- streak, on 10/10/2007, -6/+103forgit the jump. i am so sick of people wonking about their jumps.
- FoolishMortal, on 10/10/2007, -7/+61I really, really hate the phrase "hit the jump". What the hell is it supposed to mean, and why has it infected the internets?
Anyone with me on this or am I crazy? - bSimms, on 10/10/2007, -5/+40I would keep hitting F9 for expose and get really pissed when it didn't work.
- ClOlD, on 10/10/2007, -6/+39Dear Apple:
Why mess with perfection?
http://www.tamabi.ac.jp/mc/collect/take03/key_gs.jpg - rcran, on 10/10/2007, -5/+30Wtf is a jump, anyway.
- iamexcite, on 10/10/2007, -3/+24can't help you on the first two, but a "jump" is essentially space for ads:

Witty comment.on video - Ireland, on 10/10/2007, -7/+25Imagine these things in all the colors of nanos and shuffles with new sleek, aluminum, colored iMacs to go along nicely with them, and the black iMac could come with a black version of this keyboard. That would rock!!
It would fit in perfectly with the design of their new aluminum products like the iPhone, the shuffles, the nanos, and the soon to be - video iPods. Bring the colors back I say. And Oh yeah, I love the new style and I think it's real, and I totally agree with all the people saying this would be way easier to keep clean. I think the old keyboard is not bad, but it's not something I'd imagine liking as much as this thing. If this is indeed real (and they come in colors too), Apple really should think about addressing the fact that their mice are not up to par with the market. I hope they address this whole mouse problem, as I think it needs some serious attention. - Shorties, on 10/10/2007, -0/+18It means to enter the story, so if you are browsing the front page (In this case http://www.gizmodo.com/ ) and they have a story with an unusual amount of text or a large image (which is what it is in this case) "Hit the jump" or "After the jump" means to go to the permalink page of the article. You are "jumping" into the story. In this case on http://www.gizmodo.com/ hitting the jump means to click on the image of the keyboards so that you can see the bigger image and full story.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16they have. it's called the mighty mouse.
- ghettodev, on 10/10/2007, -5/+18what is a ''forgit", "wonk" or a "jump"?
- h3xley, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14Well it's a good thing there's the Keyboard & Mouse preference then!
- santaliqueur, on 10/10/2007, -5/+16The pictures are not side by side. Buried as inaccurate.
Just sayin. - ellabee, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Dugg for the considerate explanation.
But man, what a ***** stupid phrase. - ClOlD, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Yeah - they manufactured it with yellow and white keys just to mess with you. That isn't 20 years of UV damage you're looking at or anything...
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Has this been confirmed as the new keyboard? I thought it was still a rumor. I find it suprising that Apple would drop the Apple symbol from the command keys.
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10A jump is usually enable when the legs and knees bend into an almost sitting position and then using the muscles in the legs to suddenly burst in the opposite direction, momentarily lifting the rest of the body off the ground until gravity notices what you're doing and re-asserts itself. Or is that not your question?
- InitialDMP5, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7whenever you buy a desktop mac, you always get a wired keyboard and mouse. If you Build To Order, you can switch it out for the bluetooth set for an added fee.
I didn't realize that PC makers were just giving bluetooth keyboards and mice with their systems these days. - yingjai, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I'm sorry, I can't find the Jump button on my keyboard.
- meatmcguffin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I don't know why, but i get the very strange feeling that Apple might be going to do a complete overhaul of their product line before Leopard comes out.
We know that new iPods are on the way and new iMacs are on the way for sure, the mini looks like it will be replaced, the macbooks, macbook pros and mac pros are all due for a redesign and are looking to hit their refresh limits. The keyboard is in for redesign and, knowing Apple, they'll have a mouse to match it.
I wouldn't be surprised if Apple call a conference next month and announce that they're releasing new versions of all their products at the same time. - ggko, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9No Apple keys? Blasphemy.
- time4evacuation, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7After you activate expose or dashboard, you use your CURSOR to navigate the windows/widgets.
- Icebox3, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7On most blogs, when a story is posted only the first few sentences (or an intro description) is shown on the front page. Clicking "Read More" (taking you to the story's individual page, where you can read it all) is "taking the jump".
- kevinmotel, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8i've owned a macbook for about 3 months now and the keyboard is nice. i like it. just my opinion though
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6This is a tactic used to artificially increase pageview statistics in an attempt to garner higher earnings from advertisers.
IGN are the worst for this. - tezz27000, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Apart from the removal of the apple symbol on command the changes are useless at best. Plus it looks more like something a 3rd year uni student would make in there garage. UGLY as
- GhandiBurger, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I don't know why people are digging you down. You couldn't be more right. If this layout be true, Apple just completely went against the keyboard layouts on their laptops that they have been using for a while. Apple is retarded for having made such a change.
- Verdanic, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5The mighty mouse really ***** sucks.
Digg me down - but if you really compared it to some Logitech mice and lost the tenancy of loving everything Apple' you'd realize that.
Reasons!
The entire mouse clicks. Fine, but if you get the cord under that little lip at the front, you can't ***** click.
Very little difference between a left+right click = not fun.
Almost every mighty mouse over a couple months old has been hopelessly ***** into total disobedience of your motions. Yea, I've tried cleaning the sensors and cleaning the ***** off that ring on the bottom which, additionally, collects way too much crap.
No forward/back/anything buttons. Again, taking looks over functionality - there really shouldn't be any arguing that. - nufoto, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I prefer http://popcorn.cx/computers/apple/peripherals/input/keyboards/m1242-01.jpg
or this: http://popcorn.cx/computers/apple/peripherals/input/keyboards/m3501-01.jpg - bastian89, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4If they do it will probably be in phases like they did when switching to Intel.
- trakais, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6fake
- Sawta, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I like the pressed down look to the keyboard, ease of cleaning and all of that. The only thing that concerns me in the slightest is how easy is it to pop off their keys so I can switch it over to Dvorak.
- Firehed, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4That's an absolutely awful place for the eject button. It's bad enough that I have the current F13 key set to run my play/pause Quicksilver action (so a mis-hit backspace might blast music at me)... having my drive randomly eject for the same reason is flatly retarded.
Plus they really shouldn't have more function keys than are on the laptop keyboards. It makes it a huge pain to have stuff programmed into F14-F16 and not be able to use it when I'm on the road. Never mind the fact that anything past F13 only works intermittently at best. - escapedspecimen, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4no more "open apple" !!?!?!?
- calenerd, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5it looks horrible
- crazybrit, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Wow, that's a forerunner for the most ridiculous insult of the year!
- ChunkerMunker, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5As long as it feels good on my fingers I don't care.
I can't stand the Apple keyboards.
I'ma stick to my Logitech kb unless that thing feels good. - jbhannah, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6Windows needs to get their UI and their collective ass out of the 80s.
Seriously. Dust off one of your doorstop Apple Classic boxen and boot it up. Take a good look at the UI. Then Windows 95. Then XP. Nothing interesting...not much difference just to the feel of it. Vista's an improvement, but still mediocre at best.
Then look at, maybe even use Tiger. Trust me, I've done it, and the light at the end of the tunnel is a sight to behold. - D3koy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Throw some better audio controls up on that empty top bar and make it black and that's the only keyboard I'd ever use....Hell, I'd even switch to Macs.... A USB port on the side would also really be convenient...
- redwire, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Let me tell you what "the potential impact the new design will have on Apple users" will be.
If this was true we would stop buying Macs because they suddenly got so damn two-tone ugly.
Its a lot of effort for a fake but its still a fake.
Deal with it. - LembasBread, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I've always hated the apple keyboard. The design makes me want to puke and it hardly feels practical or comfortable. Not to mention, it looks absolutely disgusting after being used because it is all white.
- Pyroteq, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6Only an Apple fanboy could sit there analysing a rumoured keyboard for hours...
- tezz27000, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Ugly as a zune, hows that for ugly?
- ViktorVaughn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I use f9-f13 WAY more often for video editing and photoshop than I change the volume. Dedicated volume buttons make a lot more sense to me than adding an extra keystroke to a function I use 100+ times a day.
- meatmcguffin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3It's a song by Van Halen
- derekschaefer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I own an iMac and its great, but I have to say the current gen apple keyboards are trash.
- astrosmash, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2http://digg.com/hardware/Optimus_Keyboard_February_1st_
http://digg.com/hardware/Logitech_diNovo_Edge_Keyboard_Review - ohmar, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The apple symbol has exactly zero function on their current keyboards. All software commands refer to it as the command key, and the cloverleaf symbol is the 'command' symbol. the apple symbol was only confusing people.
- Weaselboy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Funny.
- Ireland, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Agree 1000% - I know, tis unpossible, but it's true.
- EvilJelloMan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Uh, you know you can change keyboard mappings in OS X, right?
