- theprez, on 10/24/2007, -6/+483The story should say "Coma Saves Man $200".
- bigkm, on 10/23/2007, -12/+476sort of like cartman and the wii.
- WardC, on 10/23/2007, -13/+193and remember, he also saved $200 !! :-P
- kindwarrior, on 10/23/2007, -15/+167yeah, I liked it; More as a human interest story than an Apple one; Although it was awfully nice what the local Apple store did -- much more human than throwing money at him.
- inactive, on 10/22/2007, -7/+138Best hope he doesn't use Digg, eh?
- iching, on 10/23/2007, -13/+144A good news story with a happy ending for a change. dugg.
- EvilDr.X, on 11/13/2007, -3/+94Oooh, and Evila is Alive spelled backwards! What's going on here?!
- edenseager, on 10/23/2007, -13/+104"I had the old Geoff back except now with a better phone"
:| - j1a1g1, on 11/13/2007, -8/+89Did anyone notice that Denots is Stoned backwards?
- streak, on 10/22/2007, -26/+107iPhone brought me out of the coma I was in, too... using Treos and HTC 8525.
- Iwantawii, on 10/22/2007, -5/+78I know exactly how he feels, I slept in and missed getting in line for the Halo 3 launch
- thcobbs, on 10/22/2007, -5/+76Only to lose $250,000 in hospital related expenses.
- JustinHorne, on 10/23/2007, -4/+74""Geoff believes it's real, so that makes it real," said Denots'
You don't think he kinda suspects? It's that, or Apple employees do nothing but cheer iPhone purchasers all day. - Dawson1066, on 10/23/2007, -3/+69The story is a goof, guys. It never happened.
- skunkman62, on 10/27/2007, -5/+61did you notice that Geoff is Ffoeg spelled backwards?
- amneosis, on 10/23/2007, -2/+57dude, you've missed your calling as a newspaper sub editor.
- Pic0, on 10/23/2007, -3/+52i heard he used the coma to get out of his verizon contract...
- manitoba98xp, on 10/22/2007, -2/+43Or ever Google himself, since all of Google's results for "Geoff Evila" are this story.
- Makr, on 10/22/2007, -4/+44Says the guy who wasn't in a coma.
- ismith, on 10/23/2007, -10/+48Hope it doesn't suck when/if he finds out it wasn't real. I'd feel like such an idiot. Then I'd get over it though and be happy :)
- blamebla, on 10/22/2007, -3/+40You know his friend that set up the fake launch day kept the extra $200. He had to to keep the "realism".
- imikedaman, on 10/22/2007, -0/+33The two names backwards are "stoned" and "alive", and neither name appears anywhere online except the iPod Savior story. You'd think a great story like this would appear on at least one real news site, yes?
- brundlefly76, on 10/22/2007, -1/+33"Geoff Evila miraculously recovered from a four month coma after a near fatal car accident and realized he'd missed the launch of the iPhone......"
That is the consumer byline of the century. - Makr, on 10/23/2007, -9/+37Does it really matter if it was real? to the guy it was, so what's the problem? besides anything that helps you get through recovery is always a good thing.
- Zap2, on 10/23/2007, -7/+33wait, it said the guy got out of his coma, and was like "Darn, missed the iPhone launch"
So he went to get one, and it was set up like launch day, and he was fooled....but didn't he wake up and remembered he already missed the launch day? - skunkman62, on 10/22/2007, -2/+24they didn't print the end of the story.
"Evila later slipped back into a coma after he found out AT&T is the carrirer." - Jok3r, on 10/22/2007, -7/+27Your pathetic. The man wanted an iPhone and he was in an accident. The Apple Store went along with it and made him happy for a few minutes. The store could of not done anything and just say they dont make special requests for people and just treated him normaly. I respect the store for putting effort into this.
- GawtMilk, on 10/27/2007, -2/+22You know, they call them fingers but I never see them fing.
- Shorties, on 10/22/2007, -3/+22Well I know what you are doing right now...
- Mononuclear, on 10/22/2007, -3/+22I was with you up until you started wishing that other people were in the same situation and had no one there for them.. You my friend are the prick.
- rajun50, on 10/22/2007, -1/+20a fake picture... http://www.noelgreen.com/2007/07/using-the-iphone. ...
- h4mx0r, on 10/22/2007, -2/+19Minus the time travel and the beaver people.
- skunkman62, on 10/22/2007, -1/+18The near fatal car accident was caused when Evila was searching for his ipod and chatting on his cell phone while driving. Evila said " Now that I have the iphone, I can have one hand on the steering wheel. God bless you Steve Jobs!."
- inactive, on 10/22/2007, -4/+21humbug.
- thcobbs, on 10/22/2007, -1/+16I was including health insurance.
- inactive, on 10/22/2007, -1/+16Yea, that's exactly like going into a coma for 4 months.
- cycledesign, on 10/22/2007, -1/+15cmpshotty's actually right. People who come out of comas don't just snap awake like they do on tv. It can take months of training before they can do anything normal (walk, talk, etc.). Many coma sufferers report that when they initially wake up, they feel like they're in a dream and refuse to believe that anything is real. I think that it'd be just as easy to think that the fake things are real as it would be to think that the real things are fake. Having your brain shut down for months or years at a time can do strange things.
- inactive, on 10/22/2007, -5/+19it must have happened I can see a picture :)
- rajun50, on 10/23/2007, -0/+12I smell a fake. Here's the picture they used which belongs to another site. If the picture's fake the story may well be a fake too.
http://www.noelgreen.com/2007/07/using-the-iphone. ... - livingwater, on 10/23/2007, -2/+14There's more to life than iLife. There's windows, linux, sex, etc.
- spadgos, on 10/23/2007, -2/+14evila = alive, backwards. just sayin'
- latrosicarius, on 10/22/2007, -11/+23You missed the best part :|
"...now with a better phone, his last Verizon phone sucked." - Shiner6, on 10/22/2007, -2/+13What's pathetic is your inability to click "Reply to this comment"
- shinynew, on 10/22/2007, -0/+11wont it he be more devastated when he figures out that this entire story is made up and he doesn't exist?
- ericdano, on 10/23/2007, -4/+15Great story. Hope the guy makes a full recovery.
- JaffaC, on 10/22/2007, -1/+11Oh, There they go...
- l00s3r, on 10/22/2007, -2/+12I'm glad he recovered his consumer brand identity.
- blazes816, on 10/23/2007, -4/+13Although the iPhone is far from the first thing I would think about after coming out of a coma, that is super badass of his friend and the apple store.
- inactive, on 10/22/2007, -2/+11Damn, I feel sorry for your mother. Not that she was in a coma, but that she instead woke up to you.
- spinningobo, on 10/22/2007, -4/+13Nice observation with the names.
