More iPhone Sightings
macrumors.com — As we approach the iPhone release (8 days away), there have been increasing reports of iPhone sightings. We can never be sure about the legitimacy of these reports or photos, so they are provided for interest sake. This shot was reportedly taken at an airport: Portions have been blurred and...

- dan7562, on 10/11/2007, -17/+2coooool. must work for apple or something...
- Ratking, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4AT&T claimed they had operatives around testing connectivity, etc as well. Looks like a swanky airport lounge... a sort of "safe-haven" for the covert iPhone tester.
- undersky, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1I recognized the first photo (airport one) being in a Northwest Airlines' VIP Lounge. I recognize the furnitures being the one NWA uses in its lounges.
- imsobored151, on 10/11/2007, -14/+8its very narrow...
and it kind of looks edited...- tony.pitale, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9Exactly, it looks like the guy was holding some other phone, and was using an ipod, so someone just pasted an iphone image in his hand and drew a white line out of the bottom of it.
- Fly1m1, on 10/11/2007, -5/+56Everyone just chill. It will be out in a week.
- Scipyo, on 10/11/2007, -5/+13Funny. You listed the exact reason I can't seem to "chill."
- stigma, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2you've seen the presentation, you've seen the pics, you've seen the videos and the ads, you've read the articles, you know when it's coming out and maybe even you've seen people who have it. plenty of reasons to just chill. It's not gonna change your life.
- seraph82, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Yep. Nothing's new.
- SpikeX, on 10/11/2007, -3/+57If every person who spots an iPhone in the public posts the story on Digg, well... I don't wanna think about what's going to happen to the front page AFTER they're released.
- Amnesia10, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1I think that the media will be going crazy with details of anything iPhone related, first iPhone sold, first hands on reviews, first iPhone mugging etc. It will be crazy.
- rushco, on 10/11/2007, -8/+2Looks like my iaudio x5 mp3 player.
- crazzy88ss, on 10/11/2007, -4/+16it looks pretty legit. *shrug* Not that it matters anyway.
- smurf22, on 10/11/2007, -11/+4READ THIS
Ok look at the fisrt pic the head phone jack is on the bottom, in the train pic its on the top.
Carry on.- gregmo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6i think the headphone wire just runs underneath. The jack is still on top.
But, as it's already been said, who cares if this is real? - slsanity, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2.

- smurf22, on 10/11/2007, -13/+5Never mind they are on the same side. Im a jack ass bury me.

- jtms1200, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2bury me too! Wait - im already buried because the guy above me is
- AnthonyA7, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1Pretty creepy, if you ask me.
- MadOtaku, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1iPhones scare me too; we should start a support group!
/does it really need the tag? - AnthonyA7, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Not the phone, you ass- taking pictures of random people in public over their shoulder.
- MadOtaku, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1iPhones scare me too; we should start a support group!
- MarrowMan, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1So they have iPhone Ambassadors! whoopee. It's set up that way so people see Steve's people with these to drive up interest, they are probably given the iPhones in return for free advertisements in public. Nothing a million other companies haven't done. (Although it does look like a cool device, I can't see why there isn't a 40 or 80 gb option tho, in comparison to the paltry 4 & 8gb)
- dwninjungleland, on 10/11/2007, -7/+1Steve Jobs' daughter has apparently been carrying the thing around her school for the past 5-6 months.
- stcmoose32, on 10/11/2007, -6/+18I've held a functioning iPhone in my hand. It wasn't that big a deal. There are Apple employees that have been using iPhones for months now. I don't know what everyone is freaking out about. The same people who roll their eyes at the Paris Hilton media obsession have now created their very own iPaparazzi. Has anyone registered iTMZ.com yet? Take a breath, go water your plants, and wake me up on the 30th.
- avinash240, on 10/11/2007, -8/+2You're kidding? It wasn't that big a of a deal, why read this report by someone who has held one for 5 minutes:
"Overall impression of my 5 minute trial... The Apple iPhone is a magical device that for the first time seemlessly blends art, architecture and electronics into a brilliantly designed... I don't know what to call it. Calling it a phone is like defining Natalie Portman as a "***** Sapien Female Humanoid" There is so much more to it than that.
At any rate, it's going to be a restless 8 days, 16 hours and 20 minutes until I can own my own iPhone, but who's counting."
Magical he says..Magical. - moofer, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4You need a hobby.

- treelovinhippie, on 10/11/2007, -4/+5Simple marketing here everyone... Apple is obviously either giving out iPhones early to a couple of hundred people (putting them under contract to keep quiet. People are then taking photos of these "iPhone sightings" and thus the buzz for the phone will continue (since it was announced a very very long time ago).
- xanji, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1I agree. It's Apple's discrete way of technology domination. The next issue they face is living up to all this hype. If the iPhone completely bombs out, then Apple will never be taken seriously in the mobile industry ever again. However, if they manage to pull this off...it will definitely be the new era of mobile/cell phones. It's all or nothing for them. I guess we'll find out on the 30th the effect of the hand they played.
- johnpaul191, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2actually i think it's for testing. they don't need to generate more buzz. the iPhone uses some stuff that is not on other AT&T phones, so (supposedly) they are in places like airports and random spots around cities to see how they are working in the real world. AT&T doesn't technically allow the same kind of streaming video etc on other phones, so they want to make sure their network is happy with the iPhones. not sure how much they could fix in a week, but real world testing makes perfect sense to me.
- TastyLamp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1The buzz would continue regardless.
- shoguner, on 10/11/2007, -7/+0The iphone now is the new jesus !
- BlackMask, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2and you are the newest moron in Digg.
- RonPaulPres2008, on 10/11/2007, -7/+5Viral marketing. Boring and unoriginal viral marketing at that. Not paying attention to it.
- nekteo, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1then why would you waste your writing your comment?
- MattBlackCat, on 10/11/2007, -7/+18It's just a phone - grow up kiddies
- JustinLeung, on 10/11/2007, -2/+34I swear if all cancer was cured on the 29th and the iPhone was released, digg's front page would still be plastered with iPhone stories and there would be no mention to cancer being cured.
- MadOtaku, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1There would be both. But I bet there would be at least 3 times as many about iPhone.
- stcmoose32, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1The only way that would happen is if the iPhone could cure cancer.....which it can.
- seraph82, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1(dbl post?)
- seraph82, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Oh, so THATS the "mystery app!" What won't Steve Jobs think of next?
... /yawn
- stcmoose32, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1The only way that would happen is if the iPhone could cure cancer.....which it can.
- 2shae, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1That's great marketing
- MadOtaku, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1There would be both. But I bet there would be at least 3 times as many about iPhone.
- bradwilki, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1Jesus...It's true, iPhone's are actually been put into production for people to use. So people will get them now if they are obligated to do so. People need to stop wetting there pants about iPhone, all will be revealed in a weeks time.
The way it looks with this obsession people have with something nothing more than a phone, which have been around for over a decade, I think we'll have another PS3-like incident on our hands:
http://ps3.qj.net/Drive-by-shooting-injures-four-people-in-PS3-line/pg/49/aid/73075 - Freps, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9The guy in that picture looks like Leo LaPorte.
- Joolzy, on 10/11/2007, -7/+1Whoopy *****, It's just a God damn phone..... your latest 'must have'. Just wait till millions get recalled because of some fatal glitch. Don't get left behind folks! You won't be a respectable human being unless you're packing one of these bad boys! You'll be a NOBODY.
- phantom_mullet, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2Digg needs to walk off its iBoner.
- Shawn4168, on 10/11/2007, -6/+0Buried for lame. It's a ***** phone, not some rare endangered species.
- Hilton, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1
iPhone users will be able to enjoy YouTube's originally-created content on their iPhones when they begin shipping on June 29.
http://news.taume.com/Technology/Gadgets/YouTube-Live-on-Apple-TV-Today_-Coming-to-iPhone-on-June-29-1609 - Nadare, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Whats wrong with you people? sneaking behind someone to take a picture of their phone
How hard is it to ask "hey is that an iPhone ? Can I please take some pictures ?"
While it is great that it can surf the net (nothing new) what everyone seems to not talk about is how much the carrier is going charge for the data, here in Canada, the general rate is an exorbitant 30$ per megabyte. So If I were to watch a youtube video on my hypothetical iPhone, it could easily cost me 100$ for a single video. One more reason the iPhone will just be a phone for a lot of people - people who bought into the hype. - themetree, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2i really am hoping for an unlimited (reasonable) data plan to be released for the iphone. something similar to tmobile's sidekick plan maybe?
- newaffect, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2it's an actual iphone. Look at the video "iPhone.A guided tour" on apple.com the guy explains all about iphone and the guy who is holding the iphone is actually wearing the same headphones as displayed on apple.com... so basically, that's a real iphone. wow.
- pr5owner, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0im tired of all the hyped up BS about this phone, the iphone is lacking in the functionality department like the rest of apples crap, its not a great phone on paper, and phones that are 2 years old have more tech in them. just cut the hyped up spam already. digg is crappy enough with its new interface. no need to add salt to the wound
- grinch, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1I know it won't change anything, but I am getting tired of all the iPhone press here on Digg. Seems like every single thing that is semi iPhone related is getting dugg. I understand that it is a pretty nice looking phone, but it is just so hyped right now. Hopefully when it comes out in a week it will subside.
- HCJfilms, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2it's a goddamn phone
