- pplante, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Great, I have been waiting for this.
I recently switched from a PPC machine to an Intel and I haven't been able to play WMV files ever since.- elliann, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Me as well. I used the option to suck my apps and data from my PPC desktop to my Intel Mac, and, of course, it pulled an installed flip4mac PPC version over too. My web browser hasn't been the site because of the plugin snafu.
Between first using the flip4mac uninstall, and then Installing windows media player it's almost working. Still certain sites (like fifa, damn you) won't play video.

- macgabriel87, on 10/12/2007, -15/+1why just 24 hours? hey is the text in my comment box so small? did kevin fu*k with it again?
- wastern, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3because they didn't want it to get out like it's going to be out now. its still semi private, they probably just didn't want to release the update as an email attachment like they did the first beta. thats a lot of bandwidth
- trogdoor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Here is a mirror that is FAST ( it's oogle ) and wont go down ( I won't delete it and agian it's Google )

- jmain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5This Beta seems a little smoother running the the closed beta version from a few weeks back.
- mastercheif, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yea! On the old one, whenever I viewed a WMV in safari, it would crash. Now it works great! Thanks!
- shiv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5here it is http://www.flip4mac.com/downloads/beta/wmv/Flip4Mac%20WMV%20v2_1_0_29.dmg
- trogdoor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6And here is a mirror: http://trogdoor.googlepages.com/Flip4MacWMVv2_1_0_29.dmg
- MacGuyver, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2They have changed the DL link twice
- madmac625, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0Still gives me an error that I'm not running Quicktime 6.5.1 or later...
- Jeffrey903, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This is definately better than the first private beta. Some of my WMV videos were very choppy with that old one, but they play smoothly with this new beta. Definite thumbs up!
- madmac625, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Still gives me an error that I'm not running Quicktime 6.5.1 or later, like the last version I tried.
- RomeyRome, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Copy package to HD. Right click > show package contents
Go to Contents > double-click Info.plist

- RomeyRome, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Copy package to HD. Right click > show package contents
- davdav, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Finally
- wastern, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2huh? if you asked flip4mac for it you could've had it a month or so ago
- FetalSage, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Awesome, I'll try it out later!
- goldstarqc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Now we can watch WMV on our Intel Mac :D
- madmac625, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Does anyone have the problem while running Quicktime 7.1.1? The installer keeps giving me an error about needing Quicktime 6.5.1 or later even though I have 7..
- wastern, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1no problems here, although i was updating from the first beta release.
everyone on intel has 7 or higher, there should be no reason for that - luxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Mine has worked fine with Quicktime 7.1.1 but I did update from the version one beta also. They have also made mention of a conflict with popwire which was causing crashes with the first beta. To uninstall popwire you need to pull two files from the Library/Quicktime folder.
- wastern, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1no problems here, although i was updating from the first beta release.
- Manwe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Can you play DRM'd windows media files with it?
- infectbda, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8No, it doesn't support DRM files. Blame MS for that.
- EPeters, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1But you can watch .WMV porn now. Rejoice!!
- theporchmonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1awesome piece of software, I didnt know this even exisited!
- cyphin6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Man I have been waiting for this for quite some time since I bought my MBP, I never knew how important a WMV Codec was until I had Mac OS X
- benggg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1same here, I thought nothing of it, and when I got my MBP I was in shock I couldn't play an streaming videos
- defectDS, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6There is more to this Beta than just a Universal Binary:
• Added universal binary support for Intel Macs
• Added playback optimizations for Intel Macs
• Added significant export optimizations for PowerPC Macs
• Added multi language audio support in player
• Added overlay when importing WMV content in trial mode
• Added support for web authors to disable "save as" feature in embedded stream
• Improved support for MMS servers and live streams
• Fixed DCT Blocking issue (progressive deterioration with increasing distance from previous keyframe)
• Fixed encode errors when the audio bit rate is set higher than the video bit rate.
Not yet added (planned for final release)
• Fix 2-pass VBR green shift issue
• Updated User Guide - poetic_folly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2FINALLY!!!! I can watch Triumph the Comic Insult Dog at the Star Wars convention on my Mac... oh I have waited for this day.
- Arkitan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I love flip4mac, I don't have a single video that doesn't work in Frontrow now.
- easy4lif, on 10/21/2007, -0/+12nice work flip4mac crew. my wmv porn runs great now on my macbook
Hey, at least Im honest!- alc0h0lic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3same here, whahahaha ;)
- itsthinking, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Where is a working link? None of these work.
- twid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This version still (compared to the last beta) chokes on high-resolution WMV content. Funnily enough, the same files play fine on Windows XP running on the same machine through Parallels. Hopefully they will optimize it a little more before release. Otherwise it's great!
- jbus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3About F&*@!$# time... They took so long because they were probably trying to make Flip4Mac run as slow and inefficient as possible so they can claim WMV decodes better in Windows.
- trunkster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks! No more running quicktime in rosetta.
- NeoRicen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hey this one actually works!
The other one someone posted a while back simply didn't work, now I can play WMVs. Dugg. - thephotoman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Finally. I can watch CNN on my MacBook. Now, if only July 1 would come so that I can get the Intel version of NeoOffice, I'll be set.
- PathDaemon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2July 1? My birthday!
/puts hands to the air/ - EPeters, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"/Puts hands to the air/"
Is it alright that I don't care.
- PathDaemon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2July 1? My birthday!
- drn666, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Seems to work great - much better than the close beta.
My MacBook Pro is still not quite as smooth as my Dual 1.8 G5 - but it's getting better. - gailwin, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2THANK YOU DIGG FOR TELLING MY ABOUT THIS
now i can enjoy my porn without stupid WMP not recognizing the video
lol i hate WMP - microbreak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The last universal binary beta that they had allowed users to encode in wmv, does this new version still allow this or is that functionality taken away?
- johnjohnson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Anyone tried this on HD Videos? The last beta version run at about 2-5 fps on my 2GHz Core Duo MBP. As they've added playback optimizations for Intel Macs I wonder if I'll be able to play those videos right now.
Can't try it by myself because I have to wait until evening. kthx. - chmcarro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yes, its great that there is now a plugin for quicktime, but the stand alone WMP for mac or VLC seemed to work just fine for me.
- wastern, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1not for wmv files. VLC only plays really old versions that no one uses, and WMP was not universal so wouldn't allow for a browser plugin unless you opened safari with rosetta slowing it down considerably
- christianw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this works great thanks for the heads up
- awoodhouse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1does this work with camino or only safari?
- awoodhouse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1doh! it appears as a plugin so I assume it does ignore last comment. (can comments be deleted) :(
- Duke218, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I cant get the mirror to go through, the image wont mount.
