- ihatewindows, on 10/12/2007, -4/+27Will I be the first to say it? Finally, more porn!
- justinmorris, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24You mean only way. VLC does not play them.
- Flooq, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Also, Microsoft don't support WMV for mac anymore and recommend Flip4Mac for PPC too.
- SpacePirate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Yes, it has, for quite a while. The only thing it does support, apparently, is WMV3 Advanced, which I have yet to see.
- crammaz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Ohhh man it's been a long time coming.... no more rosetta *****!!!!
- justinmorris, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10WMP does not work on the Intel Macs, at least I could not get it to work.
- totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7sweet-now the Comedy Central videos work!
- kwojniak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6From MacUpdate:
- Added playback optimizations for Intel Macs
- Added significant export optimizations for PowerPC Macs
- Added multi language audio support in player
- Added overlay when importing WMV content in trial mode
- Added support for web authors to disable "save as" feature in web browser
- Improved support for MMS servers and live streams
- Fixed DCT Blocking issue (progressive deterioration with increasing distance from previous keyframe)
- Fixed encode errors when the audio bit rate is set higher than the video bit rate. - simX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6MWP? Mindows Wiidia Player?
- avatarpalin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I would hardly cause it *****, Rosetta offered a solid solution to cover the time difference whilst companies churned out there universal binaries..
.. There is just no pleasing some people... - Matrixsjd, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9and the only way I've ever watched them on my Mac, WMP for the Mac sucked, and I refused to install it.
- ronaldpoi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5At least in the meantime we had this beta preview (never seen on the official web) but this official release means they fixed those little bugs... also seems likes it runs faster...
- qpid, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10awesome! i tried to download this yeasterday and it wasn't out yet, this is the best way to watch wmv files on a mac
- trogdoor, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8"That's like asking if you can play Quicktime movies in WMP. Of course you can't, they're competing formats and players."
Yeh thats like asking if you can play WMV movies in quicktime, oh wait... - Motobike_man, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Anyone know if anything else was fixed other than it being Universal?
- fastfood15, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5i cant get it to work, i guess im a dumbass
- Genthree, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I was able to get it to work in quicktime by using using Rosetta for the installer utility and quicktime itself, but wmv's still wouldn't play in safari. I would have to download them and then play them. There was also a significant wait time for quicktime to open. Hopefully this will be much better.
- offsky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3> Added support for web authors to disable "save as" feature in web browser
Who wants that feature? (besides web authors) - wastern, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2the beta played embedded stuff just fine. did you have the browser plugin installed?
- Stecchino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I hate WMV. Long live MPEG.
- totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3the beta did, so i expect this to as well.
- katanna, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sweet! Compfused works in Safari now, you don't have to:
Download the file
Open Quicktime in Rosetta
Remember to turn off Quicktime in Rosetta...
Anymore!!!
The install worked perfectly for me.
Matthew - RamezaniK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Also, newer versions of Firefox on OSX are no longer compatible with MWP.
- nathos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2WMV's are playable with Front Row once you've installed Flip4Mac
- wastern, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1excellent. I've been using the beta since it was first released, it'll be nice to have a final version, though the beta gave me no troubles at all. it was much better then the old version, that thing crashed my browser all the time
- firsttube, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Apparently I found version 2.1.0.24 a week or two back, not sure where I downloaded it from. Been working great on my macbook ever since. What's the specific version of this one, besides being 2.1?
- MonkeyFarts, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Sweet! It's about freakin' time. Downloading everything and playing it with *shudder* Windows Media Player 9 has been an experience to forget.
- deadbaby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2They seemed to fix the playback delay & tracking problems that have plauged the earlier builds.
- tychop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does anybody know if it actually works now for embedded wmv's?
I tried the beta universal build, but that one only played downloaded wmv's. Not embedded. - jbus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4It's about time... Maybe Telestream and Adobe can share tips dragging out the length of time it takes to port a browser plug-in.
- Kerr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3runs like a charm...about time too.
- corsairstw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, I can't get it to work... I don't know why it wouldn't but it doesn't.
- phatpat88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1F4M has an anti-piracy sceme that is really annoying for those that actually paid, and just like to make fresh systems every year...
- gaius_baltar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So installed.
- bleonard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've been waiting for this since the first night I had my Intel iMac and tried to play that movie I just found and....yeah I'm glad its been released.
- SilentSpyder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Has anyone actually tried it? Flip4Mac makes WMV play through Quicktime, and iTunes is just like a modified QT player. So in theory it should work. I'm at work on a PC so I can't try it at the moment.
- kamaru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Finally, jebus took long enough...
- Arkitan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"In trial mode you can export 1/2 the duration of your source file up to 30 seconds"
- steal_apps01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1f4m used to be shat but they updates it and fixed buggs and its usable now.
The PowerPC version at least. - ryos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Seems to work in Safari and in QuickTime player on a MBP running 10.4.7. Sweet.
- dickyducky, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1still won't play most yahoo vidzzz :(
- pokemogu, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4So does this release support WMV3 codec?
I'm tired of seeing "does not support WMV3" alert from VLC on my Intel Mac. - tfaz1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Disk Image not mounting. Weird.
- excy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+02.1.0.33
- zzttrooper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Is it just me or has Flip4Mac WMV plugin just been buggy since the start? Playing WMV in your browser is hideous torture. The best bet is to just download the file and play it in MPlayer or VLC - at least they can play the content without freezing up, dropping frame and generally making your web page turn to slosh.
- pepelemoko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0why does it not work for streaming windows media?
- FatController, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It sucks. It watermarks WM that I export to Quicktime formats. Popwire doesn't do that...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Sweet -- I've been waiting for this for quite some time now!
- staceyeileen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0playing fine for me...
- kfsutops, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Finally, I get to listen to XM online while ready Digg.
