- caniglia22, on 10/10/2007, -3/+52i can't wait to see the new iMac and the new accessories.
- JoeBaynham, on 10/10/2007, -2/+43We dont know that was the new keyboard design for sure.
- bradbeattie, on 10/10/2007, -2/+34Fingers crossed for an update on the Mac Mini, despite the rumours of its impending demise.
- macguy815, on 10/10/2007, -0/+24So does this mean a redesigned mouse as well? Haven't heard any rumors about one, but I'm not sure how great the current mouse would look against the new keyboard, and the mighty mouse needs a redesign (the scroll ball breaks too easily)
- rebotfc, on 10/10/2007, -3/+24I think it says something about how highly rated apple's design team is that a keyboard release makes front page.
Yes that ways a very fanboy comment, and yes I do feel ashamed =( - HunterTV, on 10/10/2007, -1/+20I am curious to see where Apple goes next with this redesign, I'm thinking something along the lines of the iPod -- white face with metal back -- which would make a nice match to the new keyboard.
However, I suppose it's not totally unique to Apple, but this habit of sweeping the "old" under the carpet immediately after something new comes is a bit annoying. What if some people really loathe the new keyboard, or want a replacement? Sure there's alternatives and I suppose for some time there will be stock in other places (Amazon, etc. and eBay as well), but dropping it from the Apple Store right away isn't very helpful to people not jumping on the new iMac. I mean, don't build them indefinitely but a month or two overlap wouldn't kill them. - Mikecol, on 10/10/2007, -2/+21Actually, Apple hasn't said a word about a new keyboard.
- mingistech, on 10/10/2007, -3/+22how to upgrade like an Apple user: 1) sell your Mac you paid a couple of grand for just 2 years ago for a few hundred less than you paid 2) take that money and put it towards your new Mac
- Matrix_Prime, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17Please release a new iMac on Tuesday Apple! This will be my first Mac purchase, and I can't wait any longer!
- crazybrit, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14I'd say it was an earlyish prototype. If not, someone has WAY too much time on their hands.
- mikeveatch, on 10/10/2007, -2/+132 more days
- FXPooky, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Exactly :) People forget that Macs lose value far slower than PCs.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13What makes it even worse.
- virtualball, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11HAH! I'd rather have OS 9
- breser, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10If you look into the history of Apple it's these types of inventory issues that very much did almost kill Apple. They'd put out new models and have a ton of the old models sitting around, nobody would buy them and Apple was stuck with them. When Jobs came back he eliminated a lot of models and changed their processes such that they end up with very few of a model left over when a new one comes along. It might be overkill now with their own stores, but I doubt the strategy will change since it saved their butt.
- mingistech, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8I'm really starting to wonder if this is the iMac keyboard we can expect?

http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.engadget.com/media/2007/07/imac-slim-keyboard-5.jpg - bradwilki, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I just hope that these new keyboards dont gather up as much crap as the old ones do. It gets on my nerves every time I look down to see the pile of grime left right underneath the keys. Also, they best sort out the Caps Lock button light so we can see it.
Very very fanboy-ish, but hey I need a new keyboard! - bradbeattie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Bottom of that page:
[UPDATED 1:35PM EST: Yes, it's not true. And that's precisely why we have the Giz rule above. Never ever trust rumors. While it all seemed logical and quite obvious —and still is— the fact is that this was sent by a kid who shares the same name with Google's Product Manager Tom Oliveri, according to Engadget. My bad, sorry people.] - Me1000, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Stop bitching and bury the story if you dont like it!
- Mikecol, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6That doesn't work for everyone.
- bobbothegrayson, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4They just updated the Macbook Pro's with LED backlighting, DX10 capable graphics, and new Santa Rosa processors a couple months back. Don't be expecting another update for a bit.
- Mikecol, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4But you will need cannonballs for shoulders.
- loganhuddleston, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4or you could trade it in at a store like macauthority and have credit towards a new machine. you obviously dont have a f*ckin clue.
- Dan005, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5We no longer stock the iMacs and Mac Minis aswell. It's quite obvious what is happening here...
- omarciddo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Dude. Shut up.
- schoate09, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Not happening
- CaptainWookiee, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I hope they redesign the mighty mouse....mine stopped working recently. I'm now a happy owner of a microsoft mouse.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3The original rumor was that the new keyboard design would only ship with new iMacs, at least initially. I guess that's not the case.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Dumbass..
- cwoolf34, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3For ***** sake, it's anodized aluminum! I am sick of these big blogs talking about a brushed aluminum iMac, it's never going to happen. Brushed aluminum has never been used by Apple on hardware. They used for iTunes and Finder for a while. Leopard is axing brushed metal for good. Brushed has a linear feel to it. Anodized has a sparkly feel to it.
- bradbeattie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3We?
- joel8x, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Tell that to a designer who doesn't want to spend $10,000 upgrading to Universal Binary copies of their software. You will be able to get a lot of money for fast PPC Macs for a long time to come.
- romanpike, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I discovered this a week ago. My scroll ball will no longer scroll up. Would have been worse if it no longer scrolled down, but still very annoying.
- joel8x, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Who the ***** is we?
- aplardi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2However true that maybe, I hope it is. I think that new style would match my Mac Mini far better than the quick-dirty clear and white design.
- gfnw, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3How ***** lame would that be? Dear God no.
- rowlodge, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4didnt se jobs saying, "oh and one more thing",about this
- rowlodge, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4if so, should'nt have been in their last new product show, with jobs saying "oh.. and one more thing"?
- SPECOPS, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4just clean it with a lint-free cloth, roll the ball on the cloth, blow it a little, the debris will come out and it will work again.
- crazybrit, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I'm getting a new iMac come Tuesday, by the way.
- Verdanic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Some are good, even I as a PC guy admit - but you're totally justified in saying that, some products ***** suck as far as ergonomics and/or durability go yet are viewed as perfect because they match everything else. It does piss me off.
- joel8x, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The all in one aspect has been the key to differentiating the consumer line from the PowerMac/MacPro line. If they release a consumer priced desktop, it would probably cannibalize their professional computers.
- Me1000, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3And no one bitches as much as Microsoft fans
- joel8x, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I hope they ditch their current mouse design completely - I cannot use a Mighty Mouse - even for 5 minutes. It causes my whole wrist and forearm to flare up for days. I truly think that Apple needs to stop being creative with their mice and start putting out a product that everybody can use easily. Remember the old hockey pucks from the original iMacs? They haven't gotten much better since. And before you say get a new mouse, I work on computers for a living and sometimes I don't have a choice but to spend a few minutes with a user's horrible Mighty Mouse.
- SpacemanSpiff01, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Who the ***** is... never mind, you're not going to answer anyway.
- fanclerks, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I'm hoping for a Macbook Pro update, I know it's improbable, but never know. Not buying one until after Tuesday.
- zumpiez, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Inconceivable.
- Markpdotcom, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I love touchpads! Prefer them to a mouse to be honest! I'm a designer by trade and in the past used to love pen tablets, but now laptops are powerful enough and touchpads sensitive enough to use I just prefer them.
- Kratisto, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3It's probably because Mac users, being Jobs' slaves, buy Mac products, regardless of how good they are. Thus a new keyboard is a big deal, since they're going to use it; whereas a PC users buys whatever he or she likes.
