- joeycerone, on 12/02/2007, -6/+242VLC is the only thing that can play all the porn i download.
- iPissExcellence, on 12/02/2007, -1/+76yeah, even if files are nothing but a zip-file containing german xxx links, VLC summons up a 70's classic in full HD.
- vault, on 12/02/2007, -37/+103I only use VLC when Quicktime + perian can't play something which is rare these days.
- DarkDx, on 12/02/2007, -4/+68Screenshots?
- miccet, on 12/02/2007, -2/+51I really don't see what's so exciting... what did I miss?
Here are some screens for the "Leopardless".

http://www.miccet.nl/Open/vlc_fullscreen.png - thenumber8, on 12/02/2007, -5/+54people are still using 10.3.9?
- sambapati87, on 12/02/2007, -1/+47VLC isn't a codec
- ecappabianca, on 12/02/2007, -10/+50Will you be able to use the apple remote with this updated version?
- Rikushix, on 12/02/2007, -4/+42I love VLC - one thing I've been impressed by is that as your downloading files, you can play them simultaneously (basically streaming). On DC++ I could download an .avi file for a few seconds, and as long as the download rate is greater in ratio to the rate of watching the movie (24 fps), then I can start watching right then and there.
- LeonardNimrod, on 12/02/2007, -4/+41I'm not sure why you are getting voted down. VLC was great before codecs for Matroski,, 3viD/Xvid and others were easily found. Perian has made it even simpler.
- cumic, on 12/02/2007, -0/+35Yes, VLC now uses all the Apple Remote's buttons. Menu is used for going fullscreen, and the rest... you can imagine their functions ;)
- negativefx, on 12/02/2007, -5/+38how can many of user have understand you?
- terracottapai, on 12/02/2007, -2/+31Eh,
It definitely seems faster at least, but the transition to and from full screen is nothing impressive.
It just fades out then back in.
In fact, if anyone knows how to turn it off that would be great. - BlaenkDenum, on 12/02/2007, -0/+23You mean to the bitrate, because how can you compare download rate with frames per second.
- inactive, on 12/02/2007, -1/+21VLC can also be used to send a stream out from a back-end home entertainment box. I'll be building one *someday*.
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/streaming.html - darkNiGHTS, on 12/02/2007, -14/+33That's Mac user logic right there!
- Spuy767, on 12/02/2007, -2/+19I hate that *****, What is the ***** point of making a torrent file of fifty-six rar files. It's redundant to the features of bit torrent itself.
- terracottapai, on 12/02/2007, -0/+15Looks like the skin is minimally different, so what's so impressive?
Thanks for the screens, though. - GuyHersh, on 12/02/2007, -0/+15How come the OS X version of VLC has the nice full screen control OSD, while in Windows you have to move your cursor to the edge of the screen to bring up the VLC window (which is ugly) to control the video? Is there an option i'm missing or a plugin i can install?
- macbwizard, on 12/02/2007, -2/+16I've flown from one side of this galaxy to the other, I've seen a lot of strange stuff, but I've never seen anything to make me believe there's one all-powerful force controlling everything. There's no mystical energy field controls my destiny.
- joeycerone, on 12/02/2007, -3/+17just to clarify, i do have a girlfriend, and we watch porn together.
*****. - tastyterrorist, on 12/02/2007, -6/+19Screen: http://localhostr.com/files/88569576b45eed46c50f.p ...
- darkNiGHTS, on 12/02/2007, -3/+16Here's a screenshot of VLC in fullscreen on a mac.
http://download.videolan.org/vlc/screenshots/0.8.6 ... - Me1000, on 12/02/2007, -0/+12if your mac was made in the last 10 years it will run Tiger!
- DaffyDuck, on 12/02/2007, -0/+11Or just stick with the older version of vlc.
- skyshock1, on 12/02/2007, -1/+120.8.6c looks exactly the same in fullscreen mode. And it's been out for a while.
- sneeka2, on 12/02/2007, -1/+12Oh yeah, THAT site! By that guy who was in that movie with that other guy.
- rowmz, on 12/02/2007, -0/+11except for the fact that we're talking about macs here.
Something similar to k-lite for quicktime for OSX is Perian: http://perian.org/ - Karmavs, on 12/02/2007, -1/+12No it doesn't. just look at the main wndow: http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/8273/picture2ew ...
- greatcaffeine, on 12/02/2007, -3/+13Consider updating your OS. If you can't run Tiger or Leopard... consider purchasing a new computer in the near future.
- LeonardNimrod, on 12/02/2007, -0/+10It's purely a preference, but I like QuickTime's interface and FF feature better than VLC's. I do five VLC props for having some very powerful tools and options built in, but I have never used them.
We should all be glad that we have several good option to choose from. - darkjedi_66, on 12/02/2007, -3/+13um..thats nothing special really..
- eliah, on 12/02/2007, -1/+11Agreed. I liked the instant fullscreen switch.
- GawtMilk, on 12/02/2007, -0/+924 fps at 160 x 90 isn't the same amount of data as 24 fps at 1920 x 1080. It's not a "well-defined rate", but with bitrate 400kbs at 160 x 90 is the same amount of data as 400kbs at 1920 x 1080.
- wwwluckyro, on 12/02/2007, -0/+9the feature is only for OS X :D
- niklastj, on 12/02/2007, -3/+11Yeah, I remember that from back in the day. Now everything is compressed to .rar-archives.
- Steeple, on 12/02/2007, -0/+8the most impressive feature of VLC is it lets you play any DVDs from any region, though i don't use the feature so much now, it's nice to have
- Laughto, on 12/02/2007, -1/+9Have they updated the icon? I always find it so jarring and what does it have to do with videos anyway?
- recoilfx, on 12/02/2007, -1/+9perian has horrible MKV support. It needs to reconstruct the index before the video is fully seekable.... it's also dog slow for mkv... but i use it for everything else
- aviazn, on 12/02/2007, -2/+10It's a QuickTime component that supports very nearly every format that VLC does; plus being QuickTime, it lets you use them system wide, including in Front Row. It doesn't have the versatility or power of VLC, but if you just want to play video files, Perian works fine.
http://perian.org/ - inactive, on 12/02/2007, -0/+8500% crop on a money shot.
- TheRealPod, on 12/02/2007, -0/+7ummmmm..... WMP11 needs a VLC skin, not the other way around.
- Nahor, on 12/02/2007, -4/+11because windows is ugly
- Laughto, on 12/02/2007, -0/+7I think it's there to allow for a playlist. But seriously does anyone put videos in a playlist?
- terracottapai, on 12/02/2007, -0/+6I already mentioned above that I thought the transition was lame.
Not that I expected you to have seen it, just reaffirming it.
I multi-task constantly, so it's nice to be able to switch in and out without transitions.
Also, when I send it to fullscreen, I'm, you know, watching the video. All the fade does is make the video go away and come back.
Do not want. - terracottapai, on 12/02/2007, -0/+6Why?
Took about 10 seconds to download on crappy Wi-Fi for me. - crazybrit, on 12/02/2007, -1/+7What the ***** people, stop spamming other players.
- DaffyDuck, on 12/02/2007, -0/+6Uh, this is about VLC on OS X, not Windows.
- guise, on 12/02/2007, -1/+7Looks good, but perian + frontrow is still the winner for me
- scogoth, on 12/02/2007, -0/+6"Leopard"
