- asura, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1from the twistedmelon.com FAQ page (http://twistedmelon.com/mira/faq.html):
mira is designed to work exclusively with the Apple six button remote and won't work with remotes from other products. However, any learning universal remote should be compatible, as long as it sends the proper commands. In some cases you'll have to teach the universal remote the Apple Remote commands yourself. - lickmygiggle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2had this on my Macbook for a while, but I just bought it last night.
I'm VERY satisfied with it.
That and the fact that someone from twisted melon personally contacted me to make sure I had recieved my license file, and to tell me that they had been having trouble with their servers. He checked in regularly until i recieved the license file (I did later that night).
Honestly and without a doubt the BEST experience i've ever had while buying anything. - macnerdery, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There's a better tool for this, which also can do so much more!
It's called Remote Buddy and you can check it out here http://www.iospirit.com/remotebuddy/ - whosmatt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I just want to know why they used IR? Wouldn't bluetooth make sense? Did they just feel the need to tie the new remote to the new computers?
- monergism, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Is this IR or RF? I'd like to use it in different rooms of my house.
- ShrimpCrackers, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2In the Windows world this would never even make news, forget the front page of Digg...
I'm a Mac user too (alongside Windows and BSD), but I'm amazed at the zeal that they give to every single minor Mac story. Its getting tiring.
I mean Steve Jobs may make a big deal out of any intuitive feature, this is neither. So Mira lets everyone use the Apple Remote now, something Apple should've allowed in the first place. Big deal. The fact that I could use my cellphone to control my laptop with bluetooth with far more features for $10 was much bigger news (Google: Bluetooth Remote Control).
