- coltrane68, on 11/29/2007, -5/+10This feature would be a great addition to the iPhone feature set, which is rapidly becoming boring in the absence of 3rd party applications. Last night, my wife asked me which games I could play on my iPhone. I thought about it - maybe I could pretend to own some volatile stock and watch the graph go up and down. Or perhaps I could follow the weather in Tierra del Fuego? Please Apple - new apps!!!
- Mudcrutch, on 11/29/2007, -5/+9Please post pics of your wife so I can confirm she will make my graph go up.
- z0zin, on 11/29/2007, -1/+3If you think about it using Google Maps would be more useful than just using GPS, mainly because Street View. Figure out how to get to a location and what the location looks like.
- victorycig, on 11/29/2007, -0/+8To be clear, this app is not supported on the iPhone. FTA:
"Still, Apple has promised to continuously update and improve upon the feature set of its inaugural mobile handset, making it more than likely that the feature will turn up once it emerges from the beta stage."
That's a big claim. There's no guarantee this feature will ever make it out of beta (Gmail is *still* beta, and they're already working on Gmail 2.0), and even if it does make it out of beta, it's a completely different application from the iPhone's Google Maps app. Who knows if these apps were even created by the same dev team? - thetanbark, on 11/29/2007, -0/+7This feature works on quite a few phones without GPS, not including the iPhone.

- mattguy, on 11/29/2007, -2/+4OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It works on the iPhone!!!!!!!!!!! Hurry everyone digg this article because it has the word iPhone in it!
Seriously though, why does every little article make the front page that has the word apple or iPhone in it? I installed the latest Google Maps yesterday which includes this GPS functionality on my Blackberry 8300 (Curve). It works great! In fact the furthest its been off on my location was a block or two.
PS - RIM Blackberry's stomp the iPhone into the ground. - HCJfilms, on 11/29/2007, -1/+1"Your current location is temporarily unavailable"
- shdwsclan, on 11/29/2007, -1/+0Key works = SIMULATE
Its still no match for a SIRFstar - ianbirtwistle, on 11/29/2007, -1/+2New Google Maps feature could simulate GPS on iPhones - minus the i from Phones and you'd have a decent title.
