- maxsunset, on 04/08/2008, -8/+130Why? Why the hell do I keep clicking these links. I know what lies ahead. speculation. apple fanboys. people whining about how they just bought a macbook. apple haters. sigh. its getting so old, and it never amounts to anything...
- Elranzer, on 04/08/2008, -3/+50I still miss the 12" Powerbook
- abtarhar, on 04/08/2008, -9/+45wow, just when i bought a macbook pro.
- TheWorm, on 04/08/2008, -8/+37I doubt it will be too soon. They just introduced upgraded MBPs
- inactive, on 04/08/2008, -6/+28So this article is basically saying that if history repeats itself, the new Macs - whenever they are released - will have a new design. Buried as lame.
- DarkDx, on 04/08/2008, -16/+37I've been wanting to buy a macbook but I really want it to be aluminium and the air is slow for me :( The black looks good but not that much. And you have to get the 1500$ version for that.
- blankoboy, on 04/08/2008, -3/+22That's nice and all but PLEASE announce the new version of Mac Mini's already!
- MacParrot, on 04/08/2008, -0/+15No, that's what wrong with SOME Mac users. I buy Macs and keep them for 3-4 years. Just because some new shiny thing is released doesn't mean my old shiny thing stops working.
- JEWestbrookJR, on 04/08/2008, -1/+12'cause, ya know, only intellectuals like yourself are on digg.
Here's something a little more up your alley http://www.starbucks.com - robbh66, on 04/08/2008, -1/+12You mean how they moved a couple of function keys mapping around but kept the actual keyboard the same as it was when they released it in Feb '06?
That is barely an update... - srg13, on 04/08/2008, -0/+11"I would prefer an LED display,"
It's still an LCD display, just LED backlit. This is an LED display: http://images.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/develo ... - sowdog, on 04/08/2008, -4/+14They were good processors when it came out. Really ahead of anything your x86 prceossors could dish up at the time but they couldnt keep it up. :(
- SteveMax, on 04/08/2008, -2/+11Aluminium reduces the wireless range, though. I hope they have some ideas to improve that, as the current Macbooks a have much better wifi range than the Pros.
- Nyaos, on 04/08/2008, -1/+9As long as it replaces the old ones, I mean in same price and all. I love the aluminum finish on the MacBook Pro and Air, so this will be sweet. Anyone hope they implement that new quad core laptop chip from Intel sometime soon?
- inactive, on 04/08/2008, -1/+9It already does. Stupid.
- reichg, on 04/08/2008, -1/+8whocares about laptops bring me a mid range macpro without a $500 server chip in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- m0tbaillie, on 04/08/2008, -0/+6The P-p-p-powerbook!?
- inactive, on 04/08/2008, -1/+7He didn't buy the first gen though.
- motionblur, on 04/08/2008, -0/+6You must be Leo Laporte.
- stevene, on 04/08/2008, -0/+6Because if you can make it better, you should
- Elranzer, on 04/08/2008, -5/+11Delicious failure
- streetstealth, on 04/08/2008, -1/+7Digg headline from July 6, 2008:
New MacBook Pro case warping and humming noise still not recognized by Apple!
(Meanwhile, you'll be frosty with your totallly-working last-gen MBP that has been perfected over the last two years...) - admdrew, on 04/08/2008, -1/+7Oh come on, you enjoy the collective Macsterbation as much as the rest of us.
- m0tbaillie, on 04/08/2008, -1/+7!!!!!!! just in case you left out any exclamation points, and nobody could tell that you were exclaiming something [stupid].
- Kelmon, on 04/08/2008, -1/+6I wouldn't worry about it - just sell your current model when you are ready to upgrade. Given the general lack of depreciation in a Macs value I'd expect you'll get most of your money back for the new one and in the meantime you've got use out of your new purchase. Don't sweat it.
- SebHughes, on 04/08/2008, -6/+11Ah bollocks, I just got a new MBP yesterday.
- Niightwitch, on 04/08/2008, -1/+6I hope the new Macbooks produce less heat than the current ones do because it fries me when I put it on my lap. I'd hate to think how a stainless steel or aluminum frame would heat up if they don't find a way to make them cooler.
- voisine, on 04/08/2008, -0/+5Everyone says not to buy the first gen of any apple product. I've bought the first gen of every major pro laptop redesign sine the titanium. I've never regretted it. Every one had at least one issue that needed to be fixed, but it was under warrantee and their repair service is always excellent and speedy. Since I always buy right when they release a new design, I never have to worry if they're going to release a new one soon.
- BossKey, on 04/08/2008, -0/+5So did I, just placed an order yesterday, but chances are I'll be happy with what I've got even if they redesign.
My job involves a lot of writing, and I like typing on the classic Aluminum keyboard that Apple's been using for 5 years. I fear they might go to the MacBook-style keys in a redesigned line, since they've done it on the new desktop and MacBook Air keyboards. I don't mind typing on the new keyboards, but I find the MacBook Pro keyboard to be better still.
One thing Apple could do in a Pro notebook redesign is improve the wireless reception, which is currently hobbled by the metal case. Compare the range to a MacBook or any plastic PC and you'll see what I mean. - Raphyy, on 04/08/2008, -0/+5Reading this makes me so sad. I got a macbook pro last month and the week after I got it they came out with the macbook pro with the new trackpad. Now they are coming out with a new one? wtf?
- ralphthemagi, on 04/08/2008, -0/+4You can put an SSD in any MacBook. The 2.5" SATA bay is user-serviceable.
- TheTrueAPlus, on 04/08/2008, -0/+4Well with CS4, that will change....
- MacParrot, on 04/08/2008, -0/+4Actually the best time to buy is right after they come out. Since they only get upgraded one or twice a year, it's a fool's bet on when the next upgrade is after that. I picked up a MBP off the refurb page for under $1500 when the last round hit in January.
- mikedub1219, on 04/08/2008, -0/+4one of the big problems with the MBP cases (im not sure about the macbooks) is that since they wanted it to be so thin, it allows less airflow, and overworks the fans and all the other internal components.
- fabianp, on 04/08/2008, -0/+4What?
- Kelmon, on 04/08/2008, -0/+3Love the idea of SSD but the price is too high and the technology not good enough yet. I'd plan on sticking with HDD for the new couple of years still until it offers useful capacities (I'm out of space with a 160GB drive) and the performance is really worth knowing about.
- atdakore, on 04/10/2008, -0/+314 days return policy for burnt customers. You would have been able to get a replacement new model. Learn the rules.
- HesNikke, on 04/08/2008, -0/+3My thoughts exactly, and then i weighed the facts:
1) I was using an iBook G4, so any intel mac would be MUCH faster.
2) 2.2 Ghz MacBooks are available for $1000 as refurb at the apple store online.
in the end i was able to take this pic: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tallgeek/2397770700/ - jdizzle88, on 04/08/2008, -0/+3LOL Pwned.....
- mGARANDEUR1, on 04/08/2008, -1/+4The metal would conduct heat better which would probably be better for the processor. The heat probably wouldn't gather on the bottom of the laptop, but spread all around it.
- japface, on 04/08/2008, -2/+5"First and foremost will be a complete refresh of the company's desktop computer families, which will include iMac and Mac mini systems"
from the article. - luchid, on 04/08/2008, -0/+3Me too. It would be awesome if they tried a new material for it, though.
- nshady, on 04/08/2008, -0/+3I have one. I had just decided to upgrade to the new MBP when I read this story today.
*****. Now do I wait for the new models in July or just bite the bullet and face ending up with a superseded model in three months? - digitalpencil, on 04/08/2008, -0/+3* therefore
- CopyNinja, on 04/08/2008, -1/+4How about a $750-$1100 desktop computer that offers a full size or mid-tower case, PCI-e and the ability to swap out hardware and upgrade the processor?
- Fallooza, on 04/08/2008, -0/+3NEVAR!
- SebHughes, on 04/08/2008, -0/+3If they do bring one out I will be somewhat upset but either way I'm really happy with it. I also got an iMac in Jan. These days you buy something the next day it is old.
- fuzzlog, on 04/08/2008, -1/+4Care to expand on the "more wisely" part of your comment? So far, you can do more on a mac if you take into account that you can now run any OS between Windows, Linux and OSX on the machine. It would be a waste of money if all you did was getting email and sufing the net. And that would be true for any BRANDS of computers.
- marshaiiness, on 04/08/2008, -0/+2As soon as I get my mac they come out with new ones, this always happens to me, the new product sounds good though
- weizilla, on 04/08/2008, -1/+3i thought the black wouldn't be as good as an aluminum one but after getting a black macbook a month ago, i absolutely love how it looks. I think I'd even pick it over an aluminum one if they both look exactly the same except for material and color.
