- scarz99, on 12/24/2008, -2/+67This just in: Paper is now a legitimate source for information.
- emt1451, on 12/24/2008, -11/+69would you people please shut the ***** up with the anti-apple *****? we get it. we're gay, trend-following, steve jobs worshipping morons. please just shut the ***** up.
- RadioFreeOpium, on 12/24/2008, -4/+30This just in: Your mother is now finished cooking the pasta and she wants you to come upstairs and eat with the rest of the family.
- DelMonte, on 12/24/2008, -2/+22Do you get a cut from Paper each time you mention his name on the internet?
- TexasShiv, on 12/24/2008, -2/+16I hope the new iMacs employ some sort of new keyboard layout that employs touch into it. I just don't see myself wanting to touch the screen
- bryson430, on 12/24/2008, -4/+17Just a bump, surely? They only redesigned them 5 minutes ago....
- seiya42, on 12/24/2008, -2/+14Where's the new Mac mini?
- filovirus, on 12/24/2008, -2/+14Mac Pro with Nehalem processors and a bag of hurt please.
- MacParrot, on 12/24/2008, -1/+13So by imitating something that annoys you makes you better? Or just as much an *****?
- peterjmag, on 12/24/2008, -1/+11Paper cut.
- TurboBeard, on 12/24/2008, -5/+14I hope they don't change the design too much, I think they're already perfect. Just replace the mighty mouse and update the internals plz.
- amk29j, on 12/24/2008, -3/+12I'm pretty sure it's going to be a small update, not a complete remake. I like the current iMac design anyway, the next redesign will be either just fall short (iPod Nano 3G) or absolutely stunning. I just can't imagine what they would do next. Touch screen maybe?
- tnoy, on 12/24/2008, -1/+8Big failure on Apple's part if the new iMac is not a Core i7.
- bjstiktrix, on 12/24/2008, -1/+7With new guts and a glass screen. Plus redesigned keyboard/mouse. 'twas Substantial
- Clbull, on 12/24/2008, -2/+8I wouldn't call it a POS, because Mac hardware is well designed, but I'd definitely call it expensive for the specs.
- killeryugi, on 12/24/2008, -3/+9If you think this is interesting, wait 'till you see what paper has on rock and scissors!
- GarryBarker, on 12/24/2008, -9/+14The innovation Apple brings with each generation is truly outstanding, I can't wait to see what they bring to the table!
- codyman, on 12/24/2008, -1/+6you bitch about not watching dell updates but they have God only knows how many models / model revisions + which all update specs quite often... you would need a whole section of digg just for dell updates if that was the case
- Walker2323, on 12/24/2008, -1/+6So wrong, Bejayel, but so funny.
- crazzy88ss, on 12/24/2008, -1/+6I want to digg you up twice!
- thejokker, on 12/24/2008, -1/+5like the ones dell sells? or the HP one that's a touch screen, or the sony one?
nothing against the imac (im using one now), but there are other options out now. - tacojohn48, on 12/24/2008, -0/+4basically in the time frame you need to upgrade a mac, the only thing you have left of your original pc is the ugly beige box.
- mrBitch, on 12/24/2008, -0/+4if the new keyboard includes a track-pad / touch pad, then I will have to seriously look at an iMac for my next PC replacement (have been using a MacBook as my laptop, and the track pad is so good that I only plug a mouse in when running a session of TF2).
- tacojohn48, on 12/24/2008, -0/+4Don't we have a whole apple section? Why not one for each manufacturer? Oh thats right, nobody cares.
- inactive, on 12/24/2008, -0/+4I don't have one (or any Apple product) but I love the iMac concept. I'm hoping for an equivalent machine from a competitor. I'm looking to forward to one Asus model that I saw on digg before, it looked good. Kudos to Apple for that innovative design.
- AngelBunny, on 12/24/2008, -0/+3yah you will feel kind of dumb.
my neighbors want to get a new imac and i told them to hold off till late jan.

- killerofkiller, on 12/24/2008, -0/+3But Paper covers rock
Kiff, we have a conundrum on our hands.. - sorepheet, on 12/24/2008, -1/+4Who would work for an iMac? iMac employee?!?! Fail.
- Takuro, on 12/24/2008, -0/+3How radically do you think they should have redesigned them? That's like saying the Macbooks barely changed in late '08. Besides, if a form-factor works, why reinvent the wheel?
- thetanman, on 12/24/2008, -1/+4I could see them adding a touch pad to the keyboard, or perhaps a standalone one. Multitouch/gestures are great on the laptops, and their mice have always sucked. Maybe new touch mice.
- TVarmy, on 12/24/2008, -0/+3Agreed. We need a high-value, midrange machine that takes the minitower format and does it well. The Mac Mini is cool, but it's hard to upgrade, and most people don't mind the space taken up by a desktop, within reason. The G4 Cube was a bit like that, and I bet if they brought that back with some proper cooling (a few very quiet fans is all it'd need) it would sell really well.
- sdcarter, on 12/24/2008, -0/+3If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The design works well regardless of plastic or metal.
- mrBitch, on 12/24/2008, -0/+2The model that Apple has yet to bring to market is the computer that sits between the iMac and the Mac Pro.
It would be nice if Apple just called it the Mac. - kaaBOOM, on 12/25/2008, -0/+2Then you have never been to an Apple Store.
- rolf, on 12/24/2008, -4/+6Don't forget that Macs are 500x too expensive and that the next PC owner claims they can get 5x the power for $5 by looking at craigslist (and selling their body, well, not the average Digger, but still). And they still complain that Apple doesn't cater to them.
http://www.pcmech.com/article/is-the-mac-overprice ... - zdiggler, on 12/24/2008, -2/+4Quanta also make Acer Notebooks.
And the OLPC. - TVarmy, on 12/24/2008, -0/+2The chipset Nvidia made is actually pretty nice in terms of size/power usage. It offers additional processing for OpenCL because of the built in GPU, which will come in handy for Snow Leopard. It's small, which saves space inside the computer to add more components, and it offers many functions on one chip, including video decoding, which is normally done over the CPU on OSX, simply because before now most consumer Macs had a very slow Intel GPU. However, the most recent laptops have a version of Quicktime that uses the GPU.
Personally, I bet they're going to have a cheap model with just the integrated GPU, and a nicer model which includes a discrete GPU in a Hybrid SLI configuration. - crazzy88ss, on 12/24/2008, -0/+2I got a new macbook, and I LOVE the trackpad. The multitouch is awesome for Aperture. I wish my iMac had it :(
- Pinkertinkle, on 12/24/2008, -1/+3But will it be as awesome as the iLamp? No.
- deepleet, on 12/24/2008, -1/+3But can it run doom?
- SilasTomorrow, on 12/24/2008, -0/+2P-shah! Not in this economy!
Tim Hortons or Dunkin Donuts, with cream & sugar. - tacojohn48, on 12/24/2008, -0/+2maybe they know something we don't.
- SilasTomorrow, on 12/24/2008, -1/+3For the love of Steve, please put in a DECENT graphics card.
Or a Hackintoshing I shall go..... - bjornski, on 12/24/2008, -1/+3So honestly, it's no more "high quality" than Acer or the OLPC.
"Premium quality", my ass. - Nero9171, on 12/24/2008, -2/+4JIZZED IN MY PANTS!!!
Open my window and a breeze rolls in and I... - AngelBunny, on 12/24/2008, -0/+2i thought that was iphone users and the lattes cost $1.40 to $2.20 depending on were you live.
- Seann7656, on 12/24/2008, -2/+4iMac Nano?!
- jasmus, on 12/24/2008, -0/+2It's not an upgrade when you buy a new system. If I had an iMac, and I bought another, I'd have two iMacs, not one upgraded iMac.
If I didn't want to spend the money, I would upgrade the RAM, HDD and processor in my original iMac. That's an upgrade. Maybe I can't upgrade my video card, but maybe I don't care, because "no games on mac lulz", and I don't play games anyway.
It's amazing that people still think of computers as a gaming appliance these days rather than a general purpose tool to get things done. And unbelievably, some people find it easier to do it a different way to others.
I'm currently running vista and osx (hackintosh) on the same hardware. I only use vista for games, and osx for everyday stuff. -
