- Crazysticks, on 12/29/2008, -7/+170I use my iPod touch for so much more than music. I'd say I use it for music 10% of the time it is in use. I use it as a wireless mouse for my computer. I watch movies on the bus. I check email on it while at work. On my break I use it as an AIM chat tool, game system, and Digg checker. And sometimes I view my computer screen on it just to show off. Also it's good for Rickrolling using the remote application. The possibilities are endless.
- brandonelliott, on 12/29/2008, -11/+108well heres a little story. a few days a go a man came into Staples (where i work) he wanted to know how to get music on his touch. i said well download itunes on your computers and plug it in. there was silence. he look at me and said "the guy i bought this from told me i didn't need a computer, thats the whole reason i bought it, so i could listen to music without needing a computer. i said well a computer is only necessary for the intial setup, after that you just need internet access to download the music. there was silence again, the internet?! no one told me i need the internet for this! all i want to do is listen to music, i love music thats all i bought it for. then i rebutled, well yes, they are great for playing music but you need internet access to download any type of media on the ipod touch. then he ***** lost it on me. absolutly lost it. this man was about in his 50's heavy smoker deffinitly and kinda looked like popeye the sailer man. thru his ranting and raving i managed to pick up what sound like he had never used a computer in his life or been on the internet. at the moment the world seemed to go into slow motion and i thought to myself. this guy has no ***** idea what hes gotten himself into. during the malee of his verbal diarhea he reached in his pocket and whips out an iphone. this snapped me right out of my bewilderment and i said sternly "you have an iphone as well, may i ask you why you have an iphone as well as a touch? "his return was "i don't want to be listening to music and get a phone call at the sametime be inturrupted. my jaw dropped. i offered to return his ipod touch and all of the ridiculous accessories he purchased for it even though he had owned for over the return policy periiod. i genuinely felt bad for this fellow because all he wanted to do was listen to music legally without any troubles. anywho over the next week for so he would come in and talk to different sales associates hoping for a different answer but to no avail. this brings us to boxing day. after spedning nearly a grand on ipod stuff he walks in and drops 2 more grand on a laptop. jesus christ. if he cant understand how to use an ipod touch properly hes never going to figure the likes of a full blown computer. i did offer the use of our wirless internet but stated that i don't imagine management would appreciate him downloading music or spending hours in the store without making any purchases. anywho if he reads this by some odd chance Perry (his name) God speed my friend. you are a ***** techno-trooper.
- t0ny, on 12/29/2008, -2/+83I agree its not JUST an iPod. I would never buy a normal iPod or any other expensive digital music player. I think of my iPod touch more of a pda then a mp3 player.
- nervis67, on 12/29/2008, -0/+67I got an ipod touch for myself over the holidays. Call me cheap, but I would never pay ATT that huge ridiculous monthly payment. I have wifi at home, work and just about everywhere else I go these days.
- inactive, on 12/29/2008, -4/+54the touch is amazing. i never really thought it was anything special since i thought it was just another ipod...but holy ***** it's great.
- ParisSeth, on 12/29/2008, -7/+57 IT isn't just iPod Touch
Apple's whole lineup is doing well this Xmas. iMacs and MacBooks are tearing it up as well it appears...

2. Please, format your response. - rootsm3, on 12/29/2008, -4/+46Everyone and their colon has a Touch.
I am thoroughly jealous. - archer75, on 12/29/2008, -15/+56For that much money she better take it up the ass.
- liquisoft, on 12/29/2008, -5/+46My little brother is one of those who bought a Touch.
Interesting to note: Best Buy was selling an iPod Touch for $70 less than the ones at the Apple Store. My brother was all pumped to be saving money and still getting what he wanted. It turns out Best Buy was selling the last-gen model and wasn't making it clear to anyone. My brother only found out because he noticed the product looked different while at the store. He ended up buying it from the Apple Store instead. - archer75, on 12/29/2008, -2/+29Because not everyone can afford or wants to pay outrageous monthly fees. Hell my wife and I converted our cell phones over to pre pays. We just don't use them that much.
I don't "chit chat" with people on the phone. - shadowswordth, on 12/29/2008, -3/+29Why dig the man down? I thought his story was interesting, save for his lack of correct mechanics.
- SteeleJK, on 12/29/2008, -0/+25Yes, especially since PrometheusBorn has a gravel mousepad.
- RedStateRetard, on 12/29/2008, -1/+26I was doing so much other stuff (web browsing, email, games, messaging, watching videos) on my I-pod touch. It took me a month to realize that I forgot to load my mp3s.
- BadAsh71, on 12/29/2008, -1/+24For archer75, dude, I have seen guys buy their girlfriend a car with no commitment... now that is stupid... I think the iPod Touch is much safer on the pocket book.
- deaftly, on 12/29/2008, -5/+27Wish I had a touch instead of my $70+ month iphone :(
- beachtrader, on 12/29/2008, -4/+25Paragraphs are your friends.
- web2pointYo, on 12/29/2008, -3/+24Your medal should arrive in 4 to 6 weeks.
- inactive, on 12/29/2008, -0/+20iPods must be like crack. Their sales aren't affected by the economy.
- Zman0101, on 12/29/2008, -1/+20It's called Credit Cards
- archer75, on 12/29/2008, -12/+30It has everything to do with it. Spending that much money on a chick with no commitment(ring = commitment) is stupid seeing as she could leave you tomorrow and is probably already banging your best friend.
So you should at least be getting something out of the deal. I'm just looking out for you. You sound young and naive. - BossKey, on 12/29/2008, -0/+17Because I don't talk all day on my cell phone, buying an iPhone locks me into a plan that, at minimum, would double my cell phone bill.
I'm seriously thinking about downgrading my cell phone to a basic model (you know, the kind you mostly just TALK on) and getting an iPod touch since most of the places I am in all day have wifi. - sandiegodude, on 12/29/2008, -3/+20I bought my girlfriend the 16gb IPod Touch for Xmas. She absolutely loves it. I probably spent another 40 bucks in the app store as well, getting her an assortment of games and utilities.
- cyrusuncc, on 12/29/2008, -1/+17IPod touch
- frishackbanned, on 12/29/2008, -4/+20Then the douche should have bought a shuffle.
- dmtherob, on 12/29/2008, -3/+19Why? So you can sign a two year, over priced contract with AT&T? No thanks.
- dOOBiEx213, on 12/29/2008, -1/+17You can pay 30 bucks a year for skype, and turn your iTouch into a cellphone... with the 2nd gen. you just plug in a headset w/ mic and download a free app. (Fring or Nimbuzz.)
- dOOBiEx213, on 12/29/2008, -1/+16Dude, I know. I always have huge expectations for gadgets only to be disappointed once I mess with them. With the iTouch, you (almost) have a wallet-sized computer.
- Quicksilver4648, on 12/30/2008, -0/+14A+++ Storyteller. Would read again.
- kedohmen, on 12/29/2008, -1/+15I got my iPod Touch last March and love it. I even "downgraded" my cell phone -just a regular old phone now that just used to talk and send a text or two. I used to pay Sprint $40 a month for the unlimited data plan, but I figured, why bother anymore? I get free wifi with the Touch!
- archer75, on 12/29/2008, -0/+14Where have you been? You can use the new headphones with a built in mic. There are VOIP apps for it on the app store.
- Disgod, on 12/29/2008, -0/+13I've had my Ipod touch since Christmas Eve, and I've lost wayy too much sleep over it, playing games on it. Searching the app store. Downloading Podcasts, I think I downloaded at least 60 podcasts last night alone. I love my touch. Plus, right now, I don't have internet at my place, but the touch picks up someone's open wireless network better than my laptop does (Not surprising, it's old).
- lintmonkey, on 12/29/2008, -1/+14Dugg for typos.
- Muffinhunter, on 12/29/2008, -1/+14mocha vnc
- ldkronos, on 12/29/2008, -1/+13I got myself an ipod touch for xmas, and the biggest reason I did was thanks to Microsoft. The $400 32GB was on ebay for $370 shipped, then take off another $37 for ebay/paypal's 10% coupon. That's a pretty good deal, but then throw in the 30% buy-it-now promotion that Microsoft's live.com site was running, and I got a 32GB for $222.
Thanks Microsoft. Even you guys knew I didn't want a Zune. - PrometheusBorn, on 12/29/2008, -1/+13You use your touch as a mouse? I wasn't aware of that app. Even though I don't think it can beat a real mouse, i'll have to try it for kicks.
- roxgod666, on 12/29/2008, -1/+126 weeks? ***** DHL sucks.
- KaiUno, on 12/29/2008, -2/+13Same here, I use mine primarily for reading. Stanza is a great app. After that it's my organiser, syncing flawlessly with google calendar.
Music... not so much. - frishackbanned, on 12/29/2008, -3/+13yeah, one is a phone, and one is not, but thanks for playing.
- ufoman, on 12/29/2008, -0/+10I got a 2nd Gen 16 GB iPod Touch for $169 (not a refurb) the Saturday after Black Friday this year. The HEB Plus here had 9 of them for that price. I waited in line for 5 hours in the cold and was 3rd in line, But it was well worth it. I use it for everything but music. I have a Nano for that.
- kjk437, on 12/29/2008, -2/+12Why? The reason I bought an iPhone is because of the iPod Touch. Sure, it may be expensive, but think of the plans offered by competitors for their equivalent touch screen phones. They're pretty expensive too. Plus, then I get 3G internet in most of the places I am, GPS, a camera (admittedly not great, but it's there) and it's main function, a phone, in the same device with all of the iPod Touch goodies. I consolidated a PDA, an MP3 player, and a phone into one device and haven't looked back since.
- frishackbanned, on 12/29/2008, -1/+11you might want to check out the app store, and wake up to the possibilities.
- protodon, on 12/29/2008, -0/+10I have never given or received a gift over $100. So who are these people so i can join their family!
- frishackbanned, on 12/29/2008, -1/+10I think you meant savior of the tech world.
- Sparrow06, on 12/29/2008, -0/+9nothing...they will steal your files though
- archer75, on 12/29/2008, -2/+11It is slow, there is no doubt about that. It's just that people are stupid and love to spend money they don't have on things they can't afford.
- Mutton, on 12/29/2008, -0/+9halp I'm addicted to Tap Defense
- mcnees287, on 12/29/2008, -1/+9***** off
- gwhenning, on 12/29/2008, -0/+8I bought one for each of my kids this christmas and we sync'ed over usb. There does appear to be a wireless on/off in the settings as well.
I doubt anyone will see this, but to the answer to the question above about why not get an iPhone instead of the touch, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, and Montana don't have very good service from AT&T. There's a lot of areas where my Verizon phones work, but GSM phones don't. - Archaic1, on 12/30/2008, -0/+8I love you
