- Iwantawii, on 10/10/2007, -8/+77"Finder windows can also be set to always show the path of a file with the new "Show Path Bar" option."
Leopard has arrived! - NerdyNinja, on 10/10/2007, -5/+39Seems like mostly aesthetic improvements, although to be fair, the dock separator is nifty.
I have little need for Time Machine and most of the other features, but I'm looking forward to Spaces, a better mail app, and hopefully more optimization for multi-core machines. If it doesn't run as fast or faster than Tiger, I wont be buying it. - Ireland, on 10/10/2007, -1/+33Silly people, OS X has had translucency for years, they've just always used it subtly.
- cmer, on 10/10/2007, -7/+36If only we could cut and paste files in the Finder (like in Windows)...
- allyant, on 10/10/2007, -3/+27Since when has showing the directory path been a windows only thing?
- daGUY, on 10/10/2007, -4/+24Glad they brought back the separator in the dock - I noticed that was gone in the earlier builds. I'm not sure I like it, though...
The other changes are welcome additions. The menu extras look 100% better now against the transparent menu bar, and I like the "show path bar" option (I never understood why in Tiger it was restricted only to searches. It's plenty useful in other views). - cyclox, on 10/10/2007, -6/+26not one picture of a leopard. buried as inaccurate.
- drcreek, on 10/10/2007, -1/+189A466 is not stable but is faster than tiger. Hopefully this version is more stable.
- hotdamn, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17Way faster. I am disgusted to be back on 10.4
- outzider, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18iCal and iChat have new looks as well. iCal's little calendar view looks like it came straight from the iPhone. Very sharp looking.
- Bamborzled, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16In fact, Apple actually had transparent titlebars in OS X 10.2 (and lower), but they dropped it because they felt it interfered with usability:

- nhinsch, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14October.
- theanticrust, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13I really wish they get rid of the translucent menubar. You would think in terms of hierarchy that the menubar would be the highest so making it translucent instead of opaque would be counter productive.
I'm kind of disappointed that some of the eye candy is potentially decreasing the functionality. Where are the UI experts on this? - allyant, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14Sorry for double post, the "new" digg comment system is STILL crap.
- tech10171968, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13I have always been, and always will be, a diehard Linux fanboy. But even I will admit that when it comes to design and just plain GUI goodness, Apple just flat out kicks EVERYBODY'S asses, game over.
- meatmcguffin, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12You know that OS X had transparency in it's window bars for a long, long time before Vista.
The difference is that apple phased it out from the 10.0 beta onwards and completely removed it from around 10.2 as it they found it was bad for usability, right around the same time MS started phasing it in to be used in their Longhorn/Vista betas. - jkgm, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12You can COPY and paste files in the Finder, but you can't CUT and paste.
- acidity, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10I would double that. This is definitely one thing i miss.
- macdaddy23, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12Oh and I suppose you think Windows is the best operating system ever!?
- hotdamn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Haha some guy on MacRumors called it "Abbey Road". Fantastic!
- thcobbs, on 10/10/2007, -6/+15Everyone has "borrowed" from everyone else. The only people who deny it are true iFanboys.
- victorycig, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11Disgusted, eh? That's a pretty strong emotional response...
- rebelyell2k5, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8ew look at that iTunes window,
damnnn - whiteyMcBrown, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Actually, I'd say that your active window is your highest in the hierarchy. I tried out shapeshifter to see a see-though menu bar and I have to say that I like it more.
- MuckSavage76, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Excellent summary! Very in depth!
- kjm2664, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8You are always free to change it.
- jake57, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Like this: http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/6623/picture6jt3.png
- Vermifax, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Right now? The most mediocre and mundane OS in existence - Windows.
Mediocrity will always outsell genius in the American marketplace. - parsap, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8This has been in Mac OS since the beginning. It is not going to change. Here's a tip though, you can open files using cmd-down arrow, which is much faster than even Enter, because if you are not browsing with the mouse, you are typically browsing your files using the arrow keys.
- folletto, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Cmd+down is a little faster than enter if I'm already using the keyboard.
Also, using enter to rename makes faster any rename operation. Very useful. :) - DaffyDuck, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7A cursory look at the Apple upcoming articles section will disprove this. You'll find tons with only 1 or 2 diggs.
- TomKarpik, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8You don't know what you're talking about. A "cut" file never just disappears in Windows if you put something else in the Clipboard.
- Amoeba16, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Okay, the dock looks cool but I'm one of those freaky dock-on-the-side instead of dock-on-the-bottom guys. How would the reflections eye candy work with that orientation?
Stevie better not be sussing to take back my side-dockability. I'll eat his babies. - Terc, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7well, although his comment was completely and utterly worthless, you shouldn't be looking for summaries in the comments. Comments are supposed to be a place where people discuss relevant and interesting information about the story.
- spiffyfitz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6It's on the front page because Digg's user base dugg it up to get there. Bury it if you don't like it, that's the democracy of Digg.
- takamalak, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Do you know how to read? Or are your abilities restricted to writing inane gibberish?
http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/features/

http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/developer/ - spiffyfitz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5How do the icons take up more space? And have you read anything about how the entire system runs fluidly on 64-bit processors and 32-bit processors, and works seamlessly throughout 64/32-bit apps?
- ThankTheCheese, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5IMO it was those damn horizontal lines that got in the way of usability in 10.2
- alefox, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6my question, does backdrop work? i've tried it on my mac mini (intel) and it crashes everytime I try
- winnch, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5So you're both glad they brought it back, but you don't like it. Gotcha.
- rebelyell2k5, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5OHHHH so that's how you tell if an operating system is any good: by the percentage of computer users running it. I get it now, thank-you.
- jonasf, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I tend agree with you. However FTP should have disappeared long ago as it is actually a very bad file transfer protocol (on every point). Instead of trying to get FTP support, you should complain to whatever service provider that does not propose an alternative to this retarded, insecure protocol. Then yell at Apple to support SFTP, read-write.
- bwishey, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Side docker alert! *hiss?*
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I just hope they let you adjust the transparency level of the menu bar. And besides little weirdities with the dock, it still amazes me how incredible Apple's UI people are, I don't see how everyone else manages to pale in comparison.
- coldfusion1970, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I just use the free Cyberduck (check MacUpdate).
Works lovely. Problem solved. - edstate, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8What's the latest on "when"?
- rebelyell2k5, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Yes, they can change it, and they did.
Everything okay little buddy? - Wander, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4So where's the torrent?
- Takuro, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Oh... since they're reporting on another news site's' story and summarizing it without any pics, they muuuust be more accurate.
Wtf. -
