- cheesejaguar, on 08/17/2008, -3/+38Nobody really cares about disabling voicemail, the article had iPhone in the title and therefor was dugg up.
- Zector, on 08/17/2008, -3/+14The problem with voicemail is that you have to wait and listen to a robot for a minute, then press a button and hope you press the right one, and listen to each of your voicemails one by one. I absolutely hate the regular voicemail system for that one reason.
It's too much of a hassle and for a long time I had never checked my voice mail.
One day I heard about the beta for YouMail, which is a step in the right direction, but I couldn't be bothered to log into a web page every time I wanted to check my voice mail. That was quickly forgotten as well.
The iPhone presents a brilliant, though unprotected, better way of checking and managing your voicemail right on your phone.
I couldn't think of a reason to disable it, and I don't believe it presents a problem to anybody.
My family believes email is for "funny" chain letters with powerpoint slides. I would rather they didn't know my email.
So in short, what I'm trying to get at is....
Who gives a *****? - Nothlit, on 08/17/2008, -0/+7You put spaces between your words, so I know you know where the spacebar is...
- inactive, on 08/17/2008, -1/+8Actually, I'm genuinely interested in who cares.
- bluesdealer, on 08/17/2008, -2/+6WTB less WoW acronyms. QQ more plz!
Seriously, though. I'm a gamer, but I don't go around speaking or typing MMO lingo when it doesn't make sense. - MarkMech, on 08/17/2008, -0/+4You cut me deep fanboi, you cut me deep.
- Radan, on 08/17/2008, -0/+2I heard smashing the phone on the sidewalk works as well.
- diemunkiesdie, on 08/17/2008, -0/+2Voicemail is so simple!
When I get a message I dial 123 (I have T-Mobile) and it says "1 new message" then it automatically plays that new message. Then it goes into the options for what to do but I don't need to hear those, I know the one that counts! "Press 7 to delete message" and then I immediately hang up.
There is no hassle and I don't know how many voice-mails you get that makes it a hassle but I usually pick up my phone when it rings so I only get about 2 or 3 voicemails a week. Since voicemail is a free service I'm not going to complain, especially when it works perfectly!
T-Mobile FTW! - diemunkiesdie, on 08/17/2008, -0/+2Um... locojones, where did I say the voicemail was difficult to operate? I made the comment to say how EASY voicemail is, not to say how hard it is!
Maybe I wasn't clear enough! So let me clarify: I was making the point that voicemail is easy (and I like it) because Zector was talking about how he hates normal voicemail. - jonahan52, on 08/17/2008, -0/+2How is it unprotected? You can put a lock code on your iPhone.
- xoineg, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2if you dont want visual voice mail why not just put the iphone in airplane mode....waste of time and effort
- bluesdealer, on 08/17/2008, -0/+2Show me a phone with a better web browser, UI, mp3 player, or screen quality before the iPhone came out. And don't say N95 or any WM phone because I tried those and they don't match up.
- Akram, on 08/17/2008, -0/+21760 disable and 1750 to enable on 02...seriously this was slow to arrive, this is one of the first questions i asked back when it launched.
- ramsinks.com, on 08/17/2008, -0/+1Now how about SMS?
- yeskia, on 08/17/2008, -1/+2Are you by any chance an idiot?
- switchman401, on 08/17/2008, -0/+1AND then at the end this cat says, none of this works. You have to call AT&T. What a wasted minute of my life... GEEZE.
- martin308, on 08/17/2008, -0/+1Luckily for me Vodafone in NZ doesn't even have visual voicemail so I don't have to do anything to disable it! Cheers for saving me 5 mins VF
- nothing4me, on 08/17/2008, -0/+1Stop spamming that on every front page article! :(
- shank2001, on 08/17/2008, -0/+1doh
- Murdats, on 08/17/2008, -2/+2WTB and QQ are not WoW lingo.
WTB is common in anyone online marketplace system either game based or not, and QQ is from way before wow. - inactive, on 08/17/2008, -3/+3If you rely on your voicemail to deliver mission critical messages, I would suggest following the suggestion of the last sentence: "call customer service," rather than try these codes and risk actually effing up your voicemail.
- HonoredMule, on 08/17/2008, -1/+1I wish RSS used this feature more.
- bsonline, on 08/17/2008, -1/+1And I'm sure you've never used obscure jargon in an inappropriate place.
This is Digg. We speak in code for QQing out loud, if someone can comment in PHP then that dumbass can auction in his comment. - locojones, on 08/17/2008, -3/+2LOL Simple voicemail too difficult to operate? Yeah, the iPhone is totally for you then.
- iamvahe, on 08/17/2008, -5/+4I wish people used this feature more.
- inactive, on 08/17/2008, -2/+1Someone make a voicemail program for the iPhone so we don't have to pay for the service!
- inactive, on 08/17/2008, -3/+1Not a phone, a smart phone. A smart phone is more than a phone, really a mobile computer with phone capabilities.
That being said it is way over hyped - this is no new technology. - xsecretfiles, on 08/17/2008, -3/+1...I have a jailbroken phone, so wouldn't just removing the Sim card work?
- inactive, on 08/17/2008, -3/+1I noticed his name too XD
I thought I was paying too much attention. - duccodude, on 08/17/2008, -3/+1Jesus and video games don't mix well.

- jawbreaker4fs, on 08/17/2008, -6/+2Judging by the website your user name implies... www.1jes.us... shouldn't you just "turn the other cheek" toward things you don't care about? :-P
- nothing4me, on 08/17/2008, -7/+2ME!!! :)
- blackhand0114, on 08/17/2008, -10/+4Always nice to have more control over your phone.
- mookst3r, on 08/17/2008, -10/+3I LOVE the iPhone.I have had many phones, and this one is by far the best.It HAS to be the best cause text messaging on the iphone sucks, and everything else makes up for it.
- mdman, on 08/17/2008, -12/+3enough with the ***** Iphone already... *****... its a goddamn phone already! nothing more than what was already out there..
- MarkMech, on 08/17/2008, -12/+3WTB more iPhone spam.
