- evensong, on 02/08/2008, -3/+31The dev team no longer represents the interest of the community. Stop donating to them and donate to real hackers and coders like Geohot and Nate True. Zibri may be an idiot, he's not even a coder, but even he can clearly see the BS with the dev/elite team.
Oh, and don't listen to the dev/elite team when they say "don't use untested code" in reference to pretty much anything not made by them. AFAIK, everything made by geohot has been safe. He made the first virginizer before the dev team decided to call it theirs. - lfernandez91, on 02/08/2008, -0/+19I agree. Geohot is the real master of the iPhone unlocking scene. The dev team has crapped itself.
- EvilJelloMan, on 02/08/2008, -0/+13Agreed - the dev team are a bunch of whiny elitist douchebags who love attention and don't actually share anything. When they announced that they had a jailbreak for 1.1.3 but weren't releasing it, there was a ***** on their forums. In the "please donate to the dev team" thread, tons of people posted that the dev team were ripping people off, taking their money and not sharing the things they found - every one of those posts was deleted. The dev team can suck a fat one.
- movd, on 02/08/2008, -1/+14why do you guys always need engadget to digg something?
this was published shortly after the real release: http://digg.com/apple/Finally_iPhone_1_1_2_OTB_Unl ...
(and linking to the article directly) - wisam, on 02/08/2008, -1/+11Somebody knowledgeable please go through this thread and write us a detailed HOWTO.
http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=2 ... - LaSepultura, on 02/08/2008, -2/+11So the end result is jailbroken 1.1.2 firmware? I suppose you then can use the 1.1.2 to 1.1.3 jailbreak. I'm in for the obligatory "i'll try it when I get home" post.
Damn you, work. Damn you. - Zippo, on 02/08/2008, -2/+10When is that SDK from Apple coming out anyways?
- spudlyo, on 02/08/2008, -0/+6Maybe digg users just like the dumbed down story from Engadget better. Two weeks ago I went back to slashdot for my tech news. In my mind digg is no longer a good tech news site. Thanks for the link movd.
- wisam, on 02/08/2008, -0/+6These are the closest I can find to a detailed tutorial

http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=2 ...
Still, I need a really detailed step by step HOWTO. - zetsurin, on 02/08/2008, -1/+6Why the hell didn't the ACTUAL source of this information not get Dugg up, and instead the Enggadget (intentional, think about it) link get popular?
http://digg.com/gadgets/Out_of_the_box_1_1_3_iPhon ... - Trax91, on 02/08/2008, -7/+11*****' finally!
- zetsurin, on 02/08/2008, -0/+4Exactly. It's obvious what goes on in Digg land.
- bjarkebech, on 02/08/2008, -2/+5w00t 16gbs!
- wisam, on 02/08/2008, -0/+3No, Basicly what you do if you have 1.1.2 OTB or 1.1.3 OTB is downgrade to 1.0.2 then use the software. After that you upgrade back to 1.1.2 (not 1.1.3). The end result is an unlocked 1.1.2 iPhone. You could downgrade to 1.1.1 but downgrading to 1.0.2 causes less troubles.
- inactive, on 02/09/2008, -0/+2I think spudlyo meant in general, and I think that you knew that. Ass.
- browny1978, on 02/08/2008, -1/+3best and easiest way - http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=649
- LaSepultura, on 02/08/2008, -0/+2Supposedly this month. Unfortunately it's impossible to get an exact date because of Apple's stupid "check out this new feature available today" business model
- starf, on 02/08/2008, -0/+2You have to downgrade the bootloader too. It's a pain.
- hungarianhc, on 02/08/2008, -1/+3Hmmmmm time to upgrade from my 8gb T-Mobile iPhone to a 16gb T-Mobile iPhone?
Nah i'll wait for 3g... then i'll just jump ship to ATT if I have to... - spudlyo, on 02/08/2008, -0/+2Turns out I'm wrong. Digg me down. Here's the real explanation for the hack:
"I finally found a working exploit about 23 hours into my search for the software unlock. The explict addresses 0xA03D0000-0xA03F0000 will always erase. This exploit relied on two things, the secaddrs are copied before the secpack is validated(stupid), and the erase command extends the range to whatever is in the secpack. So I tell it to erase 0xA03D0000-0xA03F0000, the erase command sees 0xA03C0000 to 0xA03F0000 in the secpack; BOOM secpack erased."
Source: http://iphonejtag.blogspot.com/2008/02/11246unlock ... - jacksim, on 02/08/2008, -2/+4Today I saved two phones accidentally upgraded to 1.1.3 and unlocked two with 1.1.3 out of the box with his solution. geohot is TEH MAN!
- vernsan, on 02/08/2008, -1/+2http://modmyifone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2935 ...
I found this one very useful for people who want are AT&T customers just wanting to jailbreak. - felipetaylor, on 02/08/2008, -1/+2It sure took a while. I'm surprised that it's actually so easy to get it done.
- IvanB, on 02/08/2008, -1/+2So from what I understand: you upgrade your 1.12OTB to 1.1.3 through iTunes and then use this software unlock?
- ScottyDontKnow, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1whats a link to the thread for the iClarified installer ????
- TheSnuffster, on 02/08/2008, -1/+2Yes
- mentol, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1By the end of the month probably : http://www.biztoolbelt.com/2008/02/rumor_new_apple ...
- wisam, on 02/08/2008, -2/+3Man, this story is developing really fast. Since this digg submission was made 8 hours ago lot of things happened. New threads with new discoveries keep appearing on hackintosh.org. Now there's a installer by iClarified so there's no need for terminals and commands. Somebody is also reporting that he unlocked his 1.1.2 OTB without even downgrading. I've been monitoring this topic for a few hours now but I'll wait till tomorrow before unlocking the iPhone I have in hand. Things would be settled by then.
- thashiz, on 02/08/2008, -1/+21.1.3 hates the jailbreak/downgrade. I've heard some success by:
1. Downloading the previous firmware package from Apple
2. Hold the power and home buttons on the Touch for 10 seconds. Release power button and continue holding the home button for an additional 10 seconds. Plug into the computer.
3. Hold shift (on Windows) or option (on Mac) and click restore in iTunes, then choose the previous firmware version.
4. Pray to deity of your choice.
Note: if you get an error, repeat and try holding the home button from the time you initially press it, through when you plug it in, and all the way through the restore process. - wisam, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=649
- LifeIsARhythm, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1I am an idiot and upgraded my ipod touch to 1.1.3 without jailbreaking thinking i could just downgrade it easily. Does anyone have any links on how to down grade from 1.1.3. I am completely clueless when it comes to this stuff.
- inactive, on 02/13/2008, -0/+1uugggghhh, does anyone know why folder tweak 1.1.1 isn't in the installer anymore? Why are they always taking things out? I've downgraded to 1.1.1 and now im totally stuck without oktoprep (as followed by this link http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=461 ... digg my down if you will, i dont care.
- bertdevriese, on 02/09/2008, -0/+1Yeah, the result seems so be 1.1.2.
Which kinda sucks.... .... honestly! - squirrel83, on 02/09/2008, -0/+1after reading business weeks article sounds like they have no choice. . .Screw ATT .. . like they need more money.
- zetsurin, on 02/08/2008, -1/+2Dumbed down? All engadget did is post the readme.txt file!
- mlavergn, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1Amen to that! While we're at it, where's the AppleTV 2.0 upgrade shown on Jan 15th? On the topic of the SDK, has anybody uncovered anything about whether the apps will have to be signed by Apple or if self-signing will be an option? I'm thinking we'll see iTunes 7.7 "soon" because 7.6 doesn't seem to offer any clues as to how it will be done.
- Wang, on 02/09/2008, -0/+1From hackthatphone.com (good resource): "GeoHot's unlock today is for 4.6 bootloaders only. It will unlock 1.1.2 iPhones out of the box (by downgrading to 1.1.1, et cetera), you could then use the Installer based 1.1.3 firmware update to get to 1.1.3 firmware, but you will still be on 04.02.13_G baseband. Follow? This unlock is not for 1.1.3 out of the box iPhones. It will however downgrade the baseband on the 1.1.3 from 04.03.13_G to 04.02.13_G and you can unlock that. You will always have a mismatch here: you can run 1.1.3 firmware, but you must use 1.1.2 baseband to get a phone signal. Until 1.1.4 comes out there is no secpack to crack to unlock 1.1.3 yet. So go raid your local Apple or AT&T store before Apple updates all the phones in the stores right now. They are literally hemorrhaging unlockable phones right now."
- danjal, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1use this one, its a source install
http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=2 ... works on 1.1.2, and bootloaders 4.6, i should know.. i did it just a few moments ago! - mRIpX, on 02/09/2008, -0/+1fu fu
- danjal, on 02/08/2008, -1/+1for a dead simple guide, check out, cause all you need is to add a source to your installer!
http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=2 ...
its a simple to use unlock, how do i know, ive used it now myself, yes it works on boot loader 4.6, and yes it works on 1.1.2, that i can verify my self.. again.. its DEAD SIMPLE.. - Zedian, on 02/08/2008, -2/+2As with all things iPhone-related about freaking time...first the 16gbs now this. Too bad I got stuck with the 8gb that's chastity is completely locked.
- mtxprime, on 02/09/2008, -1/+1***** it Work ***** great !!!!
- ScottyDontKnow, on 02/08/2008, -6/+6So does this then make the phone 1.1.2 instead of 1.1.3? So I can have iPhone in Canada ?
- Charlotte_Web, on 02/08/2008, -2/+1No, but it does come with Duke Nuken Forever pre-installed.
- inactive, on 02/08/2008, -3/+2nice...though I don't need to unlock
- spudlyo, on 02/08/2008, -5/+4This hack brought to you by the hex bytes:

http://tinyurl.com/yuscx4 - alansky, on 02/09/2008, -2/+1Remember, kids: NO WHINING when your unlocked iPhone stops working after the next iPhone update. Messing with the terms of the warranty is strictly at your own risk. And good luck!
- inactive, on 02/08/2008, -1/+0It works :) !
- TheSunToucher, on 02/08/2008, -2/+0Here is a pretty good german tutorial:
