Me.com Email Addresses Now Working
macrumors.com — If you are a .Mac subscriber, Apple appears to have activated the corresponding @me.com email addresses. If your email address was username@mac.com previously, you can now use username@me.com and emails should arrive in your .Mac mailbox. In the near future, Apple will be migrating all the email services to Me.com

- syclonefx, on 06/29/2008, -33/+14My me.com email address is working now.
- mjhamilton, on 06/29/2008, -13/+24So I can send you an email at *****@me.com?
- pajamasceo, on 06/29/2008, -30/+12My me.com address is working as well. I think this speaks well for MobileMe launching on 1 July.
- Thrielmin, on 06/29/2008, -6/+4i would like to agree with you on that, however what do you make of this;
What will I need for my iPhone or iPod touch to use MobileMe?
You will need to update to software version 2.0 or later to enable push mail, push contacts, push calendar, and push bookmarks. This software update will be available when MobileMe launches.

- easy4lif, on 06/29/2008, -29/+13ts working for some. My guess, those who got iTools accounts back in the day were the first transfer over.
- Radan, on 06/29/2008, -2/+6Nope, I've had .Mac since back in the days when it was free and I can't access my Me.com address (the mails simply bounces when I try sending them to it). I think it's as simple as it being completely random when it gets activated.
- kidjesus, on 06/29/2008, -1/+5And I got my first Mac (and .mac account) 3 weeks ago and mine's working. Definitely random, can't imagine them purposefully punishing "old-timers."
Then again, I'll keep using the .mac alias 'cause .me sounds dumb. So I guess it wouldn't be a punishment.
- poolekgh, on 06/29/2008, -25/+9Worked for me too!!!!
- kkiran, on 06/29/2008, -26/+10Doesn't work for me though! family pack and .mac registered..
- macwac, on 06/29/2008, -2/+3same, probably take a day or so.
- koft, on 06/29/2008, -7/+12.mac and the family pack. Apple must love you guys. Nothing like constantly paying for email and a paltry amount of web traffic. Have they branded your forehead yet?
- sadilak, on 06/29/2008, -5/+0And the .Mac service is very scrappy at best. For the paltry amount of subscribers that they have, it loads slower than Yahoo, MSN, AOL and Gmail for sure.
- macnamanch, on 06/29/2008, -26/+10worked for me! wohoo!
- Thrielmin, on 06/29/2008, -27/+7not working for me yet :-(
- mvanhorn, on 06/29/2008, -26/+10worked for my main email and my alias! w00t
- MarianaPeyton, on 06/29/2008, -24/+4Title is misleading. Me.com is working for some. Really interesting anyway.
- MrZaiko, on 06/29/2008, -19/+271me.com sounds kind of lame to be honest

@me.com- Ravatar, on 06/30/2008, -1/+1Sounds like a Saturday night in lower manhattan.
- itsthebrod, on 06/29/2008, -42/+34So does using a Mac.
- wTheOnew, on 06/29/2008, -22/+8All the Mac people I know are arrogant but yet I gave the majority the benefit of the doubt and didn't stereotype. But me.com? Can you be a little more full of yourself Jobs?
- Lewiji, on 06/29/2008, -7/+7You're kidding me right? It's not like we're getting @stevejobsisgod.com. Get over yourself.
- dudefaceguyman, on 06/29/2008, -8/+10HOW DARE YOU DISRESPECT OUR LORD AND SAVIOR OF EVERYTHING TECH?! You better kneel before Steve and beg for forgiveness mother *****! NOW!
- redwallhp, on 06/29/2008, -5/+9It's "me.com" because it's all "your" data in the cloud, comprende? Your personal data, therefore "you."
- maexus, on 06/29/2008, -5/+7@redwallhp - Woah woah woah, stop making sense! You're getting in the way of their Mac bashing. It may be the only happiness they have in life.
- wTheOnew, on 06/29/2008, -10/+5It's fun making anti-Mac comments and watching the fanboys squirm. Learn to take a joke, jeez.
- VicTheKnife, on 06/29/2008, -1/+5Agreed, thankfully the @mac.com will still work for forwarding purposes. I hopefully won't ever have to tell anyone my address is @me.com.
- ModernChem, on 06/29/2008, -8/+1rather egotistical, dontcha think?
- BrendanSheehan, on 06/30/2008, -1/+2It's Ok actually. It's one of those; "at first it's lame.. then it grows on you" sort of things.
- RajDhillon, on 06/29/2008, -12/+42It can be added to the list of things that make you look like a douchebag.
- nasalspray, on 06/29/2008, -19/+1Read the comments. If it isn't working for you, log in and create an alias. It starts working instantly. Then dump the alias.
- 2Deluxe, on 06/29/2008, -20/+130@me.com, sorry but eww.
- redwallhp, on 06/29/2008, -3/+15I like the sound of @mac.com better. But I'm still not going to pay $100/year. I prefer using my own 5-letter domain anyway... (Google Apps FTW!)
- TylerM, on 06/29/2008, -10/+4I'm buying a domain on Tuesday and hope to utilize Google Apps. None of you care. But now you know.

Abbott and Costello routine ensues.- bugfaceuk, on 06/29/2008, -4/+81I agree with those saying me.com sounds lame (I'm a .mac user, family pack, not converted yet)... but on the other hand I though MacBook and MacBook Pro sounded lame... and now it seems normal.
Maybe .me will get used to it. So who is going to register the comedy names?
- spit@me.com
- laugh@me.com
- f@me.com
- andthenhepulledagunandshot@me.com
OK... not funny :/- ninetimes, on 06/29/2008, -4/+33Yeah, when I first heard about the "me.com" domain, my first thought was "throwfeces@me.com"
- GreenAlien, on 06/29/2008, -4/+8If they're just alises for .mac accounts, they've probably already been taken.
- diggimator, on 06/29/2008, -1/+7It's Apple's way of getting revenge. They used to be:
- spit@mac.com
- ... etc. - Sephaa, on 06/29/2008, -1/+5L@me.com
- Olivaise, on 06/29/2008, -1/+1I may just have to register that last one.

- BrandonR717, on 06/29/2008, -24/+84I really wish I could keep my @mac.com address. me.com sounds retarded.
I think I'm gonna be getting a gmail account very soon...- chrisgeleven, on 06/29/2008, -3/+51If you already have a @mac.com address, you can choose to still use it.
- mingistech, on 06/29/2008, -23/+49chris is correct. you'll be able to use douchebag@mac.com and douchebag@me.com.... both will work.
do some research next time. - GreenAlien, on 06/29/2008, -10/+27"do some research next time."
Was that snotty reply to his question really needed.
Anyway, what about new subscribers. Do they get the .mac alias too?- wTheOnew, on 06/29/2008, -10/+6Yes it was, this is the Internet. Welcome to it.
- muya, on 06/29/2008, -2/+4He didn't ask a question, he was wrong in his assumption.
- diggimator, on 06/29/2008, -5/+1"what about new subscribers. Do they get the .mac alias too?"
I don't know. Were you able to register douchebag@mac.com? - diggimator, on 06/29/2008, -0/+1By "the .mac alias," are you referring to @mac.com email addresses?
"You@me.com.
With MobileMe Mail, you can create an email address that’s personal and easy to remember. Maybe it’s yourname@me.com or maybe it’s something clever. Whatever you think up, it will be your best email address yet."
http://www.apple.com/mobileme/features/mail.html
Apple is migrating, as mentioned in the article and digg summary. If Apple gave @mac.com addresses to MobileMe users, then that wouldn't be migration. - eldridgea, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1no
- oneoverzero, on 06/29/2008, -9/+3FTA
"In the near future, Apple will be migrating all the email services to Me.com"
Do some research next time.- JHaze, on 06/29/2008, -0/+16"In the near future, Apple will be migrating all the email services over to Me.com, but users will be able to keep their @mac.com email addresses"
However, if you don't chop off the sentence in the middle, you get the rest of the answer.
- JHaze, on 06/29/2008, -0/+16"In the near future, Apple will be migrating all the email services over to Me.com, but users will be able to keep their @mac.com email addresses"
- Jmorrow76, on 06/29/2008, -1/+2You can still keep your .Mac address.
- brett1337, on 06/29/2008, -0/+5dugg for moving to gmail
- koft, on 06/29/2008, -19/+30.mac represents the least amount of value you'll ever get for ~$10 a month. me.com, who ***** cares?
- Goblin, on 06/29/2008, -3/+8Don't have .mac, but will probably get a mobileme account for push mail, contacts and calendar between MacBook, Vista desktop and iPhone. Not fussed about the other stuff, but not having to sync calendars is worth it for me. 20gig of online storage to give me an offsite photo backup will be useful too.
- redwallhp, on 06/29/2008, -0/+4I wish Google would just build the push functionality into Gmail and Google Apps...
- yabos, on 06/29/2008, -5/+3Then don't read the story if you don't like it. Instead you just come here and bitch. Obviously there are people that like it and the syncing between computers is pretty cool. Same with the push email and OTA syncing with MobileMe to your phone.
- redwallhp, on 06/29/2008, -0/+2Here's an idea, turn OFF the Apple category in your prefs instead of trolling.
- yabos, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Why the hell are you replying to me, I'm not complaining about the Apple stories.
- wTheOnew, on 06/29/2008, -7/+2Has that ever bothered a Mac person before?
- zerock, on 06/29/2008, -2/+4.mac is more like $ 8.25 per month.
you get 20gb online storage. push email, contacts between my macs, pcs and iPhone. Calendars!!!!!
i think its better than .Mac .- Syphon8, on 06/29/2008, -2/+3That sounds like the biggest ripoff I've ever heard.
- HolyChimp, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1I wonder if they'll allow other people to provide the same service. Push email, contacts and calendars from my Google Apps account would be great.
- Rotzooi, on 06/29/2008, -8/+50Let's all post if our addresses are working or not!!!
- arjie, on 06/29/2008, -2/+33Not necessary. Just tell me your usernames and password. I'll check for you!
- redwallhp, on 06/29/2008, -2/+8Hey, what do you know, jobsismyking@me.com (with password "M@csr0ckuf-inDiggtrolls") is working!
- arjie, on 06/29/2008, -2/+33Not necessary. Just tell me your usernames and password. I'll check for you!
- jasonpoon, on 06/29/2008, -9/+11I think Apple changes the name for those PC iPhone users. Though I'm 100% sure @mac.com is much much more better than @me.com.
Glad they let .mac users like me to keep the @mac.com account name. - geodebug, on 06/29/2008, -3/+45Not sure why you'd want to change from mac to me.
Reminds me of Windows ME.- saxreturns, on 06/29/2008, -3/+5The horror... the horror.
- NotaFanboy87, on 06/29/2008, -1/+1Actually bc of the influence that the iPhone has had over the PC world. Apple thought it would be cool if PC people would buy the MobileMe to go along with their iPhone so they can wirelessly sync their data to their PC. If PC people are planning on buying it (I know 3 already), then it would be REALLY lame to call it .mac. MobileMe removes the whole 'only-for-mac-users-ness' about the service.
- geodebug, on 06/30/2008, -0/+2Sure. Still don't like "me" though.
- bakshi, on 06/29/2008, -24/+101. Be Apple and make a custom @me.com email address that Mac lovers would pay $120 a year for
2. ???
3. Profit!
An email address for $120 a year? OMG! Sign me up!- maexus, on 06/29/2008, -7/+15You do know that .mac comes with more than just an email right?
- t1m1, on 06/29/2008, -2/+12You mean like 20GB of storage, push calendars/contacts/bookmarks across multiple platforms, photo galleries, iWeb and Back to My Mac support? Nah, that's just eyecandy.
- maexus, on 06/29/2008, -0/+11It's hilarious that people are digging me down. Wow.
- SPECOPS, on 06/29/2008, -1/+2"It's hilarious that people are digging me down. Wow." - Welcome to Digg, where people don't digg (up or down) on comments logically, they digg emotionally.
- bakshi, on 06/29/2008, -3/+6I knew I'd get dugg down after saying that. It still stands though, I can get better stuff from Google, for free.
- SPECOPS, on 06/29/2008, -0/+1I guess you'll really *****-yourself when you find out Google does the .Mac/.Me email back-end for Apple, then charge for it. Like Maexus said, there's a lot more to it than just email, believe it or not. My favorite is the auto syncing of all my preferences, email accounts, application settings, background settings, sounds, even dock size - auto-magically using the .Mac ---- when I do a restore, there isn't much to do (e.g. setting your custom mouse speed, screen saver time-out, email settings (e.g. adding in which ones to check, rules, signatures etc.) - all that is part of .Mac/.Me too. Yes, I can do it manually, or setup 4-5 other programs to do it, but I prefer the ease of use the way it handles it, and I'll pay $5.75 /month (amazon .mac for $69.99, no tax, no shipping) for it as well as a web page hosting, and all the other "stuff" that it comes with.
- maexus, on 06/29/2008, -7/+15You do know that .mac comes with more than just an email right?
