLEE then?
- AgentAce, on 02/16/2008, -2/+8Who the hell wants to use AT&T and GSM?
- Kyora, on 02/16/2008, -1/+6Lol they talked about how that someone broke the iPhone lock on national Chinese News. Go figure.
- sakuraz, on 02/17/2008, -2/+7More for me!
- inactive, on 02/16/2008, -2/+7The girl? The Phone? Both maybe?
- mthmchris, on 02/16/2008, -0/+5I know this is strictly anecdotal, but I'm in Shenzhen China and see many people with the iPhone. In the States, not so much.
- Focher, on 02/16/2008, -0/+5Well, at least you confirmed that employees at Apple Stores don't work on commission.
- blackjack75, on 02/16/2008, -1/+6Not sure they'll meet their goal but definitely no 3G is the number one reason, price-aside not to get one. Every cheap Sony phone has 3G in my country and really going back to EDGE would be like changing my internet connection back to a 56k modem.
- UNL1M1T3D, on 02/17/2008, -0/+5I like how you took a screen cap of her and made that your profile picture. And by like I mean I think it's creepy.
- wtfkeyhole2pro, on 02/16/2008, -1/+6Question is: would she let you?
- viciv, on 02/16/2008, -0/+4believe me, china mobile sucks. their gprs service is very poor...
- Emnsta, on 02/16/2008, -0/+4I would say Chinese, Japanese and Chinese have many notable differences.
- jemka, on 02/16/2008, -0/+4It's a disguise.
- PabloMac, on 02/16/2008, -3/+7Or you could switch carriers.
- javabeta, on 02/16/2008, -1/+4The 8GB iPhone costs 299USD for you guys, but we have to pay 4500RMB(about 600USD) for the cracked gadget.
- Elranzer, on 02/16/2008, -2/+5White American? She sure would.
- bobartig, on 02/16/2008, -0/+3Um, it's because you were mistaken? China is good for ramping up production on new designs cheaply and quickly, which requires engineering expertise, but in terms of original product development, they're not high in the books. High end innovation is still coming from richer nations who can spend more on wild R&D. Once you've made your fancy new widget, you take it to china and they make it cheaper and better.
Look at sectors like chip design. This field is dominated by US companies, whereas the ground-up chinese CPU companies are trying to develop something similar to a 1 GHz celeron to mass produce cheap computers from. - Ganja420, on 02/16/2008, -3/+6you're probably right since an ipod breaks about once a year... maybe those 4 million will have to buy replacements (i.e. the 3G)
- drunkenoaf, on 02/16/2008, -0/+3Yet still making money on the phones sold-- just not on the contracts.
- windohs, on 02/16/2008, -1/+3Um...iphone starts at $399
- aamo, on 02/16/2008, -1/+3It seems weird to me that these articles never mention Canada. The iphone isn't supposed to be sold there either but i know just as many people with iphones as any other phone.
- drizzlelicious, on 02/16/2008, -0/+2I personally know 3 of them.
- MacParrot, on 02/16/2008, -2/+4And you have statistical data showing that iPods break yearly? I've kept mine for well over two years per and have yet to have one break. Don't be a troll.
- inactive, on 02/16/2008, -0/+2It really doesn't surprise me when Apple still haven't gotten their finger out and started to sell the iPhone in Asia. I'm still waiting!
- qpdb, on 02/17/2008, -0/+2chant. Free iPhone Free iPhone
- hexydes, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1Guess what, this is what happens when you outsource your manufacturing to a different country. Would it still happen if you kept your manufacturing in the US? Possibly, but I will bet you that you could clamp down on it a lot faster, and a lot more effectively.
- inactive, on 02/16/2008, -1/+2China Mobile /= Chinese Model
- justcharlie, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1I live in China and know a lot of people with iphones here. They cost 3,800rmb (just under $500) unlocked.
- romeosc, on 02/17/2008, -0/+1Now I know why my Apple stock dropped $70 a share!
- LeekMibles, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1I'm one of those 400,000 :D
I'm from Chicago, born and raised but living out here in mainland China. Yea, it's like $600 but that's a very normal price for cell phones here. It's kinda weird though considering how so many local folk get that much per month but still walk around with nice phones.
But yea, the iPhone is dope! But it's only dope if you mod the hell out of it... - Akraz, on 02/16/2008, -8/+9I'd hit it
- sakuraz, on 02/17/2008, -0/+1It was "HangLi" but he decided to live on with his typo
