blakespot - nogami, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nice monitors, crappy generic pictures on the wall. Would look nicer if the cables underneath were cleaned up a bit... (I'm not really one to talk there, but... :P)
- brassard, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1Digg for the interesting picture, but has anyone looked at his website, http://www.visualseed.com/? It looks like it was designed on a Gateway.
He should sell a monitor and pay someone to fix that ugly beast. - KAMI_no_kodomo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Check out my setup:

That's what I call a cool setup.
Now my parents have to understand that.... - Double-Z, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Superb penis waggling.
- Zminus10, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1He forgets to point out the iSight camera atop one of his 30" displays.
- tetfsu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Is it just me that doesn't understand why people post comments like:

So a guy post some pictures of his home PC setup and gets the front page of digg?
Is there a way I can use my digg point to "undigg" this *****?

So you don't like this story. Many of us do, that's why it hit the front page.
Why do people think they "own" what is posted on digg. The whole point is to share cool things you have found.
Now I am all for an "undigg" or "bury" feature, especially if the story is a dupe. But I wouldn't "undigg" or "bury" or post a flame comment just because I didn't like it. - ErniePC12, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I started my job with a PC on my desk. in the past 4 years, I have moved that PC off my desk, and picked up 2 more. But, I do all of my work on the last G4 Powerbook, and the last pre-isight iMac G5. We went from Zero Macs to 4 xServes, 2 xServe Raids, 2 iMac G5, 2 Mini's, and 7 Powerbooks....
This is unheard of for the Government... - ckrimmel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2the jealousy is almost frightening. if this person has enough cash to drop for a setup like this then more power to em. everybody's got something they poor their money into, cars, audio/video equipment, computers, etc etc etc etc.
he obviously spent a nice chunk of cash on this, hell yes this person should show it off, isn't that half the fun of spending 10 grand on equipment??? - Abx0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dude, he's got a Dell.
- syowr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That dude has to do something about the boring pictures hanging on his walls.
Big e-peen... itty-bitty decorating sense... - phlll, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Owning your own business is great when you can dump tons of cash into a cool setup. Business must be very good for the dude.
Sweet. - beezn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Once I saw that page, my wallet climed out of my pocket and punched me in the face for even thinking about doing something close to that setup.
- jahue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For those wondering 26800 minus software. Estimates based on apple store, Toshiba, cannon, wacom, and dell ( mumbles incoherently ). these are Conservative i didn't take into consideration software, lenses, connections,so on just hardware.
- LooterMcBeer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think its a cool setup but not the most insane ever id call it average
- ILL_Robinson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I believe the amount of hardware is inversely proportional to the amount of human relations you have in your life. In this case, he talks to no one. (c:
Still, the geek in me says "Nice!" - 7of7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This dude is a major tool, that's all there is to be said.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've always wondered how much someone would utilize both screens on a dual 30' setup. But, what would someone use the a separate third screen for? Seems like it's 100% waste of money. Most of that stuff just sits there and sucks energy from the power grid.
- dharh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I dunno. I can understand having a media comp separate from your work comp. Especially if you use it to stream to other comps/people outside of the room. My media comp is also my communication center with IRC, IM, and Internet.
I use the main comp to program and compile my work. If this guys a major photographer and programmer then likely his main comp is doing work and he needs a secondary at least to be able to hear music. Its called being efficient. I dunno about the two laptops and dell though. - BillyBobMac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Tasteless, gawdy overkill. $25,000 in equipment and all he can tack up on the walls are a couple nondescript skyscapes? If those represent his best work, then I'm buying me a couple 40 megapixel cameras and changing careers. Just goes to show two things: 1) The quality and quantity of computer equipment is not in any way proportionate to the professional skills of the owner; 2) Credit cards go a long way.
- screensnot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That first pic I posted is a bit old.
Here is one of a case upgrade:

http://www.freeimagehosting.net/35da8eaf04.jpg - Fruvous, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Pheh, that's not insane. My buddy Tank has a setup that looks like NASA.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1now he has money blowing out of his arse
- ucg1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I would've used a KVM instead of all those extra sets of keyboard/mouse/monitors. Have one of the 30" on a KVM for all the other machines. There are dual-link DVI KVM's available and they are pricey, but not that pricey compared to a 30".
Or, keep the extra monitors and use Synergy (http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/) to share a single keyboard/mouse and be able to copy/paste between desktops. - umrgregg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"That Canon 20D is not $5,500... it's more like $1200"
He's not talking about the SLR, he's pricing the professional DV Camcorder. - docmanhattan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"here's my estimate:

- test5477, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh yeah and I forgot the mac mini -
mini - $599 ish
New total: $23,877.00 - grayBot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love the dual 30's .... but the other stuff jsut really doesnt make sense.... a 23 inch monitor just for a mac mini to play music... could you not just put some music on an external HD and play it on your g5 ...i think they can take it....
and why two laptops....with an additional monitor....i dont get it.....
Im guessing this costs him at least 20,000
I would have gotten 4 xs 30 ins and networked 2 g5's plus an extra terabyte or 2 or HD space...would have been sooo much cleaner and hotter and better etc etc.....
not sure how i would arrange the monitors ... either a 2 by 2 grid or 1on top 3 on bottom pyramid...
actually i really want a 6 30 inchers... put them on a 3 by the 3 grid ..... angle each on towards you....it would be a completely immersive photoediting environment!....mmmmm - SniperGX1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wish I had money for nice displays like that. I like apple laptops and all but I don't think I would ever buy an apple desktop...
- drshabazz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1he's a freakin filmmaker and editor clearly with the XL1 there...what do you expect? compared to buying an editing sweet 5-10 years ago this is a pretty darn cheap setup.
- dosman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My setup might not be all flat panels but it's got just as much screen area:
http://ibmgeek.shacknet.nu/pics/DSCF0009.JPG

- brhad56, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Whats up with running most everything on laptopish computers? With a monitor setup like that, you need more POWER!
- neverender, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0looks like most small indie film studios to me.
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And, for this reason, exactly, I am hoping my design business takes off.
- iceperson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0not impressed
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1No digg for the blog whore.
- halbe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why a Canon 20D? WIth all that other stuff I figured he'd have a 1D or 1Ds...
- kuhas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Am I the only one that hates all this "Best website ever", "Coolest blahblah", "Most Insane blah blah blah"???
Unless you have verified all the websites, or computer setups out there, you should probably calm down with the titles. - silentvirus, on 10/25/2008, -0/+0It's cool...doesn't seem like the most 'insane' to me though..

nice movie semi-quote jafar!!! - rchtr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is one of those stories that gives Digg a bad reputation.
