- mallow005, on 10/11/2007, -4/+14Am I the only one who doesn't know what OmniFocus is or does? I couldn't even figure it out from the blog post or the comments.
- marcjeanson, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6I was waiting for OmniFocus, but then I came across iGTD. So far it does everything I need and it's free.
- woojoo, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6I love the OmniGroup. They make essential productivity software that are easily serializable.
- vocaro, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4OmniFocus is not just a to-do list. It implements GTD, a well thought-out system for taking the stress out of getting things done. Read more about it here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gtd
There are many other apps that implement GTD, but OmniFocus looks like it's going to be one of the best. You can watch a video of it in action here:
http://www.omnigroup.com/applications/omnifocus/ - troydoogle7, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5gotta been the worst written blog post ever!
- vocaro, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2What specifically is wrong with it? It seems fine to me.
- sgtpinback, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2yes, it's not 1994, so people should know that "Omni" means OS X apps, and they should already know what GTD means without spending 10 minutes reading.
- wastern, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Because everyone, everywhere has internet access 24/7/365 with 0 down time or interruption? Why even have a desktop based web browser, lets put it online as well.....oh wait...
There are things you can do with desktop apps that just can't be done with web apps yet. Not to mention if Firefox or Safari crashes on me I don't want everything I'm working on to crash with it
I personally would like the flexibility of syncing to an online app from OmniFocus, but for normal use I'd prefer a desktop app. Being online to access my todos would just be too distracting, my bookmarks bar would call to me - EntropyGuru, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2For those of you confused by this app, or the acronym GTD, go take a look at Merlin Mann's site 43 folders, or lifehacker, or better yet, go straight to the source and get David Allen's book "Getting Things Done". The GTD system is much more than just a to-do list, and you might find it useful in your daily life if you can wrap your head around all of the details. Omnifocus looks to be an awesome app that implements the GTD system is a nice, elegant way. This is a "must check out" for any mac user.
- RBasil, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1This news is posted in the Apple news area. What the hell did you think it was, a windows program?
- blessing, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Besides iGTD ( http://bargiel.home.pl/iGTD/index.html ), lets not forget Actiontastic ( http://www.kaboomerang.com/blog/category/actiontastic/ ). Both donationware.
- rafal_m, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1iGTD i use it and it works
- bagagedrager, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I second for iGTD.
http://bargiel.home.pl/iGTD/index.html
(it even integrates with ical, quicksilver and isync!) - nbeighley, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1100% agree with you on that...the quicksilver plugin for iGTD is unreal and really makes it the perfect program for GTD solutions.
- objbuilder, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Yeah.. looks good to me too. Nice and simple. Especially like how the little icon controls blend into the interface. My only criticism is the main toolbar icons are kind of ugly.
- definetheline, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Nice one...
- funkpucker, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3I had to go through about three links to finally get a description. Looks like it's for helping you outline and organize a task list and provide visual cues and other application integration? Kinda like life project-management I guess.
Who are all these zombies who simply live to complete a to-do list? - Sartori, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2Anyone know of a Windows app similar to this? It looks nice, but I don't have a Mac yet...
- wastern, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Its the companies blog, those reading it would already know what it is. I would think that those on Digg would know how to go to the companies main page and see page about the app. Its 2 clicks to a whole page detailing it along with a video of the alpha build
- wharpua, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0from this April 20th post (http://blog.omnigroup.com/2007/04/20/omnifocus-screenshot-and-feature-overview/):
"Some of us feel pretty strongly that it’s time for you to have more information about OmniFocus... I have to explain that this is a work in progress, and what you see is not necessarily going to be in the final product. Omni’s engineers, who are known for their perfectionist attention to UI, are absolutely horrified that this is being shown to the public... so let me re-emphasize a very important caveat on their behalf: this is a work in progress."
Glancing at the OmniFocus mini-manual, the GUI still looks pretty similar to the April 20th post. I haven't looked too closely yet, as I haven't gotten the Beta yet. - freshjives, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0Nice digg, Alec.
- michaelGregoire, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1As with all their apps, the UI is atrocious.
- milezteg, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1I'm not really into GTD apps but I'll digg it ;)
- saintjames, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Good catch!
- colincornaby, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2I like Omni, and they normally put out very nice stuff, but OmniFocus's interface just looks awful:
http://www.omnigroup.com/applications/omnifocus/
C'mon Omni. We know you can make a classier interface. - unreal32, on 10/11/2007, -9/+1It took me like 10 minutes to figure out what OmniFocus is from the blog site. Geez. And then after all that, its an OSX app. Welcome to the Internet folks - its not 1994 any more. Apps belong on the web.

What is Digg?
