- AriaStar, on 10/11/2007, -6/+152Woz already has an iPhone. He's a prankster and just doing this for the hell of it.
- paulyj1124, on 10/11/2007, -4/+78LOL forget the news about Woz, did you see the vid below? The reporter getting her mic jacked. =)
- postitnote, on 10/11/2007, -7/+73"plus some for his three children"
I wish had lots of money. Then I could say things like "I can't wait to see the new Ferraris. I'll get a few for my kids." - JoeBaynham, on 10/11/2007, -0/+54He'll be paying with his 2 dollar bills I bet you!
- daveyeti, on 10/11/2007, -3/+41"plus some for his three children"
Two per person, Buddy. Figure out which kid you love most or get back in at the end of the line - edenj, on 10/11/2007, -3/+40Fox News mic jacking further down the page is far more entertaining.
- theblooms, on 10/11/2007, -3/+35The guy is a class act. Always has been, and I pray always will be.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+28dugg for the video of the mic jacking
- Kaosu, on 10/11/2007, -4/+23He is ***** WOZ. He'll get as many as he damn wants.
- EvilFerret, on 10/11/2007, -5/+22It would have been a lot cooler if it was somebody who didn't already have a case of iPhones in their trunk months ago. Woz probably wipes his ass with IPhones.
- jmontes, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14I think not. FTA:
"Althogh Woz is due to receive a complimentary iPhone from Steve Jobs on Saturday, he has a few other reasons to stay the wait." - airwalkery2k, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13I'm certain he was probably aiming for the iPhone. Or he hates Fox News. Either way, it was funny and very newsworthy.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11http://images.appleinsider.com/fifth-ave-wait-070629-5.jpg
It is just INSANE how much free publicity Apple gets. I cannot believe every news station in the country converged at the Apple store as if it had just been hit by a meteor.. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12It is when the lowest model cost more than my first car. ;)
- zodieman, on 10/11/2007, -8/+17It's Fox news. They deserved it.. *ducks*
- thecompkid, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11Sry, all I've got are threes and fours.
- babydill, on 10/11/2007, -5/+13Screw the Mic, That iPhone was soooo close!!!! what a retard
- cr125er, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9Free publicity.
- thecompkid, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6...like they even need to try.
- walt100, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5I fail to see how he's a hero for waiting in line. Might be a publicity stunt. Perhaps it's nothing more than just really wanting one now, and didn't want to wait to his free one arrived tomorrow. If that's the case, he's still not a hero. Just an excited geek, which is fine. The Digg headline makes me feel like I'm reading US Weekly. Who's going to do the geek version? http://www.usmagazine.com/january_29_2007_jlu Wow! Woz waits in line. He reads books. He walks his dog. He eats lunch. Tech gods, they're just like us!!
- mrASSMAN, on 10/11/2007, -5/+10I don't know about 'class act'.. maybe 'class clown'?
But we owe so much to him. - LaurenAnn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Or free spin?
- AngryBacon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Or, he could just get someone else in his family to wait in line with him. It's two per person, not family.
- CraigJ, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8you're just pissed off because you can't get an iPhone in the great white north.
- jmontes, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6I'm more impressed with the major of Philadelphia waiting in line for one:
http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/29/philadelphia-mayor-caught-camping-for-an-iphone/ - thecompkid, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Well, if you can't like your own company, what can you like?
- replica, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Got to love Woz.
- dmax801, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Woz was signing his book "iWoz" at MakerFaire. Spent a reasonable amount of time talking to my teen, who was in awe - as was I. His book is extremely easy, conversational reading. Seems like he's a bright, funny, nerd. We woulda been pals, I bet.
- LordSkywalker, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6I'm guessing he has at least 300 $2 bills with him. Maybe more for accessories.
- jekins, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I was never into anything Apple until the end of last year, when I decided to give it a shot when it came around time for me to get a new computer. The quality of the machine in most ways is great and it makes using my computer on a daily basis more fun (like how driving a car with nice handling and good HP is more fun than driving a Hyundai Excel. I like my iMac because it's a good computer and makes my day more enjoyable. And even though I don't have one yet, the iPhone looks similarly sophisticated. These are the reasons I like Apple.
As for Woz... for a lot of people he is kind of the embodiment of young, creative and rebellious culture that a lot of young people in the US respect a lot. People like Woz, not because he's good-looking, well-spoken and charming, but because he brings out good notions of that geek ideal that has affected the direction of our lives.
As for "fall[ing] in love" with a corporation, there are - believe it or not - some companies out there that are entities made of people who have put their own personalities into the organization to give it a life of its own. Disney comes to mind... While of course shareholders push to obligatorily maximize profits in our capitalistic society, the Disney company represents to a lot of people really profound ideals about humanity. There's nothing pathetic or pitiful about feeling good about the things you believe in. - Snuffy1, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7ok im ready for some paris hilton they have killed the iphone
- DaffyDuck, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Well, he's willing to wait in line to get one...
- Antimatter3009, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Honestly, have you been to Digg before? You don't have to duck. In fact, I think you can probably get up on a podium and enjoy everyone agreeing with you.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I'm not a big fan of fear-mongering.
Fox News Alert: I'm eating toast. Back to you Bill. - 22justin, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4hahaha that mic jacking was wicked....fight the power
- GiggleStick, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I guess if your like, a liberal arts major, or if your just here for the cool videos of cats or something, then that's OK. If you consider yourself any kind of a computer enthusiast, though, you should really know who he is. Is there a list of people you should know about? Here's a few
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doug_Englebart
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knuth
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Turing - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7It helps to just sit there wishing, wishing for all that money. Just wish and wish all day long. That's how people get money, by wishing. Wish a wish. Wish.
- trogdoor, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3What was that guy thinking? Here's some guy holding an iPhone and he steals the reporter's mic? WTF?
- eridius, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I actually waited in line with Woz to get my iPhone. Granted, he was at the front, and I was roughly 250 people behind him, meaning I wasn't just around the corner, but out the door. But I did walk past him and see him chatting with some folks there at the front. Pretty cool.
- TheRealDeal, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Invent something like the personal computer, then we'll talk.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6Yeah, that's the reason I'm digging this.
- leetdood, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4He brought his ***** Segway?
- break99, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4the only logical way to respond to the iPhone: No thanks...
- japanmoran, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4- yes, hell yes.
- thuang513, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2hahah LOL thats exactly what i was thinking too
- vault, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2You cared enough to comment on it, Mr. unemployed Philosopher.
- mandarin, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4WOZ is definitely the Man... Classy.
- coldfusion1970, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Ha ha ha. That US magazine link is hilarious.
