Thank you for following this wild monkey chase. Hubert has received a gift from the people at MacHeist to give out to those who made it this far. Click him one final time to download a totally free copy of the excellent Sillysoft game, American History Lux (normally $15), and enjoy!
And if you're wondering who Hubert is, you're out of luck for now. We can't talk about it.
http://whoishubert.com/donttouchme/ - drlha, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18There's no evidence that Hubert is in any way related to Bonzi Buddy.

Rule #2–keep your enemies close, and the word enemies links back to www.mydreamapp.com. This is from the creators of mydreamapp yet the are calling themselves the enemy? - meatmcguffin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11No. You don't care, but then we don't care what you think.
Every mac user interested in this just got a free $15 game and will probably get quite a few free apps over the course of the mystery.
Sod off - karthiksetty, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I am not 'friends' with 'those people' or 'digg'. Wish I were! I posted this story coz it was interesting and I recently switched to a mac!
- l0ne, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Solved already. It IS from MacHeist. If you get to the bottom of it, you also get a nice free Risiko-style Mac game (fully functional and unlimited).
- meatmcguffin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5No malware here. It's connected somehow to the macheist.com mystery game which in turn is connected to mydreamapp which in turn is connected to the cream of the crop of mac devs and several ex-members of Apple.
It's legit. - meatmcguffin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Except it's not a product, it's not something you can buy and it's not made by Apple
Thanks for playing. - phantom_mullet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4check all the other comments first before asking questions that have already been answered
- fleischner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Ever notice that Unsanity calls its primary software -- Application Enhancer -- "APE"? A connection perhaps?
- phantom_mullet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I signed up for MacHeist when I first heard about it and was invited to join. Here's what they say on the MacHeist site for those who have already joined:
Welcome Heisters!
As we get this event rolling, we've prepared a little freebie for you guys. We're giving you Sillysoft's American History Lux (normally $15) for free, and in fact, this is one freebie the public will have access to as well.
But while the rest of the Mac community is participating in a wild monkey chase through the Mac web to track down this free download, you guys can access it immediately by clicking here.
If you'd like to witness the chase, perhaps even help out with some clues, it starts with this TUAW post speculating on who Hubert is. (And from there, jumps through 12 sites with Hubert hidden in their pages.)
And of course, you'll be receiving your own exclusive heist and software prize (members only) over the next few days. - zodieman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Some kind of viral marketing thing for Mac users. We'll see what pans out in the next little while...
- nbx909, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3somebody should create a wikipedia page about this and include the list of links http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Whoishubert&action=edit
- koick, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Wouldn't it be great if it was no product at all -- the ultimate in vaporware? All the hype, then then the joke would be on us.
- abyssknight, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Anyone think these companies all have an item in the final bundle?
Seems logical to me. - synystar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1...

- cleverboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yep, seems like a fun ride of the crazy train from here. For all those people with lots of free time to click around in circles.
- cannibaljp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i care.
- steal_apps01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hey, I got in to MacHeist just got the email and signed up.
Now I know there just trying to sell me something but I don't have a credit card. - karthiksetty, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3I am sure there is a lot more to come from MacHeist! Cant wait!
- thunderer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1And its addicting.
- rampancy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1If anyone wants to know more about what they're giving away, a good review for it can be found here:

The only negative is that there's no multiplayer. But you definitely can't look a gift horse in the mouth; and you get to fight notable wars in history as the USA, which might be a negative or a positive point, depending on your poitical or ideological views... :) - DPowers08, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Well Mac users wouldn't have that problem.
- uownedge, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1That was one of my first thoughts. Could be a collective effort to draw some attention to their new apps. So far, it seems to be working fairly well ;)
- TyrannousDotNet, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1no its mydream apps, because they just got a free preview via contest of the latest and greatest apps , what they are up against...? maybe?
- iAlex, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I have signed up, 3 times, and not got an invitation email :(!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1http://creativebits.org/hubert it is spreading...
- karthiksetty, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1lucky you! I am still waiting for my invite!
- goat2, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3if this were related to any other company, you wouldnt be defending it
- DidntYouHear, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5http://digg.com/apple/Hubert_is_a_mystery_Mac_icon
- xsuite, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3what happened to the other thread like this?
- Derfus, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2nobody cares
- DJC1983, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Would anyone maybe post the final link to this free thing here please? I keep clicking monkeys but I go nowhere :(
- shadownight, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2I can't wait to receive my invite...
- mcflynnthm, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Wasn't this ***** already buried this morning, and for good reason?
- activesport2002, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Interesting, I like watching where people's minds and creativity take them.
- FunkyWitDaSysTm, on 10/12/2007, -10/+7ooo! a rumor about a rumor about something that's related to apple! i just peed my pants a little...
/sarcasm - dbr_onix, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Why not? OS X is NOT invulnerable to spyware and viruses. If you put in your admin password, or have a password less admin account, it's totally possible to get such crapware, on any platform (Although you'd be hard pressed to find DOS spyware, it can exist)
- Ben - vertinox, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1@ohstoopid1
I actually played that demo of that game, but I kind of suspect this is some type of malware thing.
Anyone know more about this? - Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -12/+3Yeah I wonder if this Bonzai Buddy has the smoke effect from that DVD Burning app, that would totally make this uber-macerific.
- haooken, on 10/12/2007, -12/+1http://www.cabalamat.org/weblog/Announcing_the_Apple_iProduct.gif
- Derfus, on 10/12/2007, -13/+2nobody cares! i know these people are friends with digg and they always end up on the front page for queefing, but seriously nobody cares
- Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -23/+7Why is my statement being dugg down? I figured all you mac fanboys out there would go bonkers for your own Bonzai Buddy Widget. Am I wrong? What if it had special graphic effects like smoke when burning dvds?
- goat2, on 10/12/2007, -20/+1nice bonzi buddy, welcome to uh 1999
