- neocitron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2nothing is Legal in the asian markets...
i don't want to be a racist.. but the mentality of us asians can be traced back hundreds of years... we're not really moral people when it comes to money and economics... however i'm Asian Canadian.. and i've essentially been raised in a different manner...
but in conclusion... Apple will get owned by the pirating Asian markets (except Japan, they love Apple) if they don't come up with an ingenious way to keep OS X secure. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Haha everyone who says "OMG APPLE SUX" is a 14 year old living in their parents' basement spending 9 hours a day either playing counterstrike or trying to get their mousewheel working on the latest alpha linux kernel"
Anyone that get's offended by a 14 year old debasing Apple is probably a 35 year old living in their parents basement. - Zerocool82, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hey the way the OS's wars are going. I think I'd buy it only if I didn't have Ubuntu Linux.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"what are the benifates of running os x on your pc other than it looks prity it seams to me that it utterly cripples a good pc"
I dawnt noo, meybie it haz a betur spel chekur thenn ur pc? - whizzbang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Who says its illegal? maybe its legal in Thailand?
- BiggPa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1you people saying "those asians have no morals/economic morals" because they are selling the fake OSx86 is kinda stupid...
however, it was us Americans who took advantage of Apple in the first place, they are just making a quick buck off it - JDOG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Looks classy.
*cough*
I think I just got SARS from looking at that. - Trjn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Who says its illegal? maybe its legal in Thailand?"
Just from seeing the packaging I can tell you that its in no way legal. I have some dodgy Indian copy of WinXP somewhere, it has "made by Bill Gates" on the packaging. And its on the same level of legality as this.
Because Apple hasn't released it, someone has just burnt the downloaded installer to a disk and stuck it in a package.
Me, I'll stick to downloading it when I get my hands on a new PC box. - gaius_baltar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can hear the sounds of BURNING IN HELL already.
- Niten, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The real downside to this is that it may ultimately convince Apple to include copy-protection devices on OS X. Think Windows XP-esque activation schemes and serial numbers. Yuck.
I love that I can just stick my Tiger CD in my Mac and install the thing without being treated like a potential software pirate. I hope that doesn't change. - Matrixsjd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah, illegally.
- BxBoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the question now is.. where to get (i mean buy) it! *evil smile*
- Trecherus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Vinylshakerz_-_One_Night_In_Bangkok.avi (24502272 Bytes)
http://rapidshare.de/files/5714550/Vinylshakerz_-_One_Night_In_Bangkok.avi.html - marosnax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0won't last long
- kejistan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Those of you who are saying that this will affect Apple's sales are being foolish. China has always sold bootlegs of every piece of software they can get their hands on, so this is nothing new. Besides, anyone who Apple is actually targeting will purchase the software through Apple or another reliable source anyway. This will not affect Apple's sales until Apple decides to make a big deal about it.
- mushoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So I guess this is available in Mexico as well. The Asian markets have strong ties with the Mexican ones. There is this place in Mexico City called Tepito, where they sell their stuff. You could get anything there.
- MrCoke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0somebody want to link a torrent file to this iso? for informational use only of course
- Trjn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"trin, I wasn't suggesting it was endorsed by Apple, I was just wondering if pirating software is illegal in Thailand? It probably is, but I don't now!"
International copyright laws would still apply, regardless of specific national laws. - whizzbang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0trin, I wasn't suggesting it was endorsed by Apple, I was just wondering if pirating software is illegal in Thailand? It probably is, but I don't now!
- echimu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hee funny but as far as I know it is difficult to get a geniune copy software in thailand. May be they are not aware of Linux...
- thatsiebguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Their gunna burn in hell..
- mooseboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'd much rather buy it from Apple.
- theone3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"You know what else is free? LINUX!"
Geez.
Us Windows users get Mac Spammers.
Mac users get Linux spammers.
What's next?
"OS/2 ROKz0Rz teh big 111!!!1" - dignan2681, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"They do everyone a disservice. Here, no one wins"
Obviously buyers in Bagkok do. - modpancake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+01. That should SO be the real packaging when it is released commercially. I simply love the retro-ness of it.
2. How much will OSX for x86 cost when it does come out? ~$150? - sneakerelph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0safe mode version? you can get into OS X without safe mode. all you have to do is delete the ATI* kexts from the /System/Library/Extensions folder if you have an ATi card or the GeForce kexts if you have a GeForce card.
- pseudojd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i wonder if it's not the safe mode version. i would pay for a working copy.
- sneakerelph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah but maybe they don't know its illegal?
- nextsteposx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well looks like Steve Jobs just got his excuse to HAVE to sell a retail OS X version...
...to stop piracy, just like iTunes was created to stop MP3 Piracy. - TRUEPATRIOT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0pffft why buy when you can get it free
- einsteindesign, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Who says its illegal? maybe its legal in Thailand?"
Not even close. International copyright and international trade agreements go hand-in-hand. If it was Cuba or some other country we don't have mutually beneficial trade with, it would be a different story.
Bangkok? More like punched in the *****. As in "they deserve to be". - hholland, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0On one hand, this sort of sucks. On the other hand, this may be the best thing to ever happen to Apple.
- Alaerus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm just hoping that things of this nature really are an eye-opener to Apple. I for one would love to buy a copy of OS X 86 for my PC, once it is released. Currently I dual boot XP Pro and Fedora Linux. I'm testing out Vista, and let me tell you, OS X 86 looks really nice to me right now. So hopefully Apple will see that there is a real demand for this.
- mkjones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ha ha ha ha!
Cool, I'l take 5 copies ;-)
These pirates always amaze me with crap like this :-) - salmonmoose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Like you don't download. Everyone needs to learn that the future is free. Ad-supported, people. I'll wait for Google OS... screw linux, screw apple. XP is ok in my book. =P"
Ads for what? other free ad supported products? Sounds like a great business model to me, no problems there ;) - Seaton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Somebody is throwing chairs around the office this morning!
OSX: BurnInHell Edition - Tomato, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is hilarious! OSX for Intel hits the streets... let's see how long it takes for Apple to crack down on this! :)
- Zeush8su, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm gonna have to make a few phone calls but I'm pretty sure I can get my hands on one(*for reference purposes only of course*)
- Neptuned, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0thats goin to piss them off...lmao
- Linuxrocks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Apple really can't do anything about it, I mean it's not like they're going to track these people in Bangkok down.
- greatdevourer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0*cough*I've been selling OSx86 boxes for about 3 months*cough*
Erm.. yeah... that's not cool - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is a step in the right direction ... at least for the future of the OS and even if it was not taken by crApple.
- DrMerle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I hope they keep the price at $129 too, it will be nice to point out to Windoze fanbots that it's cheaper, faster, more stable, more secure, the list goes on and on.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ dancentury
Golf clap! - JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Piracy is an indicator your business model is ***** up.
Give the people what they want in the first place, idiots.
Of course, I'd just pirate it anyways, but that's not the point! - Thebigman1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lol
- IceMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Anyone ever go see the multi floor computer malls in Bangkok? I have and it enough to make you want to cry. PC parts galore and pretty much all the software (games, music, and movies too) that would could ever want. Most of the warez are sold for less than 500Baht ($12US) a CD. Now, you could go into a DataIT store and buy the stuff legally too if you wanted. But I'll let you know that there was no shortage of buyers for the warez, locals, foreigners, even monks in their orange robes were to be seen picking up warez.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why did'nt it appear in china first
- DrMerle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ dancentury
That was ***** hilarious. You rule for that one.
Anyway folks, it's all part of Stevie's master plan, ***** if he could, I bet he'd give copies away to get everybody hooked then come out with some serious serial/activation scheme on the next copy. Kinda like a crack dealer, only selling something that I actually am happy to be addicted to.
Can't wait to see OSX smack down Vista before it gets out of the gate. Lovin this *****. -
