- jiminoc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13there's already g4 builds, google it mofo
- Electric_Sheep, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Optimize is the American variant of Optimise.
- brbubba, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Optimise is the Brit variant of Optimize.
- sfacets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The name is still Bonecho, and not Firefox, as the author of the build specifies on his website.
- timdorr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4There are some optimizations done with the compiler with these builds that are not done in the release builds. This is because these optimizations aren't supported on all processors. It's mainly on Javascript and image processing that you'll get the most increase in speed. It's anywhere from 5 to 15%.
- plum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3G3 & G4 Builds:
http://www.furbism.com/firefoxmac/ - lickmygiggle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4its pretty easy to change it back to firefox if you really want to.
Just go to the app, show the package contents and look for the en.lproj folder in the resources folder, open up infoPlist.strings and switch bonecho to firefox....Switching the icon is just as easy....(hint, switch out the firefox.incs file) - brbubba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Could someone please tell me why I would care to download an intel optimized version when they already have a universal binary version? I also don't see a speed difference.
- samadam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Compiling for something is not automatically optimising for something. For instance, and I really don't know about firefox in specific, but the standard build may just be compiled for a x86 processor. This one may use things like sse 2 and sse 3 that are in the mac intels. Just a guess, i always use them because I like the widgets.
- chinarut, on 11/08/2007, -0/+2Could someone explain the difference between the "official" optimized builds:
http://www.furbism.com/firefoxmac/
vs the Bon Echo builds I'm using right now?

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I couldn't get Greasemonkey to work, so I'm sticking with the default, but with Firefoxy and Grapple Uno.
- Mikecol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Greasemonkey works perfectly for me.
- zeppo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes the small font problem is finally fixed at least in the "firefoxy" version. Goodbye regular firefox!!!
- FunkyWitDaSysTm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i agree, and while not having done the work to provide the links, BonEcho, the G4 build, is not only available, but if you have it already, updates itself! this auto update the suto-update of the custom build(s) is, as far as i'm aware, a new feature in FF2.
if so, then thanks mozilla for including us G4 users in your feature set consideration. if i'm worng, then why the hell didn't it auto update before? - neilio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1G4 builds are now available, folks!
- landmonster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does Flash work in this build?
- B-o-K, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Can this one show SVG in a propper way? The last one I tried could not...
- drbroccoli, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Or rather, recompiled for intel macs. I wonder what cflags you use for Core 2.
- bmxboy661, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yes
everything works
its just firefox, but edited for intel macs - koregaonpark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Right. I misread that while posting. Thanks for correcting me.
- hadimirza, on 03/26/2008, -1/+2WOW......200 times more faster than regular firefox!!
Thank You! - kasted, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1its the same speed for me... what a waste, and a ***** icon too..
- B-o-K, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Tried the G4-build "BonEcho" - no luck again this time with SVG (that I need to check my Tomato WRT54-stats)...
- zeppo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1you would want to get the specific processor optimized versions because they are faster and take half the hard drive space of the regular versions.
I used these builds but there is one major problem when you have to type in web forums such as digg these versions of firefox make the font so small that it is very difficult to use. - mikev, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Perhaps the PPC code is removed, making it smaller in filesize. I haven't read the article - so maybe optimized is performance wise...
- Senescence, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1You may want to start spell-checking your titles here. It makes things seem a little more reputable.
I don't mean to be a dick, but it's only one button. - AJRiddle, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1http://www.opera.com/
