- dfbills, on 08/07/2008, -0/+21You have heard of 3G, right?
- inyearstocome, on 08/07/2008, -0/+6That article took WAAY too many words to explain STREAMING content. About time this is being implemented.
- Aitese, on 08/08/2008, -0/+6I'm outside the US...I have unlimited data.
- supermanred, on 08/08/2008, -0/+4Winamp Remote has been on your celphone for years? You sir are either clueless about what your're commenting on, or you are basically a liar.
- pyrates, on 08/07/2008, -1/+5My guess is that Apple will leverage back to my mac in order to make this as easy as possible.
- speakafreaka, on 08/07/2008, -0/+4Not really.. you can share your itunes library at the moment with anyone on the network.
As long as you can listen without savinging the stream the RIAA might be ok with it..
wait who am I kidding.. they'll probably charge you by the second to listen to your own music - PainToad, on 08/07/2008, -1/+5I love when Apple apply to patent something that's been around for yonks...aka Orb. I know Apple will make it far more user friendly but still.
- adairnic, on 08/07/2008, -0/+4USB 2.0 is slow enough, no need to make it slower. Wifi would be bad, Bluetooth would be unbearable.
- justinp, on 08/07/2008, -0/+4iTunes
iPhone - jayyoung, on 08/07/2008, -0/+4I was thinking Star Wars...
- sotarts, on 08/08/2008, -0/+4why comment if you don't give a *****?
- m3mn0n, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3The girl who found out who stole her Mac because of Back to my Mac certainly would disagree with the notion that it "doesn't work."
http://digg.com/apple/Stolen_MacBook_Victim_Uses_i ... - bburdick, on 08/07/2008, -0/+3Get with the program... I've been doing this for a week now. How can you patent something that already exists? My guess is these guys submitted their app to the apple appstore and Apple decided to patent it instead of approve it. http://www.simplifymedia.com/blog/
- JCPicache, on 08/07/2008, -3/+5good luck getting winamp remote on your cellphone.
- inactive, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2Nokia
- njren78, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2I think he meant wireless sync while on the same network. If that was the case, that bandwidth is free.
That's what we've all been asking Apple to implement for a while now. There is no reason, especially with the iPhone's and iPod Touch's WiFi capabilities, that we should not be able to come home from work, hit a sync icon on our device, and have it sync to our computer running iTunes. - znicket, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2When traveling I often find myself wanting new Podcast content - this would solve my problem.
- angrycat, on 08/07/2008, -3/+5Wireless sync first DAMMIT
- m3mn0n, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2***** THE RIAA
- fahrvergnuugen, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2Have you seen the 3g coverage map? Every fly in an airplane? Ever try to use the iPhone's Pandora radio while driving??
- billbugger, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2He probably abbreviated Software to make the title fit. There is a limit on characters for the title of the articles.
- supermanred, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2Works fine on my home network.
- supermanred, on 08/08/2008, -1/+2Dude, the iPhone is a cellphone. You would have streaming anywhere there is cel coverage. It would have to be low bitrate for edge network, but if you are on 3g (like I am at work sometimes) you can stream almost any internet radio station.
This is a cool addon. - njren78, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1Well, that's the way patents work. It doesn't matter whether or not something has been around for years. What matters is who patents it first.
- xeslana, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1It is not anything new but with the iPhone 3G it makes it much more practical. Only problem is AT&T will never allow that much bandwidth over its network.
- ultrafez, on 08/08/2008, -1/+2Firmware as FW is understandable, but SW... just, no.
- Rkstar, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1I've been doing it for months with SimplifyMedia :) The guy Bill Bradford who runs it is great. Whenever I had a problem, he was eager to help get it working.
- mstrebe, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1Wow, they've re-invented stub files/shortcuts/aliases/symlinks/pointers for the fifteen billionth time. PATENT!
- donna1234, on 11/24/2008, -0/+1A new version of Apple's iPhone Software
http://www.bestipodtips.info/
http://www.webthe.info/ - DonkeyTime, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1I do this with Hamachi.
- supermanred, on 08/12/2008, -0/+1Dude, if you're somewhere where there is NO cel coverage, then turn your ***** iPod off and go fishing... seriously.
- fahrvergnuugen, on 08/08/2008, -1/+2The people digging me down need to try the Pandora's iPhone radio app while driving around and then get back to me.
- Whitey07, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1It will be slow to stream some songs.. lol RIAA.
- njren78, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1If everyone approached obstacles with the attitude you have, there would be zero progress in this world. Simply because DRM advocates will position themselves against something...that's no reason to abandon the idea entirely. The fact is, this is something that Apple can pull off with a little reconfiguring of their current technology, so it makes sense that this would be the next likely move.
- puzzud, on 08/10/2008, -0/+1First time I've ever see anyone required to abbreviate software with SW. Title should have been:
New SW would let IP access IT libraries AW - slugicide, on 08/08/2008, -1/+1The same people who write FireFox.
- Aitese, on 08/08/2008, -1/+1So basically having no knowledge of a product is now grounds for bashing it? Amazing. I've been remotely accessing my entire music library on my phone using Winamp's Orb service for a long time.
- jhnsnp, on 08/07/2008, -2/+2Southwest?
SneakyWeasel? - michaelz92, on 08/08/2008, -1/+1Bandwidth isn't free.
- njren78, on 08/11/2008, -1/+1I've seen it abbreviated as SW before. I knew what the submitter was saying.
- supermanred, on 08/12/2008, -1/+1No, basically Orb but works with iTunes and works easily and properly without being a hog on your entire system.
I used to use Winamp. It's a ***** Hog. - supermanred, on 08/08/2008, -2/+2Which phone had that in the early 90s? Roll another spliff, dude.
- fahrvergnuugen, on 08/08/2008, -1/+1"You would have streaming anywhere there is cel coverage."
Thanks for making my point for me. - neodorian, on 08/08/2008, -1/+1So basically Orb but with more trying to get you to buy crap from their store.
- gresmi, on 08/07/2008, -2/+1Obviously pyrates is one of the blessed few who has ever gotten back to my mac working!
- inactive, on 08/07/2008, -3/+2How about wireless sync via bluetooth, or wireless (sync everything) not just music. Seriously we had this technology in the early 90s
- gmrsricardo, on 08/07/2008, -2/+1i tought this was implemented since the first iphone.. WTF apple.
- schlef, on 08/07/2008, -2/+1This is basic client/server architecture... how is this patentable?
- supermanred, on 08/12/2008, -2/+1You Apple haters are getting desperate. So you are telling me on your ***** Nokia phone you can play any song that is on your home computer when you are half way across town?
Give me a break, hater. -
