- keithconly, on 05/29/2009, -2/+19yep, I heard the Zune HD is going to get great cell serivce...
- anthropodeus, on 05/29/2009, -5/+21this article is pointless - these photos do not show anything interesting about the new iphone, and everybody already knew that it wouldnt have an OLED screen.

- bamatime, on 05/29/2009, -4/+18Why does every geek have a ***** hardon for OLED. The iPhone display was one of it's best features and most commented on at release and still holds up really well. To call it it's weakest link is just being ignorant of all the other terrible displays that were out at time of release and are still in circulation.
- gl77, on 05/29/2009, -6/+14OMFG!!! iPhone parts!!!!!!! uuuuuuggggghhhhhhhh <jizzes all over himself>
/iPhone fanboy. - AmusedToDeath, on 05/29/2009, -2/+10$80 for a bezel!? Overpriced much?
- alent1234, on 05/29/2009, -1/+8it's the apps and the ability to surf the web anywhere where you can't use a laptop
if you're lost and need gas, the Cheap Gas app will locate the closest station and give you directions
if you want coffee, there is a starbucks locator app
my wife has a bunch of kids apps like flash cards for our son to play with
wife's cousin needed jonas brothers tickets and no laptop around, there are apps to find concert tickets
needed to check airline ticket prices while sitting outside with my son, there is a kayak app
come next month there will be apps and hardware accessories to check your blood pressure, blood sugar, etc
and the 8GB refurb is $99 right now, same price as other phones - Nouman6, on 05/29/2009, -5/+12More eager to see what 3.0 update holds than the hardware updates.
- KnowNewIdeas, on 05/29/2009, -0/+7Genuine question: when and where did you hear it wouldn't have an OLED screen? Everything I had been reading up until this point said otherwise.
- mtxrawkus, on 05/29/2009, -1/+7Great honor!
- inactive, on 05/29/2009, -1/+7Here ya go: http://bit.ly/maaUc
- falafelkiosken, on 05/29/2009, -1/+7If you had watched the first iPhoneOS 3.0 keynote you would've known iPhoneOS 3.0 will enable iPhone to work as a turn-by-turn GPS Navigator
- MikeFromAmerica, on 05/29/2009, -2/+7Obviously you've not familiar with Apple or any of their customers.
- dagamer34, on 05/29/2009, -1/+6What is the point of GPS without a data connection to download maps?
- clclark33, on 05/29/2009, -0/+5If you're eligible for an upgrade, then wait.... they'll most likely announce the new phones next month and if you get one now, you'll probably not be happy when they upgrade the hardware. I just got notice from ATT that I can upgrade my N75 but I'm sitting on it until they release the new iPhone.
- bbtrev, on 05/29/2009, -1/+5ROFL! You said Zune
- brandonmay, on 05/29/2009, -2/+6ITS AN IPOD FOR CHRISTS SAKE!
- DatDudeWiggs, on 05/29/2009, -2/+6Sweet story dude
- samelevel, on 05/29/2009, -0/+4Dude, you're a ***** moron.
- Philbert, on 05/29/2009, -2/+6It's related to an Apple product, what did you expect?
- chockster, on 05/29/2009, -0/+4So, if the iPhone doesn't step up with a substantial upgrade, you're going to get an Android phone which has... no substantial improvements over an iPhone. Congrats.
- bjs3171, on 05/29/2009, -0/+4it's an ipod touch. the ipod is an ipod. the touch is supposed to be the iphone, with no phone. the end.
- levitron, on 05/29/2009, -0/+4The same as my Garmin in my car- it's got all its maps pre-loaded.
- blackjack75, on 05/29/2009, -0/+3I for one, always kept covering the speaker and muting it while holding the phone from the bottom. Moving the speaker a way is a actually good thing.
- jjones20, on 05/29/2009, -2/+5actually i think lacreme is right, it is an iPod.
- levitron, on 05/29/2009, -0/+3But it's not, though- it's a PDA- I can email, surf, play games, etc, as long as I have Wi-Fi.
- lacreme, on 05/29/2009, -5/+8it's a ***** ipod, not an phone
- inactive, on 05/28/2009, -1/+4Looks real to me. Weird that they changed the placement of the speaker.
- macslut, on 05/29/2009, -0/+3Last year, when the new one came out it was $299 for the 16GB. This was 2X the storage, plus GPS and 3G. The original iPhone could still be sold used for over $200...unlocked and in some countries for much more than that.
So for $100 you got the better iPhone, plus the new warranty. It was totally worth it for me.
I'll upgrade again this year if the new iPhone is $299 or less and has 32GB and some of the expected new features (digital compass, video recording, better camera, faster CPU, 7.2 3G).
It all depends on how much you use the iPhone and what you use it for. I get a ton of use out of mine, so breaking down the cost makes it totally worth upgrading for even modest upgrades. - Philbert, on 05/29/2009, -0/+2Yeah, you're right, from that bezel it looks like the new hardware might have a larger screen.
- SteveMax, on 05/29/2009, -1/+3An iPod is a media player. The iPod Touch is a "phoneless smartphone", a portable device with a real OS running third-party applications, with more computing power than many computers had years ago; how is it different from a Nokia N810, a Palm TX or a Dell Axim? It's a PDA, despite Apple not calling it so (just like Macs are PCs, despite Apple not calling them so).
- ohreilly, on 05/29/2009, -0/+2Nokia's GPS handsets all let you download the maps using your much faster internet connection.
Not exactly rocket science. - Philbert, on 05/29/2009, -0/+2I'm excited for 3.0 but I'm also now eligible for an upgrade so I'm curious to see if I should wait until this new hardware comes out.
- dagamer34, on 05/30/2009, -0/+2Apple hasn't licensed Google Maps for saving, plus we're talking about a LOT of map data that has to be stored on a Touch device. It wouldn't be that great for advertising 8GB worth of apps and music, if you really only get 6.
- migitalwarfare, on 05/29/2009, -1/+3Does Gizmodo read digg to get it's news stories? This same story hit the front page 2 days ago when it was posted to a different tech blog.
- gl77, on 05/29/2009, -2/+4exactly the name of the game for Apple.
- danydral, on 05/29/2009, -1/+3 There is no way in the Hell that i am spending $80 for plastic bodies made in china for probably less than a $2,
- Kanaka, on 05/29/2009, -0/+2Still little incentive for current 3G users to upgrade
- HappyScrappy, on 05/29/2009, -1/+3I just examined the new Sony Walkman OLED in detail yesterday. The downsides of OLED do not overcome the advantages. The screen only has 5 brightness levels (equivalent to backlight levels). It cannot show a decent color ramp at any of them (and they show them on the screen where you set the brightness level so you can see this, oddly). And when you turn the brightness down to the low levels to save battery the color goes to crap.
LCD is far better, at least right now. - mollerade, on 05/29/2009, -1/+2could its old location be replaced with another button... or two.. for gaming?
- LaceyBacry, on 10/29/2009, -0/+1Thanks
- bjs3171, on 05/29/2009, -0/+1i don't get "!="
shouldn't it be "/=" ? - Scaryclouds, on 05/30/2009, -1/+2Commonsense
- RawkusVoid, on 05/29/2009, -1/+2does your laptop fit in your pocket? does it make phone calls?
more importantly does your laptop make you look cool?
Yep, didn't think so. - bjs3171, on 05/29/2009, -0/+1so...is there a video camera part in there?
- sbraidley, on 06/03/2009, -0/+1http://digg.com/d1ssqJ this leaked picture of the new iPhone seems to go along with this post as the black frame is present along with the moved speaker for which a frontal camera was added.
- sbraidley, on 06/03/2009, -0/+1As this new picture shows http://digg.com/d1ssqJ there is a frontal camera so the speakers moved, also the black frame seems to be real.
- mrBitch, on 05/29/2009, -0/+1Hell yeah! If I am spending $80 then I want REAL bodies, not plastic ones...
- bjs3171, on 05/29/2009, -0/+1why would you upgrade your phone after a year?
- HA5TY, on 05/31/2009, -0/+1Everyone.....get ready for the wave of iPhone stories the next few weeks.
