Maybe Apple is actually a good company making good products, and we're all excited about it. Sorry, but some of us don't want to put up with the sucky products that come out of every other big company. To have a company ACTUALLY CARE about decent products, design, and software is a good thing, and we should all be excited about it.
Why are there all these haters that don't like things simply because they are decent? Why must you try to bring everything down to the same level of mediocrity? - pinsomniac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So, where's the usual scoop by Kevin's source hours before an Apple event that we've grown accustomed to?
And also regarding Apple stock: First, don't get financial advice from Digg. See the GOOG thread a while back regarding the reliability of the community. :) Second, while cliff is right regarding the trends, there are also certain aspects of each event you have to keep in mind. In the case of MWSF '06, rumors were heavy that Apple would be introducing some type of Intel machine -- a first -- during the Keynote. The Intel transition is one of the largest undertakings that they've committed upon, and the response has been pretty positive so far.
Basically, there are still Intel products to announce and a great deal of anticipation for them. That's one of the reasons why the stock hasn't gone back down. At worst, you should be able to recover fairly easily if the stock does dive after an event; there will always be other events. It's just a matter of how long you want to sit on your shares. - theone3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0None of those will happen. "Fun new toys", not massive product announcements. Brace yourselves for disappointment ;).
- Joggl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0iPOD Video with larger screen would be great, but i think this is only a wish!
- jk_baller23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0we'll see in a couple of hours, enough with the speculations.
- dongiaconia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Stupid non-tech magazines.. Ha Ha.. guess you were totally wrong...
- ross., on 10/12/2007, -0/+0anyone have a link to a live stream? or know where one is going to be? will the apple site have one?
- Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0higher prices no thanks
- plkrtn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0kin242 - what you talking about?
There is nothing wrong with the video ipod. It works fine, and there have been no major recalls.
If it scratches up, I recommend you look after things properly! - SaciPerere, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Full HD movies download and I'll be happy !
- ross., on 10/12/2007, -0/+010am pacific is 2am Hong Kong time btw.
- dan.blanchard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why does everyone keep saying the event is "tomorrow" in the comments for this article, when it is taking place in a few hours?
- sfwalter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Money and CNN are the same thing, they're owned by the same company. So saying they agree doesn't really mean anything. BTW--I believe the Mac Mini will be announced today.
- Magic07, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Mac Mini Media Center is my bet. The market isn't open to movie downloads and a full video player. We have to think outside of Geekdom. Apple as innovative as they are, are still a couple year behind in Geek trends. It was what years after Napster before I viable mp3 player hit the market, and for how many years have people been downloading TV shows before Apple added them to Itunes. The market just isn't open to these types of products yet, they mass public doesn't see the need for them. However, you say DVR or Media Center and everyone knows what you are talking about. Now that doesn't mean that they wont show the Intel Mini and maybe throw something out there for the Geeks to fiddle around with but its too soon for a full video ipod. Besides the quality of the shows on Itunes is not all that good to begin with, and there is no way I am buying a movie at that quality. Its one thing for Desperate Housewives but it is something completely different for Lord of the Rings.
- Gardenhead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0These places like CNN/Money and whichever other sites are always wrong. I mean, just look at what they valued apple's stock at for a while, and then decided to drop it suddenly.
- Rounin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Agreed. Reminds me of the days when Allen Greenspan would sneeze and people would stumble over themselves wondering what tissue he used so they could buy stock in that company.
- Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Would be disappointing if it's JUST about iTunes Movie Store and some video iPod. Would love to see the Intel Mac mini and/or the Intel MacBook (iBook replacemebt) announced.
It may be wishful thinking but a 12" MacBook (+/- Pro) is what I'm hoping for most. - ThomasNewman1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Because everyone (myself included) keeps thinking it is going to happen tomorrow, because it would make sense to do it on a Wednesday. It is so confusing to do it on a Tuesday.
- trakais, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0movies would be interesting, but other than that - mac mini at most. no ipod video and no ibook yet.
- cruxed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What's so confusing about doing it on a Tuesday? Apple typically releases new products on Tuesday morning (Pacific Time of course).
Also, people may say the event is 'tomorrow', because like me, they might be in different time zones.
10am Pacific Time on Feb. 28th (the event) is:
4am Hong Kong Time on March 1st for me.
I will be waking up early tomorrow for this (I normally wake up at 6, i might wake up at 5:30 :) ) - serpentor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Everyone who keeps saying "it's too early for the wide video ipod" is just pissed cause they're soon to be stuck with a lame 5G 4:3 ipod. It's not too early!!! Who doesn't d/l movies?? My parents are in their 60s and d/l movies! Apple is late, not early with this!
- mehron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not to be doubting it... but, "Steve Jobs, of course, is a master of surprise, so the rumor mill could be wrong on some or all of these possible products." Emphasis on the could be wrong on some or ALL.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Anyone know if buying stock just before Apple events and selling after is a good idea? I mean, I'd assume the stock usually goes up when Apple is all over the media. Anyone notice trends like this before? I've always wanted to get into stock market. 400 million deutch marks?!!! you're fired bob!!!!!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0owned :)
- CLIFFosakaJAPAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@Geterix....."The only reason it is on the front page is that it has the word "Apple" in it."
Is that a fact? I guess the next batch of stories I submit, I'll only write "Apple" in the subject line. No use making an effort to find content.... - whizzbang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0don't think they ever have live streams, the best you will do is live text feeds. I think macrumours had a good ajax based on last time? Whoever did it I'm sure it will be on the front page within minutes of the even starting.
- stealthboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0new mac mini with front-row and DVI hookup to my HDTV = instant purchase.
- CLIFFosakaJAPAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Regarding buying Apple stock before an Apple event....
The trend shows that the price of Apple stock goes down immediately after such event, recovering a couple of weeks later, but the stock really took off after MWSF'06, which was unusual... - lane.montgomery, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think they are going to release a widescreen ipod. Have any of you actually bought a show from iTMS lately? They are formatted on widescreen if you watch them on the computer, and they automagically scale to full on the ipod.
- kindrobot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Don't I recall something about being omitted from the main podcast charts if you were caught saying "*****" when songs were not censored and their sales were charted?
How are they going to work with ratings and films? Is it going to be like wal-mart/target, where clerks typically just look the other way and scan? Or will they omit everything that isn't pg or g?
How does that work, apple? I love ya, but c'mon. - m.sandstorm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0While it would be possible that they would release the new ipod now its very unlikley. It seems that whatever it is will most likely focus on media. The movie store is very possible following the success and recent 1 bil mark of the iTunes store.
If they do, however, release the new ipod i'll be very interested. (^-^) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I expect 3 more flavors of IPOD this year alone.
The longer I wait the better deal I might get.
Or maybe I will wait for a product that is a bit cheaper and not so jump on the bandwagon popular. - arizonagroove, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So what if they agree. It's mere speculation. It doesn't mean anything.
If I submit a story saying me and my mate agree they'll be Intel Mac Minis will that get dug to the front page? - pondster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0too funny! CNN Sucks
- lico05, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Maybe next time...
- xLiKx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0cool, if there is a better video ipod, i'll get that
- luke--, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Bust!
- TheGeekcast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Who looks stupid now???
- mushroomblue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Money/CNN agree: we have no idea about anything. but we can sure fill an article with speculation!
- plkrtn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0OK so the best way to say
"WE WERE RIGHT ABOUT WHAT APPLE IS DOING"
is to predict every major rumour on the web the day before....
CNN just recycling EVERYTHING into one story. - unreal32, on 10/12/2007, -0/+01 out of 4 ain't bad.
No wait, it sucks. - troydoogle7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Digg Users agree Money/CNN Suck asssssssssss!
- ThomasNewman1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"Why would they release a new Ipod two months after Christmas when everyone is still trying to clear off their debts? "
WHy would they release the iPod Video and a whole new version of iTunes FIVE WEEKS after the nano and iTunes 5.0 had come out?
Apple is wierd, but thats one of the reason why they are so cool.
Tomorrow Apple WILL COME OUT WITH A NEW iPOD. The iTMS did not updatte today, the last time this happened was when the video was announced. Think about that. - br0ken1128, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"Tomorrow Apple WILL COME OUT WITH A NEW iPOD. The iTMS did not updatte today, the last time this happened was when the video was announced. Think about that."
iTunes didn't update because they had new content up, tv shows...
most people are leaning towards a movie announcement, this would mean new content and would follow the trend of not updating iTunes..
Why would a new video ipod halt content update on the itunes store? unless of course it was just due to higher resolution content.
I think it's going to be itunes movies.... but .. it COULD be itunes movies + bigger ipod ... better wide screen experience ;) - plkrtn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0This story really infuriates me...
It should just be called
"We predict Apple will release EVERY PRODUCT EVER RUMOURED" - grammarpolice, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0All i want is iporn!!!!!!
As long as Apple does not release a bluetooth mighty mouse ill be fine. - Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0hmmm even higher prices for Apple comps....no thanks at 1/2 the price I'm very happy with my pc and the tons of software and games for it :P
- max_payne, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0An insider info: Apple is merging with Playboy to buy Microsoft and serve the world better. ;)
- Eldoo77, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Hmm... some stupid rumors about what Apple might/might not announce today. Digg--
- br0ken1128, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Microsoft making a move to try to have a media event the same day makes me think this might be bigger than just the itunes thing, I believe it will be a combination of things.
Mac Mini
Some sort of ipod, either the bigger video (I doubt it) or some new cheap line
Itunes movies, which .. I won't even think of buying unless it's appropriately priced, not when I can go to blockbuster and get pre-viewed for $9 ;) .. never had an issue yet. -
